Ekonomie zlatého zločinu
Mlčoch, Tomáš ; Schwarz, Jiří (advisor) ; Dušek, Libor (referee)
This master's thesis examines a criminal response to the sharp increase in the real gold price between the years 1998 and 2012. By using a regression analysis, I show that an increase in the real gold price does not have a significant impact on the number of golden crimes but the gold price significantly influences the stolen amount of gold with the elasticity of 2.2. In addition, an increase of lagged real wage and non-lagged real wage, and the number of prisoners significantly decreases golden crime whereas increased unemployment has a negative impact. Moreover, I find that in all types of a regression analysis (daily, monthly and quarterly) higher temperature and also lower cloudiness (as proxies for the good weather) significantly increase the golden crime rate. The daily model also revealed that during weekends and holidays there is significantly and markedly lower crime.
Sázení na loterie a sportovní události z pohledu behaviorální ekonomie
Mikulka, Jakub ; Koblovský, Petr (advisor) ; van Koten, Silvester (referee)
This thesis deals with the relationship between mood and behavior of bettors using a dataset provided by a betting company, Chance a.s., which operates in the Czech Republic. We consider three types of proxies for the mood: weather in regions, sport successes and the results of elections, and we build a fixed effect model to estimate the effect of mood on betting behavior. We provide strong evidence that the weather proxy has a significant effect on daily turnovers of the betting company and there also seems to be an effect of sport optimism. On the contrary, we failed to find any impact of elections. The results show that better mood tend to discourage clients from sports and lottery betting which is consistent with the increase in risk aversion or the depletion of a common self-control resource due to active mood regulation attempts. Additionally, we provide an evidence that the intra-month cycle in turnovers corresponds to liquidity constraint of bettors which disproves the permanent income hypothesis.
The influence of bioclimatic factors and processes on health
BLAŽKOVÁ, Klára
This thesis is focused on impacts that climatic and meteorological phenomena may display in reference to human´s health. Body of thesis is based on analysis of czech reference sources as well as foreign sources that discuss given issues. We found out that phenomena and effects that may affect our health are numerous. Most of them work complexly and interact with each other. It is hard to distinguish every single phenomenon, because it always works simultaneously with others. When defining an influence of effect that affects given area of health, it is necessary to calculate with genetic burden, diet, lifestyle etc. Factors that are mostly discussed in current reference books are sunshine, polluted atmosphere and radical weather changes. Moreover, nowadays is also the anthropogenic electromagnetic pollution (which is a product of mechanization and medialisation of modern world) a subject of discussion. In this thesis we sorted out and systematically elaborated all available information about changes in health, which appear in human organism under influences of climatic and meteorological phenomena.
The wheat quality comparison in terms of selected agricultural company
DUPALOVÁ, Šárka
The aim of this study was to compare the quality criteria of food wheat in the selected farm Kooprodukt, a.s for a period 2010-2014. Laboratory tests were tested in five wheat varieties content of bulk density, Zeleny test, falling numbers, N - substances, wet gluten and grain yield. Varieties with quality A - (excellent) reached higher values in almost all monitored parameters, especially the content of N-substances, falling number and in grain yield. On the other hand they were more influenced by weather. Varieties of quality B had lower values in the Zeleny test, wet gluten and falling numbers. The content of N - substances and the density differences were not so significant. Bread varieties Simila and Meritto did not show large differences in individual years and variety Beduin had the greatest variability. All evaluated parameters including revenues were influenced the most by course of the weather, at the Zeleny test it was larger genotype
Which factors affect the attendance of Terezin Memorial?
Rezbáriková, Lucie ; Lahvička, Jiří (advisor) ; Brožová, Dagmar (referee)
This work analyzes factors, who affect the attendance of the Terezin Memorial. In my work I used data of daily attendance during the years 2003-2012. Increase of the price of one crown causes a decrease in attendance ceteris paribus by 0,55 % in the area of the Small Fortress, by 0,98 % in the area of the Ghetto Museum and by 0,80 % in the building of the Magdeburg Barracks. Daily rainfalls has an insignificant effect in all three models despite some parts of expositions are placed in open-air locations. The daily temperature affects the attendance positively only it is less than 16°C in the Small Fortress, then begins to decrease. The temperature increases the attendance positively only it is less than 17°C in the Ghetto Museum and 15°C in the Magdeburg Barracks. The area of Magdeburg Barracks has only indoor expositions. The infulence of weekends was proved as negatively in all three areas which is different from other works. The Terezin Commemoration Ceremony increases the number of visitors ceteris paribus over 200 % in all three models. The increase of the price in the combined ticket (allowing entry in all three areas at a bargain price) increases the attendance of Czechs ceteris paribus by 0,68 %. It doesn't have a significant impact in the case of foreign visitors. The daily temperature affects the attendance of Czechs positively only it is less than 13°C, in the case of foreing visitors until 21°C. Kever Avot (commemoration act) increases the attendance of Czechs and decreases the attendance of foreigners.
