Australian immigration policy and its economic impacts

This paper describes trends in Australian immigration policy and analyses impacts of immigrants and immigration on the Australian economy. The first part defines the term of international migration and its categories. The second section is devoted to the description and explanation of particular migration theories, which are used during the study of international migration. Assumptions, causes and effects of migration are investigated in detail. Impacts of migration on the economy are further explored in the third part of the thesis. The influence of immigrants on the labor market, wages and unemployment, economic growth and international trade are continued to be examined. Fiscal effects of immigration and a problem of population aging are also described. The next part talks about Australian immigration policy, its evolution and current situation. It analyses different waves of immigration to Australia from 1788 to present. The beginnings of the White Australia Policy are portrayed as well as the change to multiculturalism. The last chapter analyses the composition of Australian immigration population and covers the impacts of the Australian immigration policy on the Australian economy, growth and international trade.
Australia and its Importance in the World Economy

The aim of my thesis is to analyze Australia's political and economic situation. My thesis consists of two parts. In the first part I describe Australia in terms of geography, and I acquaint readers with its history, especially after World War II. In the second part I deal with the current economic situation of Australia, and political system which I compare to the political system in Great Britain within the Commonwealth. In conclusion, I summarize my work and find out Australia's future strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats using SWOT analysis.
The economy of Australia with focus on present economic developments

Master thesis is focused on the economy of Australia. It consists of characteristic of state form and political situation, membership in international organizations and demography. The thesis comprises also characteristic of sectors of economy and entrepreneurship environment including infrastructure and legislative. Apart from this, also historical development (1990 to 2007), economy in present crisis (2008 and 2009) and future forecast are evaluated. International trade is also analyzed in the thesis, mainly its commodity and territorial structure, foreign investment and trade partners' relations. The conclusion of master thesis comprises SWOT analysis, which results in stating of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats concerning Australian economy.

The basis is an analysis of economic position of the APEC and of the three countries within the APEC and characteristics of the organisation. The thesis deals with the security and economic interests of the three countries in the Asia-Pacific area that implicate their interests in APEC.

The Past and Present of Australian Immigration Policy

This paper deals with Australian immigration policy, its evolution and current situation. It analyses different waves of immigration to Australia from 1788, describing the first British migration, gold related Chinese migration or 19th century non-british migration. It goes further to explain controversial White Australia Policy including The Immigration Restriction Act of 1901 and core concepts of whiteness and Britishness. The post-war mass immigration program is then described in detail and its relation to shift away from White Australia is shown. The objective of keeping Australia white and British was substantially modified through the 1950s and 1960s. It was Prime Minister Gough Whitlam who officialy ended the White Australia Policy in 1973 and gave its support to the concept of multiculturalism. Measures of the Fraser, Hawke and Keating governments concerning immigration policy are also treated. The theme of Czechs and Slovaks in Australia is included, emphasizing on personal story of one czech immigrant. As the perception of immigration in Australia evolved from assimilation to multicultural society, the Australian approach to multiculturalism is covered in the next part of the thesis. Critical views on multiculturalism are decribed as well as the rise of Pauline Hanson's One Nation in 1990s or the topic of Australian Muslims. Changes in immigration policy under the Howard government and possible directions of new Labor government are outlined in the next chapter, including issues of refugees, current visa system in Australia or public attitudes towards immigrants.

Další části práce se věnují složení daňového mixu a stručnému komentáři jednotlivých daní a reformě na počátku tisíciletí. Daná reforma, domácími politiky označovaná za přelomovou, měla značný vliv na podobu dnešního složení daňové soustavy Austrálie.

The goal of this essay is analysis of important indicators which will be subject of comparation,their values reflects in competitiveness. This essay contents too recommendation for economic policy for future.Essay is separated to seven chapters.The first discuss about characteristics of comparative economic areas, the second one describes gross domestic product, mainly progress and structure.The third charapter analyses prices from comparative price level, rate of inflation to individual items of consumer price index. The fourth chapter refers to general government financial balance, reflection in government liabilities, changes in interest rates and government interventions in social transfers or subsidies.The fifth chapter deals with current account per GDP and nominal exchange rate. The sixth chapter judges unemployment rate and labour productivity of economic sectors. The last chapter includes ratings of economics by additional indicators like Human Development Index or Corruption Perceptions Index.
Australia and New Zealand: a special position between Asia-Pacific and Europe

Ústředním tématem diplomové práce je analýza role Austrálie a Nového Zélandu v rozvoji vztahů mezi regionem asijského Tichomoří a Evropskou unií. Výsledkem zkoumání dosavadního vývoje a rozvoje vztahů mezi Austrálií, Novým Zélandem a EU je posouzení možnosti využití těchto vztahů pro posílení pozice Evropské unie v asijském Tichomoří. Diplomová práce se dále zabývá integračními seskupeními regionu asijského Tichomoří (ASEAN, APEC, ASEM) a na pozici Austrálie, Nového Zélandu a EU v těchto uskupeních. Austrálie a Nový Zéland lze považovat za budoucí most spojující EU a asijské Tichomoří pouze v případě, že spolupráce mezi Austřálií, Novým Zélandem a EU bude posílena a bude pro ní stanoven hmotnější rámec. Pro toto posílení je nezbytná reforma společné zemědělské politiky EU, jelikož obchod zemědělskými produkty je podstatným tématem téměř všech jednání mezi EU a těmito zeměmi.

Práce rovněž analyzuje vzájemnou spolupráci České republiky a Austrálie v obchodně-ekonomické oblasti a nastiňuje investiční možnosti na australském kontinentu.
