The theses named Subculture of a tattoo, Content analysis of a magazine Inked is primary focused on the nowadays phenomenon of a tattoo, there then the whole development of this social subculture. The aim of this thesis is to sum up and analyse the term of subculture, to see in detail the historical beginnings and development of tattooing, to describe functions, motivations and the reasons of an actual act of a tattoo. The main focus will be set on the American lifestyle magazine Inked. I will try to analyse this printed media, which targets on the tattoo subculture, culture itself, style and art. This thesis will characterise the magazine and will basically follow the Inked in two year time period. Which are the years 2009 and 2010, my interest is focused in this theme agenda and its development during this period of time. The researching method will then be a quantitative content analysis. Key words: Tattoo, tattouage, subculture, history, phenomenon, skin, motif, colour, development, function, analysis, research, Inked, magazine.
The development of death rates due to selected neoplasms in the European union between the years 1996-2010
Chaloupka, Ondřej ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
In all of the developed countries, malignant neoplasms are, along with cardiovascular diseases, among the most frequent causes of death. This tendency persists in the European Union countries for many years. The goal of this diploma thesis is to analyze the development of mortality caused by selected malignant neoplasms in the European Union countries from the year 1996 until 2010. The analysis is divided into 4 sections. Aside from standard demographic methods of evaluating the mortality rates by means of age-adjusted death rates calculation, statistical methods are used in this thesis as well. Primary methods used are Joinpoint regression, analysis of the course of specific death rates according to age groups and cluster analysis. In the observed period of time, mortality caused by stomach, cervical, and within the male population also respiratory tract malignant neoplasms declines. On the contrary, within the female population, the death rate caused by respiratory tract malignant neoplasms increases. Malignant skin melanoma represent a great future danger concerning the male population, and malignant pancreatic neoplasms concerning both genders. Over the observed time period, malignant skin melanoma death rate almost doubled in some of the countries. Within the European Union, the variations...

Valerianová, Dita ; Fexová, Patricie (referee) ; Rathouský, Luděk (advisor)
This work contains 20 oil paintings with dimensions 20x40 cm. On each of them I (the woman) is disguised as a man. Clothing changes as much as in a computer game when skin features are selected. This work touches on gender issues and feminism. I try to empathize with men, at least through disguise.
Psychogalvanic reflex
Peterová, Soňa ; Harabiš, Vratislav (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the description, origin and possibilities of measurement psychogalvanic reflex. Also included will be the proces to measure the phenomen using either AC or DC. Psychogalvanic reflex is also associated with supraliminal stimulus. Activation or deactivation of sweat glands, controlled by free will of man, are responsive to this initiative. Attention is also given the characteristics of the electric current on human beings and the associated security scan on a living subject.
Study of penetration of selected substances from elderberry extracts through biological membrane
Škubalová, Zuzana ; Němcová, Andrea (referee) ; Vespalcová, Milena (advisor)
This Diploma thesis focuses on the study of penetration of selected phenolic substances contained in extract from black elder (Sambucus nigra) via modelling systems represented by two types of synthetic membranes and a real system represented by a biological membrane. As a biological membrane, we have chosen skin from pig´s earlobe. Experiments of transdermal absorption and absorption through synthetic membranes were conducted through vertical (Franz´s) cells. Selected substances contained in the extract from black elder were rutin and chlorogenic acid. The main focus of this work was to determine how readily, or if at all, these two selected phenolic substances penetrate the skin and selected synthetic membranes. The percentage of absorbed amount of the substance was determined by HPLC analysis.
Case study of a patient with the diagnosis of burns II.-III. grade to 40% of body
Šrámková, Šárka ; Vrbová, Martina (advisor) ; Křížek, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Case study of a patient with the diagnosis of burns II.-III. grade to 40% of body Objectives: The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to work out a detailed case study of rehabilitation care of a patient with burns and literature search of this topic. Another goal is to acquire comprehensive teoretic and practical knowledge about this diagnosis. Methods: I used assay and physiotherapeutic approaches which I learned during the bachelor studies at FTVS UK. The general part informs about anatomy and physiology of the skin, about diagnostics of degree and extent of burns, methods of treatment, physical and psychological rehabilitation. Special part includes methodology of the work, anamnesis, opening kinesiologic analysis, individual therapies, outcoming kinesiologic analysis, the effect of the therapy and end. Results: I worked out a detailed case study of a patient with this diagnosis and a literature search has been worked out. The main contribution of the work was the possibility to gain new experiences and knowledge to this diagnosis.
Characterization of the role of SPINK 6 in the epidermis using transgenic models
Buryová, Halka ; Sedláček, Radislav (advisor) ; Entlicher, Gustav (referee)
Epidermal homeostasis, including proper turnover of keratinocytes, plays important role in the barrier function and serine proteases and their inhibitors are the key players. Activated proteases cleave desmosomes in uppermost layer and thus shed the cells from the epidermal surface. Therefore the serine protease inhibitors are secreted in lower epidermal layers to prevent premature activation of proteases and consequent disruption of epidermal barrier. The most studied inhibitors in epidermis belong to Serine proteases inhibitors Kazal-type family (SPINK). This diploma thesis is aimed to investigate function of murine SPINK6 in epidermal compartment in vivo. To achieve this, the transgenic mice overexpressing mSPINK6 under modified human involucrin promoter was generated. Two of five transgenic lines exhibited higher expression of mSPINK6 at mRNA and protein levels. The mSPINK6 transgenic mice are viable with no apparent phenotype. The small but in most cases not significant differences were observed on microscopic level among mSPINK6 transgenic and wild type animals In conclusion, this work showed that mSPINK6 does not play major role in skin homeostasis but gains significant importance under specific challenges of epidermal barrier. Therefore mSPINK6 transgenic mice, in combination with other deletion or...
Skin resist and psycho-galvanic reflex
Trávníčková, Hana ; Bubník, Karel (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to clarify the phenomenon called psychogalvanic reflex, describe mechanism of its origin, its affects and use in practice. It analyzes the structure of the skin and its properties in terms of conducting electrical current, describes the phenomenon itself and discusses the conditions for its measurement. The practical part is devoted to the concept and realization of a simple psychogalvanometer. This device is connected with PC and acquired signal is processed by LabView.
Measurement of thickness of skin and subcutaneous tissue in B-mode ultrasound image
Moldříková, Zuzana ; Štohanzlová, Petra (referee) ; Šrámek, Jaromír (advisor)
In the first part this bachelor thesis deals with theoretical analysis of terms, which are needed for understanding and algorithm proposition for skin thickness and subcutaneous tissue direct measurement. Second part of this thesis deals with implementation of algorithm. In six chapters there are described terms like skin and subcutaneous tissue, adiposity, Body Composition Analysis, ultrasound, B-mode and basics of image processing, which are going to be needed for processing of ultrasound image and algorithm creation. Chapter seven includes description of algorithm implementation and description of its structure. There is also analyzed clinical verification of functionality on phantom and some volunteers. The chapter is concluded with evaluation and discussion of gained results.
