Multilingualism and Interculturality in international or interregional projects and work environments.

The master thesis aimed to find out structural and individual strategies of managing multilingualism and interculturality within the BOKU - International Relations working team. In the first part of this work I set up a theoretical research framework focused on the following key topics : intercultural management, intercultural competence, intercultural teams, communication and challenges. The last part of the theoretical part describes the existing models about the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences working environment I referred to. Empirical data were collected using data triangulation through document analysis and qualitative semi-structured interviews to demonstrate the structural and individual strategies of managing multilingualism and interculturality of six BOKU-IR team members. They were then analyzed by sequences and transcribed with the software FOLKER according to the convention GAT2. The results show an overview of the intercultural management and the strategies used to deal with multilingualism and interculturality within the BOKU- International Relational working environment.

This master thesis aims to show what influence language and communication decisions have on external communication in internationally operating organizations. The research was done on the example of sequa gGmbH in Bonn, a non-profit development organization. Through interviews and observation protocols, the impressions and experiences of employees of sequa were collected.

The comparison of ethical codes of public administration civil servant in the Czech Republic and Austria

The thesis is concentrated on comparison of ethical codes of public administration civil servants in the Czech Republic and Austria. First of all, the choice of this two states is based on common history and development of public administration. Aspect of intercul-tural differences is not omitted. The thesis aims on description of both ethical codes along with ethical code of European Union, which are both codes based on. Thereafter the comparison of all three codes is performed on the base of previous description and results obtained by survey. Survey was made in Czech Republic and Austria. The civil servants and employees of municipalities with extended competence and the civil serv-ants on equal level of districts, so-called Bezirk, in Austria are respondents of the sur-vey.

The main topic of this master thesis is a demonstration and explanation of cultural standards in selected works of twentieth century. In relation to studied field, is the selection of literature oriented towards the czech-german area. The thesis binds together two subjects of the previous studies - the intercultural communication and literature. The second goal of this thesis is to prove, that there is certain correlation across the cultural standards. This thesis consists of three parts. The first one is dedicated to the intercultural communication and its main terms. After that follows a chapter about the cultural standards. In the last part, which could be observed as a practical field, the cultural standard will be analyzed and explained with the examples found in the selected literature.
Integration of children of foreigners in kindergarten environment in Prague.

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of integration of foreign children living in the Czech Republic, specifically in Prague. The focus is mainly on children whose mother tongue is different from Czech. In the theoretical part, the thesis describes the specifics of the pedagogical approach within the issue, it mentions the current possibilities and legislation setting for the education of children with special educational needs. It acquaints readers with key concepts of the topic, discusses the position of multicultural education in the preschool curriculum, the role of possible racial prejudice and their prevention, intercultural communication and problems associated with child adaptation. It will briefly mention the statistics of the Czech and Prague demographic structure and its development in recent years. The practical part examines the theoretical readiness of teachers to work with preschool children who come from different socio-cultural environments and also face language barriers. It notes the specific needs of foreign children in the integration process into kindergarten. The survey made by qualitative research method by means of interviews with teachers determines the situation in the given area at selected kindergartens in Prague. In the final discussion, there is brief methodological support for teachers, including recommendations from "good" practice, which lead to successful integration of children with different mother tongue into the Czech classroom.
Firm Culture (Image of Czech Employee in German Speaking Companies)

The thesis deals with specific features of the Czech und German company{\crq}s culture. The thesis is divided into theoretical a practical part. The theoretical part is focused on comparison of cultural standards, on the style of Czech and German communication. It pursues the conventions and emphasizes possible conflicts and methods of solution. The next part introduces the analysis of programs serving the improvement of the intercultural contact und communication. The practical part contains a questionnaire, which includes 50 Czech employees of Siemens Company in the Czech Republic. The questionnaire concentrates on personal experience of the Czech employees with German business partners, on their knowledge of the intercultural contact and it compares the information concerning the cultural standards from the respective literature with the informant{\crq}s answers.
The White House Presents: The Media Image of Barack Obama

The diploma thesis The White House Presents: The Media Image of Barack Obama examines the media presentation of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, through the official media channel of the White House. Five video recordings of President Obama's speeches are analyzed with a focus on linguistic, visual and auditory sign systems with the use of the qualitative semiotic content analysis. Before the analysis itself, an explanation of theoretical terms related mostly to the representation of reality is provided. On these grounds the analysis is then approached as a description of different means of achieving media construction of reality, to which both the President himself and the White House Office of Communications contribute. This Office is in charge of the content of the above-mentioned channel. To broaden the context, general information about the functioning of the President's media communication is included. The aim of this thesis is an interpretation of the communication tools presented by the White House media channel and the analysis of their symbolic meaning in order to explicate the process of a specific media image of the President coming into existence. The influence of interculturality in communication of employees in organization

The work deals with the cultures and its impact on communication of the organization. It focuses on the influence of cultural background and personality related to the specifics of communication between workers and managers communicate with employees. Attention is focused on the differences in the behavior of workers from different cultural environment, the importance of specific knowledge of other cultures to overcome differences and optimal cooperation in intercultural environments. The issue of interculturality and its impact on communication between workers in an organization is viewed primarily in terms of personnel management and the work also deals with the different approaches to the management of the group of countries.
