The invasive neophytes' occurrence in the riverbank vegetation
Matějček, Tomáš
The aim of this thesis is to summarize actual results of the field research of invasive neophytes' occurrence in the riverbank vegetation of selected water courses in the Czech Republic. In total approximately 850 km of the riverbank vegetation was mapped using author's own method. The occurrence of invasive neophytes (17 taxons) was registered for each of the 500 m long segments (in total 1693 segments was mapped). The number of specimen was registered using a logarithmical scale. Segments were defined using river navigation or important points of orientation (e. g. bridges or weirs). Total number of taxons, total number of specimen, simple index of invasive neophytes load (Is) and weighted index of invasive neophytes load (Iw) were calculated for each segment. The number of specimen was derived from registered values such as the mean value of the interval. The weighted index of invasive neophytes' load takes into account plant size, it's life history and potencial risk for indigenous flora or people and human activities. The number of specimen of each taxon is weighted by certain coefficient. The value of weighted index of invasive neophytes' load and some other characteristics are presented for parts of the water courses (i. e. groups of neighbouring segments with similar geographical and...
Evaluation of Slovak geography textbooks in terms of approach to environmental ethics
Čechová, Aneta ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bartoš, Jan (referee)
This bachelor's thesis pursues Slovak geography textbooks for secondary schools in the aspects of their attitude towards environmental ethics. It investigates the ratio of differently oriented statements in particular textbooks. The statements are distributed into five principal categories of environmental ethics - anthropocentrism, theocentrism, biocentrism, ecocentrism and ethical evolution. The author compares the findings of this thesis with the findings of analogical thesis which dealt with Czech geography textbooks.
The spread of invasive neophytes in the riparian vegetation of the Úpa River
Tomeš, Miroslav ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Flašarová, Kristýna (referee)
The presented bachelor thesis deals with the distribution of invasive neophytes in the riparian vegetation of the East Bohemian river Úpa and compares the findings with other streams. In the practical part, in the summer of 2020, the occurrence and abundance of 17 selected taxa of invasive neophytes in segments with a length of 500 m are monitored, for statistical evaluation merged into sections 2-3.5 km long. In almost 60 km of vegetation (in the sum of both banks) there are 7 taxa of invasive neophytes with different degrees of representation. Unequivocally dominant is in terms of the absolute number and share of occupied segments the taxon Impatiens parviflora occurring in almost the entire mapped area. Reynoutria sp., I. glandulifera and Solidago sp., which are concentrated in certain localities, can also be mentioned as numerous taxa. All segments are invaded. A more significant invasion process is taking place on the right bank of the river. In the Czech context, Úpa is one of the more invasively loaded streams. Keywords: invasive neophyte, riparian vegetation, the Úpa River, stream, monitoring of vegetation
Current state of vegetation in the Sázava River floodplain after spring flood in 2006
Klášterková, Hana ; Chuman, Tomáš (advisor) ; Matějček, Tomáš (referee)
In this diploma thesis current state of vegetation cover was analyzed after spring flood in 2006 on the lower section of the Sázava river. Immediately after the flood there were 38 sites with alluvial deposits identified in the floodplain. The differences in species composition and species diversity between sites with alluvial deposits and sites without deposits were analyzed. The data were collected by using phytosociological relevés in pairs i.e. - plot with an alluvial deposit and plot without. There were 86 vascular plant species recorded out of which 10 species were non-native but not invasive species and 7 species were non-native invasive species. Results of this thesis revealed that species composition and diversity of invasive species differ between plots with alluvial deposits and plots without alluvial deposits. Moreover, plots without alluvial deposits host more invasive species. Keywords: vegetation succession, river floodplain, extreme floods, species diversity, plant invasion
Teacher of geography as the cause of motivation to study geography
Macounová, Veronika ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hanus, Martin (referee)
This work is a continuation of the bachelor's thesis which proposed the idea of a Geography teacher as a crucial factor in one's decision to study Geography. For this reason, the research focuses on a comparison of two groups of teachers. The choice of the ten responders in the first group was based on the highest number of students from different Czech schools applying to study Geography. The second part with 90 respondents consists of randomly selected teachers from Prague and regions of Central Bohemia, Ústí nad Labem, Karlovy Vary, Plzeň, South Bohemia, Pardubice, Hradec Králové, Liberec and Vysočina. The research is concluded with analysing how teachers work with feedback and self-reflection. Didactic games in geography teaching
Matoušková, Barbora ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Havelková, Lenka (referee)
This thesis deals with the use of didactic games in geography lessons in Czech schools. Its main goal is to use the questionnaire survey to find the so-called examples of good practice in schools. In the introduction there is a short literature search and definition of the term didactic game according to various authors. The main research method is an electronic questionnaire. A total of 72 faculty schools of the Faculty of Science of Charles University were addressed. Finally, 30 primary and secondary school teachers took part in the research. The questionnaire was divided into four parts. In the first part the general opinion of teachers on the concept of didactic game was investigated. The following section of questions was focused on teachers who use didactic games - the extent of games usage, in which topics of geography, as well as specific examples of games and their evaluation. The third section of the questions was intended for teachers who do not use games and found out the reasons that prevent them from using games. The last section of the questions deals with the sociodemographic characteristics of the research sample. The work contains analysis and interpretation of the questionnaire survey, including graphic outputs. The results were processed qualitatively and quantitatively...
The teaching of regional geography in Montessori schools
Čechová, Simona ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kocová, Tereza (referee)
The teaching of regional geography in Montessori schools Abstract The goal of this thesis is to present the importance and position of the curriculum of regional geography and to analyze the approaches to teaching methods of regional geography, which are used in Montessori schools in the Czech Republic and are applicable in teaching geography in other types of schools. Specifically, we study pupils in the higher grades of primary schools and the lower grades of a grammar school. The work deals with this topic in two main parts. The first theoretical part is devoted to familiarization with the history of regional geography as a scientific discipline and, subsequently, with the functions and subject of study of regional geography in general. The next section deals with the curriculum and teaching of regional geography. At the end of the theoretical part, there are chapters devoted to Montessori education and methodology utilized in this thesis. The second part summerizes results of qualitative research, including the method of semi-structured interviews with teachers of regional geography and participatory observations in classes. At the end of the thesis, the summary results of qualitative research are proposed and further discussed. Keywords: Teaching geography, regional geography, Montessori, qualitative...
The analysis of historical geography textbooks from environmental ethics point of view
Weiner, Adam ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bartoš, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on analysis of historical textbooks for primary and secondary schools from the perspective of the environmental ethics. During the analysis process, statements of environmental issues were sought, which were evaluated and divided into appropriate directions of environmental ethics. The results were graphically processed and compared with the work of Seidlová (2010), who conducted similar research on contemporary textbooks. The research shows that in historical textbooks the anthropocentric, biocentric and ecocentric directions occur mainly, while the anthropocentric direction is the most represented of these directions. The theocentric direction and the direction of evolutionary ethics appeared only in a few cases. The similar scheme is in current textbooks, with the difference that ecocentrism is the most represented. The biggest difference between historical and contemporary textbooks is in the number of statements and their unambiguity. It was found that the number and unambiguity of statements is increasing towards the present.. The reason could be the stage of development and progress in which the society found itself. Keys words environmental ethics, geographical education, historical textbooks of geography, the man-nature relationship, evaluation of textbooks,...
Permaculture agriculture in geographical context
