Application of an interactive whiteboard for physics education

In terms of my master thesis I accomplished a partial research of information about using interactive whiteboard at school in the Czech Republic and abroad. I described the use of modern technologies and interactive whiteboards in the classes. I compiled my own experience and knowledge obtained during the visitation classes using an interactive board. Part of the evaluation was a questionnaire lled out by students. In the questionnaire, I examined their opinions of the bene ts of working with the interactive whiteboard in classes. In my thesis I focus on the ACTIVboard interactive whiteboard. I described the basic functionality of the ACTIVstudio application and created sample demonstration workbooks intended for teaching physics. The demonstration workbooks has been divided into three categories according to the way of using and describing their properties in detail. In the conclusion the results and future prospects of my work are summarized. The appendix contains three demonstration workbooks in text format. All created demonstration workbooks and templates for solving the physics problems and the text of the thesis are attached in electronic format on the enclosed CD-ROM.

Microstructural evolution of equal-channel angular pressed IF steel

Equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) belongs to advanced technologies for improving mechanical properties of materials. In the present work the influence of number of pressing by route BC on grain size, density and type of dislocation, evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of IF steel has been investigated by means of optical microscopy, electron back-scattering diffraction (EBSD), diffraction profile analysis, microhardness testing and tensile deformations. It has been found, that the grain size decreasing with increasing number of passes. Simultaneously, the microhardness, density of dislocation and maximum true strength has been increased. The evolution of microstructure with increasing pressing number, particularly the forming of high-angle boundaries has been also examined.

Applets and physlets in physics education

This diploma thesis deals with description, analysis and creation of physic applets called physlets. It includes overview of existing sources of applets and their comparison. Detailed table analysis informs about usability and quality of available physlets from different websites. Corresponding lesson plans to the chosen physlets on high school level are contained. I elaborated five worksheet of different level to the three chosen physlets. Some of them are attested on high school students. Softwares for creating physlets are compared according to accessibility, demandingness and usability. Diploma thesis contains instructions to create physlets using softwares Easy Java Simulation and Meta Builder. I published a manual for Easy Java Simulation on the server moodle.cz. Corresponding website informs about the whole diploma thesis. It contains all translated physlets with lesson plans and worksheets.
