Bogomolova, Anna ; Filippov, Sergej (advisor) ; Štěpánek, Miroslav (referee) ; Hanyková, Lenka (referee)
Title: Self-assembly in mixture of surfactants and stimuli-responsive polymers with complex architecture Author: Anna Bogomolova Department: Physical and Macromolecular Chemistry Supervisor: PhD. Sergey K. Filippov, IMC AS CR, v.v.i. Supervisor's e-mail address: filippov@imc.cas.cz Abstract: The issue of construction of complex multi-block copolymers is currently one of the most researched areas. It became a logic consequence of the continuous development in polymer chemistry. Nowadays, a great interest is attracted to multi- responsive block copolymers. As a rule, they consist of hydrophilic, hydrophobic and responsive blocks. That responsive block can be either thermo-sensitive or pH-sensitive as well as sensitive to some other external stimuli. In the present work, we will try to cover topic of stimuli-responsive block copolymers and their interactions with different types of surfactants. Understanding of polymer/surfactant interactions can be a crucial step for future modeling of drug/polymer or protein(DNA)/surfactant interactions. There is a great interest in the investigation of polymer-surfactant interactions. However, while the homopolymer-surfactant interactions are characterized well enough, the same interactions for block copolymers are poorly described. The main development in the latter topic...
Measurement and evaluation of elongational viscosity of selected biomaterials
Šustková, Hana ; Krakovský, Ivan (advisor) ; Fortelný, Ivan (referee)
Measurement and evaluation of elongational viscosity of selected biomaterials Bachelor thesis abstract Hana Šustková 20.5.2011 This thesis analyzes the elongational viscosity of the biomaterials. The basic concepts related to the issue of measurement of shear and elongational viscosity of melts in particular focusing on the SER rheometer, which was used in the experiment, were presented. With SER rheometer elongational viscosity of BioFlex samples of BioFlex, PA6 and their mixtures at temperatures of 225o C and 235o C for ten Hencky different strain rates from 0.1 to 10 s−1 were studied. In the experiment rectangular specimens prepared for different content of Bioflex and Polyamide PA6 were used. Based on the data presented in this thesis some features of the internal structure of used bio- material, and its possible practical applications, further and qualitative changes in its properties in the mixture were described. It was shown that the linear viscoelastic response of BioFlex is two orders of magnitude below in comparison to the response of PA6 and in the temperature range the linear viscoelastic response does not change. It is shown that in mixtures with BioFlex and PA6 the BioFlex shows a signifi- cant proportion of the linear viscosity range - and at low concentrations of BioFlex in comparison to PA6...
Preparation and characterization of nanoparticles formed by polymer-surfactant complexes
Dvořák, Filip ; Štěpánek, Miroslav (advisor) ; Netopilík, Miloš (referee)
In this work, copolymers of celulose-g-polystyrene (cel-PS) and celulose-g- poly(methylmetacrylate) (cel-PMMA) were characterized using static and dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Preparation of nanoparticles of these hydrophobic copolymers in aqueous solution was further studied, by means of precipitation from dioxane solutions using water with added low-molar-mass surfactants sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTMAB). It was shown that the ability of the surfactants to stabilize polymer nanoparticles is driven not only by the hydrophobic effect, but it depends also on specific interactions of the polar group of the surfactant with the surface of the nanoparticles. On the basis of the finding that the efficiency of stabilization of cel-PS copolymers is much higher than in case of linear PS, it can be concluded, that the branched structure of copolymers is favorable for the formation of hydrofobically stabilised polymer-surfactant complexes.

Consequently, educational materials in the form of PowerPoint presentations, websites, worksheets, tests, games and experiments focused on the themes of synthetic macromolecular substances and new materials were created. Materials were processed in accordance with the Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education (Grammar Schools) as well as in accordance with the requirements of the Catalogue of graduation exam requirements from chemistry. The PowerPoint presentation and the webpage on synthetic macromolecular materials were roughly evaluated by group of teachers and the results of the evaluation are also part of the thesis....
Preparation and characterization of superparamagnetic inorganic/polymer particles for biomedical application
Zasońska, Beata Anna ; Horák, Daniel (advisor) ; Šafařík, Ivo (referee) ; Sysel, Petr (referee)
Superparamagnetic -Fe2O3 nanoparticles were synthesized by coprecipitation of ferric and ferrous salts with a base. Resulting nanoparticles were coated with shells, such as poly(N,N- dimethylacrylamide) (PDMAAm), neat and functionalized silica (SiO2 and SiO2-NH2), and polyaniline (PANI). PDMAAm shell was introduced by modification of iron oxide nanoparticle surface with an initiator and N,N-dimethylacrylamide was polymerized producing -Fe2O3&PDMAAm core-shell particles. In case of SiO2-NH2 shell, tetramethyl orthosilicate was used to yield -Fe2O3&SiO2 nanoparticles, which were subsequently modified by (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane to prepare γ-Fe2O3&SiO2-NH2 particles. Oxidation of aniline hydrochloride with ammonium persulfate in an aqueous solution of poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) in the presence of iron oxides produced -Fe2O3&PANI nanoparticles. Finally, the last type of the particles was based on thionin-modified poly(carboxymethyl methacrylate) (PCMMA&Th). The particles were characterized by techniques, such as scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) to determine the particle morphology and hydrodynamic diameter. The presence of the functional groups, chemical composition, and the iron content were investigated by Fourier-transform...

Web Application for Managing Notes
Hrdina, Jan ; Očenášek, Pavel (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
The thesis deals with design and implementation of a web application for managing tree-structured notes. Its aim is to fulfill the true potential of using computers in this area. It tries to achieve this goal using (1) multiple ways of viewing and editing one data, (2) focusing the data-model primarily on the meaning of stored information instead of appearance and (3) implementing tools for interactive work with text (e.g. attaching multimedia). Apart from the application design itself, the text briefly goes through modern trends in web applications development, it defines the basic concepts in relation to existing tools for managing notes and outlines wide possibilities of further development. The application itself was implemented using technologies such as Polymer, TypeScript or Firebase.
