Usage of emoticons and emojis in the Internet practice
Davidová, Jitka ; Vondra, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Horný, Stanislav (referee)
Bachelor thesis "Usage of emoticons and emojis in the Internet practice" aims to clarify a boom which is currently happening around these nonverbal means of electronic communication. This study tries to reveal the causes of this modern trend and to specify the possibilities of its usage from the media point of view. Emoticon is not introduced just as a sign, but also as a functional mean of intermediality. The subject of study is firstly set into a broader theoretical framework, where a reader learns about the basic terms and approaches of nonverbal communication. Afterwards, the historical development of Unicode is described, which strongly changed the emoticon itself. In a practical part gained knowledge is exercised in interpretation research. Survey is described in more detail and complemented by the current opinions of the experts, who demonstrate its intermediality. The character is introduced generally according to forms of its usage and specifically in the context of social media as mean of communication. The main contribution of this work is clarification of historical development of current emoticons and highlighting their huge range of interpretation possibilities.
automatic recognition of encoding and language
Hron, Michal ; Pinkas, Otakar (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
Processing simple or complex texts (MIME type - application) often requires automatic recognition of encoding and language. Some types of files or pages contain an internal information about the encoding method. There might be some conflicts, however, eg. between the HTTP header and the meta tag. Sometimes it may be useful to verify the accuracy of the file encoding even when the encoding is known. In case that the identification of encoding is not available it is necessary to use a method of automatic recognition of encoding and language. One such method is an n-grams method. It has been used many times to categorize texts in many programs and in various programming languages. Based on tests results, it seems that the automatic recognition of the Czech language and other Slavic languages is less successful than the recognition of Western languages. Determining the reasons and searching for better solutions is therefore beneficial even nowadays. The length of the input text and the use of various languages in one document are important parameters. This thesis does not take text consisting of sentences in several different languages into consideration. In addition to a basic analysis of the topic, the thesis also includes a software solution to particular problems in a form of independent programs or plug-ins.

"The thesis proposes a system for recognition of printed text (OCR), which uses neural network for recognizing letters. The neural network is implemented using the program RapidMiner. To control the neural network is using the processes created by program RapidMiner. These processes are run directly from a Java application. RapidMiner is implemented into the java application and using its libraries is started directly from java application." directly from a Java application. Impact of swimming on the motor system of professional swimmers
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Tereza
My Bachelor Dissertation focused on the topic ``Impact of swimming on the motor system of professional swimmers{\crq}q is divided into two parts {--} theoretical part and research part. The theoretical part describes not only the history of swimming, development of swimming methods and impact of swimming on human organism, but also according to what parameters it is possible to identify future top swimmers, how to avoid damage to the motor system caused by swimming, why the joint motility is so important and how stretching can help in this context. The aim of this Bachelor Dissertation is to find out whether stretching has an impact on the motor system of professional swimmers. In the research part I tried to achieve this objective. The research was carried out in a qualitative manner with the help of such techniques as anamnesis, observation (kinesiology examination), on two swimmers who had physical difficulties. The therapy was held for seven weeks during which I focused not only on the stretching of shortened muscles but also on reinforcement of weakened muscles and drilling of movement stereotypes. The first patient had pains of the left shoulder joint and the other one had pains of the lumbar area of his back, of the right iliac joint and buttocks. Both the patients cooperated well and thanks to the therapy it was possible to improve stretching of shortened muscles, advanced head posture, asymmetry of the left and right parts of the body, breath wave, and muscle force increased. Physical difficulties of swimmers were mitigated, but much more time would be necessary for their complete removal. It implies from the results of the research that stretching has a positive influence on the motor system of professional swimmers but for achievement of better results it should be connected with the reinforcement of weakened muscles as well.
