Nurse status today and in the future
KOZÁKOVÁ, Martina
Nowadays the status of a medical nurse represents a fairly actual topic. It is a profession where many changes had to be undertaken during a few years beginning with scholars education up to a graduation of a nurse and their responsibilities. A nurse not only plays the role of a caretaker and a helper but is also an individually thinking professional who has received a proper education and has his or her competence bound by the jurisdiction. The theoretical part focuses on the status of a nurse from the sociological viewpoint, on its development from a historical perspective, on changes taking place in the present and stretching to the future and on the trends we might expect in this profession. The practical part contains information obtained by the research which focused on the perception of the status of a nurse by patients, nurses and physicians. The aim of this graduation research was to question nurses in the Czech Republic about their contentment with their current status and explore their future visions, furthermore to obtain opinions on the topic from both patients and physicians. The H1 hypothesis was: nurses are not content with their current social status, was proved correct. The H2 hypothesis was: the ideas of a nurse about his or her future status in the society are positive was proved correct. The H3 hypothesis was: the assessment of the status of a nurse by a patient is negative, wasn´t correct. The H4 hypothesis: physicians do not follow the current status of a nurse, correct. The H5 hypothesis was: physicians do not display any interest in following the status of a nurse in the future was correct.
The effect of nursing magazines on the development of nursing
BLÁHOVÁ, Marie
This thesis ascertains the influence of nursing magazines on the development of nursing. The first aim of the thesis was to perform historical analysis of nursing magazines from their emergence to the present. I would like to state on the basis of the historical analysis processed that nursing magazines do influence the development of nursing in large measure. I analyzed six nursing magazines in total {--} Diplomovaná sestra (Graduated nurse), Zdravotnická pracovnice (Health care worker), Sestra (Nurse), Ošetřovatelství (Nursing), Diagnózy v ošetřovatelství (Diagnoses in nursing), Florence. The aim was met in my opinion, which I comment further in the theoretical part. The practical part includes research results, 17 diagrams, discussion and annex. The research is quantitative, performed with the help of the technique of a questionnaire consisting of 16 questions. I can state on the base of the results that nursing magazines have influence on introduction of new nursing procedures and aids by nurses-managers into health care practice in the ward, obtained from nursing magazines.
Multicultural approach of nurses to the chinese minority
ZAPLETALOVÁ, Květa
This survey assignment is orientated towards subjects closely linked to each other to establish how NHS nurses in the Czech Republic perceive ethnic minorities. What are the opinions on tuition of multicultural nursing and if there are any differences between university and college educated nurses? It was established that the better-educated influences viewed an importance in multicultural nursing. The next aim of this research was to monitor knowledge of nurses working in areas of multicultural nursing and how they prepare to meet their clients. Also if introduction of carer models is needed in preparation. Multicultural education has already been introduced in colleges, but is lacking evidence how effective this is in practice. Even though nurses are dissatisfied with the obligatory lifelong education (mainly because it is an involuntary system), this is still a necessary way to complete their training, especially the older nurses. The last phase of study was investigating the knowledge of nurses caring for clients from China and their awareness of the Chinese culture. Again, the differences between university and college educated nurses was evaluated. The second hypothesis determined that the level of education did not play a role in this survey, the nurses had no particular knowledge of Chinese clients or any special care that would be needed. Collecting of all information was carried out by the usual method of survey forms. Rating the statistically important results was achieved by using the ``Pearsons {$\omega$}- square test{\crqq}. This is a method of maximum credibility and a ``Fishers exact test{\crqq}. The statistic analyses proved that the first hypothesis did not confirm the second hypothesis. This survey assignment showed the importance of introducing multicultural education at college level and no later, And also the importance of stimulating students in taking more interest in other cultures. My work on this subject revealed that there is no awareness of specific care required when dealing with Chinese clients, hypothetically because of the lack of exact and scientific literature of this minority living in Czech Republic.
