Hermeneutic analysis of the Augustin Ujević's poetry (1930/1945)

Augustin (Tin) Ujević (1891/1955) belongs to the most important Croatian poets. This thesis proposes to think of Ujević's life, work and view of world against background of his poetry from the 1930s and first half od 1940s by the year 1945, when the regime of then Yugoslavia forbade him to publish. During this period he published two anthologies of poetry, Auto na korzu (1932) and Ojađeno zvono (1933), both of which form skeleton of this work, and as well two collections of essays, Skalpel kaosa (1938) and Ljudi za vratima gostionice (1938); both of them have been keystones of study of Ujević's contemplations about literature and life. Theoretical and metodological resource of this work is interpretation in the sense of hermeneutical philosophy of W. Dilthey, H. G. Gadamer and P. Ricoer.
Transformation of Picture of Woman in the Croatian Prose from Realism until Today

The thesis deals with the picture of woman in the Croatian prose and its transformations from realism to present times. The main aim of the thesis is to map out characteristics of the female subject primarily within discourses of feminist critique in the context of social aspects of the Croatian milieu. Thesis focuses on analysis of female characters that firstly embodies the social hierarchy, secondly represents the mythological concept of femininity and thirdly works towards confrontation of feminine identity with the patriachal phallogocentric discourse. It also focuses on the analysis of femininity, sensibility and sexuality. The main part of the thesis comprises the analyses of nine selected texts written by Croatian authors, namely Goldsmith's gold by August Šenoa, In the Registrar's Office by Antun Kovačić, Diary by Dragojla Jarnević, Melita by J. E. Tomić, The Last of the Stipančićs by Vjenceslav Novak, The Return of Philip Latinowicz by Miroslav Krleža, Marina; or, About Biography by Irena Vrkljan, Divine Hunger by Slavenka Drakulić and Ministry of Pain by Dubravka Ugrešić. Srbian Folktale The Golden Apple and Nine Peahens in the Pan-Slavic Context

Doctoral thesis Serbian Folktale "The Golden Apple and Nine Peahens in the Pan-Slavic Context examines a specific story construction AT400+422*+552A (ATU400+302C*) applied on a Serbian folktale in Slavic context. In the introduction of concrete parts typology confronts assigned types from the Catalog of international tale types and types from Slavic catalogs. Thanks to the comparative- typological analysis and due to the focus on specific loci communes of a concrete type, interethnic relations between certain types emerge. This thesis is organized into independent chapters which are built upon a specific type, mainly upon Slavic material which takes account at a non-Slavic type (variant) that have an essential effect on texts which had been analyzed. The result of this analysis is supplemented with an appendix that introduces "common places" for types which had been compared. These types are also demonstrating connections between them and in what form they are preserved. Modern Weddings in Belgrade and Prague

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to show contemporary wedding customs in Belgrade and Prague on the background of typical Old Serbian and Old Czech wedding. The thesis primarily thoroughly deals with the characterization of wedding customs which lasted to this day and therefore became a part of modern weddings. Simultaneously it tries to depict similarities and differences in traditions of both of the described regions. The method of describing the modern marriage culture is based primarily on analysis of traditional wedding components and at the same time is interspersed with results of the questionnaire survey. The analysis shows that even though many of the old customs preserved they are being often practiced in an altered form and some of them even lost their original meaning and character.
The Theme of Violence in Contemporary Serbian Drama (1996-2009)

The work provides summarized delineation of the development of Serbian theater and drama from 2nd half of the 20th century till now and still defines the bases of contemporary Serbian dramatic works. It describes its characteristics and specifics based on the analysis of specific dramatic works. The emphasis is both on a breakthrough events theatrical of 80's and 90's of the 20th century also on the major dramatic figures of the period of the late 20th century. The work contains a detailed analysis of the three key texts of modern Serbian dramatic literature.
Transformation of the national consciousness in the identity of immigrants from the selected countries of former Yugoslavia in Denmark

The thesis is concentrated on a diaspora from the former Yugoslavian countries, a special stress is put on the new generations. There are several factors which do influence the minorities - such as impact of a family, institutional, socio-cultural and historical atributes. Another important fact is Denmark's immigration and integration policy. Nevertheless, the formation of identity and belonging is highly affected by all mentioned. The analysis is held towards the transnationalism, integration/assimilation tendencies and hybridity in the behavior of the diaspora members. It should answer some general questions about the situation of ethnical minorities from the former Yugoslavia in this part of Europe as well as it should outline the distinction of these minorities in some neigboring countries. Specifics of Serbian and Romanian oral folklore - fairy tales of magic

The work is focused on mapping the historical circumstances of collecting oral folklore literature in the territory of Serbia and Romania and to cultural, religious, geographical and political influences that formed the folk traditions of these ethnic groups. It describes the role that oral folk literature played in the given environment. The historical circumstances and influences mentioned are then compared. The work provides an overview of translations of the anthologies of fairy tales from given languages into Czech. Then it focuses on a comparison of concrete fairy tales from chosen anthologies, comparison of particular fairy tale themes and elements of Serbian and Romanian fairy tales of magic.

From Intimate to Public - Constitution and Metamorphosis of "Women's writing" in the Context of Croatian literature Author: Dajana Vasiljevićova The bachelor thesis deals with the "women's writing" in Croatia, its constitution and transformations from the 1980s to present times. The main aim of the thesis is to map out characteristic discourses within literature in the context of social aspects of the Western orientated feminist movement in socialist Yugoslavia. It focuses on the analysis of femininity, sensibility and sexuality which are in opposition to values of patriachal society. The main part of the thesis comprises the analyses of three selected texts written by Croatian authors, namely Silk, Scissors by IrenaVrkljan, Marble Skin by Slavenka Drakulić and Steffie in the Jaws of Life by Dubravka Ugrešić as role models for the typology of "women's writing". The transformations of the genre were are examined continuously from the late 1970s when the theoretic aspects of "women's writing" were modified for the Croatian milieu. The confrontation of feminine identity with the patriachal phallogocentric discourse is based on hunger for recognition as an equal in society. The Moreška from Korčula

The piece of writing covers the subject of sword dance Moreška at Korčula. However, the sword dances of similar character over the world were not left aside. In the first place the piece of writing informs about Moreška from Korčula, its origin and development until the end of the nineties of the last century. It describes the dance such as entirety of several elements: choreography, musical aspect, actors, and costumes, trying all of them to keep in touch. The aim of writing was not only to prezent the outsider view of observes and investigators but also to show the inside view of participants of Korčula's Moreška indending to make complete analyses of this subject. In order to visualize the sword dance and make it more eye appealing for the reader, the writing was completed by adding contemporary photos.

This thesis is concerned with serbian literature of the second half of 19th century. It describes the main features of the serbian literary realism. More focus is given to the serbian realistic story and its main authors. In the context of this dominant genre deeper tought is given to the rural enviroment of the serbian realistic story. Mainly describing its roots, atributes and the work of the most significant authors of this genre which are Milovan Glišić, Laza Lazarević and Janko Veselinović.
