Studený, Vojtěch ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
Mathematical models of gasification are suitable for predicting gas composition and its properties. The aim of the diploma thesis is to compile a mathematical model for biomass gasification. The first part deals with the description of gasification and the technologies used. Theoretical part consists of the search of modeling methods. Other theoretical part is devoted to the description of the model and equations presented in the thesis. Part of the assignment is a parametric study that shows changes in gas production and its properties when changing the parameters. Finally, the model is compared with the data obtained in the experiment on the fluid reactor biofluid 2.
Effects of hydrogen addition to natural gas on steam boiler operating parameters
Kocman, Lukáš ; Skála, Zdeněk (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This work deals with the influence of hydrogen addition to natural gas on the parameters of steam boiler operation. In the first part of the work, a steam boiler for natural gas is designed, which is then recalculated for natural gas with a volume concentration of hydrogen in the range of 5–50 %. Calculations for individual concentrations were performed in the Mathcad program and were placed in the appendices. Finally, the results are summarized and commented.
The use of advanced composite materials for the design of concrete structures
Bártová, Denisa ; Matušíková, Anna (referee) ; Girgle, František (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of FRP reinforced concrete structures. The theoretical part is focused mainly on the punching shear of a flat two way slab according to ACI, fib Bulletin, CSA, and JSCE standards. This thesis also includes a description of the punching shear resistance according to Eurocode 2. FRP reinforcement, its mechanical properties, and their behaviour in time are also described. Next, a parametric study was performed that examines the effects of various parameters on the punching shear resistance according to the standards mentioned above. At the end a non-linear analysis using the ATENA software was performed. The practical part includes a structural design of a flat two way slab. The slab uses a steel reinforcement at the bottom, while the top is reinforced with FRP reinforcement. The punching shear design is also included. In the last chapter the serviceability limit state is checked, specifically the slab long-term deflection. The thesis also includes drawings. All calculations were performed in accordance with Eurocode 2 and fib Bulletin No. 40.
Software support in creating a complex calculation tool
Zich, Jan ; Jegla, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (advisor)
The master’s thesis is focused on the calculation of a heat exchanger with a crossflowed tube bundle found most in the air-cooled heat exchangers. The knowledge gained from the literature search is used to create libraries, giving a choice of several different methods in the hydraulic and thermal calculation as well as other key areas. These libraries allow their implementation in the comprehensive computational software P.E.C. developed at the Institute of Process Engineering. The thesis includes a verification of the correctness of the library’s calculations with showcased problems as well as 2 parametric studies. These investigate the dependencies of the transverse and longitudinal pitch on some of the process parameters of the heat exchanger.
Analysis of performance of embankment constructed on subsoil improved by vertical drains
Kováč, Vladimír ; Miča, Lumír (referee) ; Chalmovský, Juraj (advisor)
The thesis deals with the back analysis of the instrumentated embankment on the subsoil, improved by prefabricated vertical drains. The first part is devoted to the theory of consolidation calculation. Furthermore, the author deals with a parametric study of the analytical calculation of prefabricated drains and the comparsion of the analytical and numerical solution. The last and the largest part of the work is a back analysis of the embankment which was built as a part of the subsoil improvement near the Suez Canal in Egypt by Keller GmbH.
Parametric study of road communications
Píštěk, Petr ; Matuszková, Radka (referee) ; Kosňovský, Michal (advisor)
The goal of the bachelor’s thesis is a parametric study of a road Uherský Ostroh - Hluk. Both vilages are situated in Zlin region. It is situated 28km southern from city Zlin. The goal of study is adopt work with projection software and comparison different categories of road in the same maps background. There are designed 3 categories S7,5; S9,5; S11,5. Variants are led across the agriculture area. Each variant include old and new road.
Numerical simulation of volume changes of selected cementitious composites
Drbušková, Magdaléna ; Veselý,, Václav (referee) ; Keršner, Zbyněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with volume changes of selected cementitious composites. They are divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical section describes the volume changes that occur in concrete structures. The practical part is focused primarily on the initial stage of shrinkage specimens of two-component cement composite (cement paste + aggregate) and it´s numerical simulation. For analysis were used SpatiDist and FyDiK 2D computer applications. It was simulating shrinkage of specimens with and without notch to compare. The result is a parametric study which reflects the influence of type and size of grain aggregate and shrinkage degree of cementitious paste.
Design of concrete structures reinforced with non-metallic FRP reinforcement
Golisová, Michaela ; Januš, Ondřej (referee) ; Kostiha, Vojtěch (advisor)
This diploma thesis investigates the design of concrete structures reinforced with non-metallic FRP reinforcement with a focus on solving the bearing capacity in extrusion. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part begins with an introduction to FRP reinforcement and a description of shear stress. The following is an introduction to current approaches dealing with this issue. In the practical part, in connection with these regulations, parametric studies are developed to compare the influence of individual input parameters and selected regulations. The last part is dedicated to the design and nonlinear analysis performed in the ATENA software.
Analysis of a joint of steel tubes members and its practical use in load-bearing structure of a pedestrian bridge
Kuttelwascherová, Olga ; Balázs, Ivan (referee) ; Pešek, Ondřej (advisor)
This master‘s thesis deals with the analysis of the behaviour of the joint and its subsequent use in the supporting steel structure of the pedestrian bridge. The detail in question may find application as a structural solution for the crossing of closed cross-sections. The analysis of the joint consists of experimental analysis, numerical analysis and parametric study. Furthermore, the structural design of the pedestrian bridge was carried out. The pedestrian bridge is located in the grounds of a primary school in Litomyšl. It enables the connection of two existing buildings. In the design of the pedestrian bridge, the detail in question is used at the crossing point of the bracings. All steel elements are designed in S355 structural steel. In addition, wooden elements for the walking surface are designed in C30 coniferous wood and glass panes acting as a curtain made of insulating glass. Dlubal RFEM was chosen for the numerical analysis, parametric study and the structural model of the pedestrian bridge.
Computational modelling of the low-profile flexible support of the pad of journal bearing
Kudláčová, Martina ; Pavlík, Ondřej (referee) ; Pokorný, Jan (advisor)
Aerodynamic tilting pad journal bearings are currently one of the most widely used bearing types in high-speed rotary devices. In order to ensure better rotor stability under harsh operating conditions, research is underway on a new type of aerodynamic bearings with flexible support of tilt pads. The first chapters of this thesis are focused on an overview of bearing theory with a focus on aerodynamic bearings. The thesis presents the current state of research in the field of aerodynamic foil bearings and aerodynamic tilting pad journal bearings with an emphasis on pad support options. The aim of the final thesis is to determine the geometry of the low-profile flexible support of the pads for a specified bearing using computational modeling. A computational model was created, the results of which were verified experimentally using the method of digital image correlation (DIC). A parametric study was carried out using a computational model which allowed a comprehensive view of the issue of the dependence of the support parameters of the segment on its force and stiffness. Based on the results of the parametric study, the geometry of the low-profile flexible support of the pads for the specified bearing was determined.