Nursing care of the child with constitutional dermatitis
OLIŠAROVÁ, Věra
ABSTRACT Constitutional dermatitis is one of the most frequent skin diseases that come into being especially on an allergic basis. Establishing the number of individuals suffering from this disease is immensely difficult, although its growth has become obvious in recent years. Combined with this, the need of sufficient information in relationship with this diagnosis has grown, too. The thesis is aimed at surveying the knowledge of nurses in this field and at establishing the situation in the field of providing information on regime measures. Further, the thesis is aimed at surveying the informedness of parents of children suffering from constitutional dermatitis and verifying whether the measures related to this disease are observed. Altogether, five such work hypotheses were formed. The first hypothesis found out the differences in the knowledge of nurses in dermatological and pediatric surgeries, on the questions of the lifestyle of children suffering from constitutional dermatitis. The second hypothesis found out, whether parents requesting information on the disease, more frequently turn to nurses in the surgeries of pediatricians than to those in dermatological surgeries. The third hypothesis focused on surveying the informedness of parents of children concerning regime measures. The fourth hypothesis focused on surveying the parents{\crq} informedness of associations of patients suffering from this disease. The last, fifth hypothesis dealt with surveying the situation in observing the regime measures related to this disease. The second, third and fourth hypotheses were confirmed within the actual research, while the first and fifth hypotheses were not confirmed. The research was carried out in the Regions of South Bohemia and West Bohemia, in cooperation with the doctors and nurses in dermatological and pediatric surgeries. The quantitative exploration research, using the method of questioning was applied. The technique of data collection was that of an anonymous questionnaire. For the research purposes, two kinds of questionnaires were handed out, a different questionnaire for nurses and a different one for the parents of children suffering from constitutional dermatitis. The research set consisted of about 30 nurses from the above institutions, and 45 parents of children suffering from constitutional dermatitis. The outcomes of the research were summed up in the research part of this thesis and compared with expert literature and my experience. The information obtained from this thesis gave rise to a manual for pediatric nurses that contains basic information related to the questions of constitutional dermatitis. A great contribution of this thesis is the possibility to compare the theoretical knowledge of nurses and its practical use in everyday life and nursing care.

Arrangement of the nursing process for the sick of incontinency
KUKAČKOVÁ, Zdeňka
I have selected the bachelor thesis on the subject of The Provision of the Process of Nursing Incontinent Patients because I am interested in the issues of urinary incontinence. With increasing age, the need for voiding urine becomes an increasingly topical problem. Many think that urinary incontinence is a natural part of the ageing process and that it is possible to combat it by reducing the intake of liquids. A nurse should refute this opinion of incontinent patients and to recommend that they should restrict beverages containing caffeine during incontinence. Most of incontinent patients, however, are shy of talking about their problem. Therefore, the understanding of the patient{\crq}s behaviour can help a nurse solve the problem of incontinence. Furthermore, a nurse should provide incontinent patients with information on suitable and unsuitable sports, on the technique of interrupted urination, on compensatory aids for incontinent patients and about the necessity to limit the intake of irritable food as well. Also, a nurse should teach an ill woman exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor (Kegel exercise). Urinary incontinence is defined as the unwanted leakage of urine, which causes a hygienic or social problem and, at the same time, it is also objectively demonstrable. It is a symptom that may have various causes. Consequences of incontinence translate into all areas of social life. In the interest of uniting the diagnostics and treatment of incontinence, the ICS (International Continence Society) classification is currently recommended, which distinguishes four types of incontinence: urgent, reflex, stress and paradoxical. The most frequent subtype is stress incontinence, followed by mixed and urgent incontinence. The organization of the care of incontinent patients has three levels: primary care, secondary care and tertiary care. The present situation in the Czech Republic is marked by the merging of the secondary and tertiary level of care, for the majority of specialized workplaces are part of in-patient establishments in the sense of urogynaecologic clinics. The care of incontinent patients requires a holistic approach. The aim of the nursing care of incontinent patients is to minimize the leakage of urine, to preserve or restore the normal excretion of urine while preventing relevant risks at the same time. In the course of my research I would like to find out how nurses ensure the process of nursing incontinent patients, whether nurses inform incontinent patients about the exercises of pelvic floor muscles and about the drinking regimen and whether these patients are informed about compensatory aids for the incontinent. The hypothesis that nurses, within the nursing process, do not focus on the support of a patient{\crq}s self-assessment has not proven true. The hypothesis that nurses instruct the patients in exercises of pelvic floor muscles has proved true. The hypotheses that patients who suffer from incontinence are informed about aids that compensate their incontinence and that nurses instruct patients suffering from incontinence in the drinking regimen have proven true. Urinary incontinence continues to be taboo in our society. Many consider it as a natural part of the ageing process. Nowadays, there already exists effective treatment, it is only necessary to confide in a physician about one{\crq}s problem. However, prevention is also important here. Basically simple and mostly also generally known prevention will save many finances and, first and foremost, complaints.
