Analysis of impaired communication ability of children during the process of enrollment into regular elementary schools

TITLE: Analysis of impaired communication ability of children during the process of enrollment into regular elementary schools SUMMARY: The submitted rigorous work analyses and evaluates awareness of speech therapists, educators on ordinary primary schools, and educational - psychological consultants about the issue of impaired communication skills in children during the primary school enrolment. This theses is divided into two parts. The first part being the theory part covering the elaboration of specialised publications in the area of pedagogy and special pedagogy. The second part is empirical. It concentrates on analyses and evaluation of questionnaire research with the focus on children at primary school enrolment. It analyses the most common breached communication skill and further high-risk areas which occur in children at primary school enrolment the most. Diagnostic markers specific language impairment from the perspective of a speech therapist

This thesis deals with specific language impairment. The theoretical part introduces related terminology, classification, etiology, symptomatology and diagnostic issues. The research section analyzes the different linguistic levels in a sample of children and devotes a common specific variations in verbal production that could be designed as diagnostic markers. The qualitative study was an analysis of verbal production of nine children ranging in age from 5.4 to 5.7 years, with specific language impairment. In all the statements were reflected deficits in the use of sibilance, skipping voice in the first position, disruption of understanding to varying extents, incorrect naming and difficulties výbavností words and disturbance of speech and other prosodic factors. Role of speech therapist in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders

The thesis titled Role of speech therapist in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders characterizes the role of speech therapy intervention as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team taking care of a patient with a neurological diagnosis in the process of comprehensive rehabilitation care. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on professional literature, it defines the terminology related to communication and communication disability in general, then it focuses on neurological diseases and patients with neurogenic communication disorder. The main part is focused on speech therapy intervention in the process of comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with neurological diseases. The practical part of the thesis presents results of a survey, carried out on neurological departments of hospitals in the Czech Republic in October 2016 to obtain information on whether and how the speech therapy intervention is provided at neurological departments in hospitals in the Czech Republic. Learning Primary Literacy of Children with Specific Language Impairment

This thesis solves deals with special pedagogical problems of primary literacy acquisition of the children with specific language impairment. The aim is to analyze the phenomena, which disrupt the process of acquiring written language forms of the pupils with this diagnosis and to record factors, which help to streamline this process. Another task is to propose the steps to help overcome the problems caused by impaired communication skills by teaching analytic-synthetic method. The theoretical part is the basis for meeting the targets. It describes specific language impairment as one of the categories of impaired communication skills and its consequences for education. Attention is given to the topic of literacy. Emphasis is particularly given on the initial reading literacy. This period is seen in the context of the speech development and the psycholinguistic concept of literacy is introduced, where the skill of phonemic awareness has a central position. At the end of the theoretical part, the methods of teaching of reading are described. Communication skills of young people with mental disabilities

The thesis discusses the issues of communication of young people with mental disabilities. The theoretical part of the diploma work defines mental retardation. It shows the life of a mentally-disabled young person and explains the educational and employment opportunities of such young people. The theoretical part further focuses on the speech of persons with intellectual disabilities. It provides information about the development of speech and about impaired communication abilities. The work outlines the possibilities of speech therapy, its diagnostics and intervention. A diagnostic test oriented on the communication of young people with mental disability in selected situations of daily life was created within the practical part of the thesis. The speech of pupils was analysed on the basis of a test used in a selected two- year practical primary school, and on the basis of available documents and interview with the class teacher. A proposal of communication development was created for every pupil, which can be used in the preparation of the pupil's individual education plan. The contribution of the thesis is in the created proposal of measures for the development of communication of pupils at two-year practical schools, which is consistent with the school curricular documents. Development of communication skills for people with learning disabilities

The thesis deals with the possibilities of communication skills development for persons with learning disabilities. Problematics of vocabulary acquirement and the associated cognitive processes are of primary interest of the thesis. Part of the work is a proposal of several practical activities for improvement of these fields, all in agreement with the presented theoretical background. Qualitative study on a sample of 5 tenants of a nursing home was conducted. Subsequent analysis revealed that the nature, implementation and orientation of the proposed tasks is suitable for the clients. The volume of the building creates an inverse corner with a newly designed square, representing the leakage area for theater Radost. Private courtyards are used primarily by residents. The property offers a range of apartments, oriented precisely to the square or the courtyard, each apartment is connected with the exterior French doors, balconies, loggias. There is also a library and reading room and an integrated café, reviving the square. 2 floors of underground parking to serve both residents and replaces the missing capacity in the area.