Sleep disturbances of clients in old people´s homes
HADAČOVÁ, Jana
Abstract This bachelor work entitled ``Sleep disorders with clients in senior homes{\crqq} has been chosen in order to study the development of sleep in elderly. Sleep is an integral part of our lives, and our need for sleep changes with increasing age. We sleep not only to rest and regenerate our strenth, but also in order to maintain mental and physical health. The need of sleep is very individual and depends among other things on daily activity, age and the overall condition of the organism. The character of sleeping changes with increasing age and it is difficult to decide in individual cases whether the actual problems are normal or already pathological. The quality of sleep is negatively affected by factors such as greef, loneliness, enxiety or change of environment. The elderly generally tend to retire to rest earlier in the day, they however take longer to fall asleep, often wake up during the night, rise early but on the other hand nap during the day. For better classification of sleep disorders, a new version of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders {--} ICSD, was conducted in 1990, in colaboration with several associations and organisations researching these disorders. Sleeping disorders can, according to the international classification, be devided into primary disorders, such as dyssomnia and parasomnia, and secondary disorders connected to somatic or mental ilnesses. The causes of sleep disorder can vary greatly and therefore the diagnostics must be thorough. Here, nurses also greatly participate to the diagnostics. This research was conducted in order to find out what types of sleep disorders clients of senior homes suffer from, whether they are informed about the topics and how suitable their sleeping environment is. The hypothesis that clients in senior homes suffer from sleeping disorders has been proved. The hypothesis that client are informed about the problem has been proved as well, but with a very small difference from the opposite hypothesis. The hypothesis about the lack of knowledge for methods for obtaining quality sleep has been proved, while the hypothesis that client have suitable environment for sleeping has been disproved. The role of nurses is very important here, as they are always close by. They should be involved in the problems the clients have and they should try solving them by other methods than pharmacologically. Nurses should be sufficiently informed about the sleeping disorder problem and know how to use the knowledge in practical situations. Sleep is after all important for a total regeneration of the body and for regaining vitality.

The integration of students from Faculty of Health and Social Studies to the nursing team from the student´s point of view
BRADOVÁ, Zuzana
The education of nurses takes place in double environment; each of them is equally important (university and clinical practice). One of most important elements, influencing the contribution and quality of the hands-on training, is surely the rate of the integration of students to the nursing staff. The process of the integration is very complex, depending on various factors that may affect it negatively as well as positively. The principal aim of the bachelor work was to determine the rate of the integration of the students of our faculty to a nursing team during the course of training from the point of view of a student from field of study Nurse. I suppose that the objects of the work were fulfilled and the hypotheses, by virtue of the evaluation of results, confirmed.
Explanation and reasurance of children before operations
ČADKOVÁ, Barbora
The title of my bachelor diploma thesis is {\clqq}Explanation and reasurance of children before operations``. In the introduction I dealt with a theory of how important a role of a reasurance nurse and other hospital staff is during hospitalization of a child, what the role of the parents is and how necessary it is to prepare the child psychologically for hospitalization and curing process, which the child has to go through during the stay in hospital. Based on this theory I set goals and hypotheses which I tried to confirm or contradict by a research in a form of questionnaires or dialogues. The results of the research are stated in graphs in practical part. In the conclusion and discussion the results are interpreted.
