Evaluation of nutritional status and cardiac risk in patients with anorexia nervosa.

Anorexia nervosa (MA) is serious psychiatric disease associated with significant mortality. One of the main causes of mortality in these patients is cardiac complications. In 2003 - 2010 we examined 30 patients with established diagnosis of MA. Routinely used nutritional parameters are normal even in severe malnutrition in MA patients and we can ́t use them to diagnose or monitor nutritional status. Therefore we evaluated plasma aminoacids levels to detect minor changes of protein metabolism. According to our results we found mild hyperaminoacidemia and significant elevation of Gly/Val and Phe/Tyr ratio. In the second part of our research we performed non invasive examination s in risky patients with AN to consider possible cardiac complications. Results of ECG and echocardiography confirm results of the previous published studies. Original finding is significant decrease in flow mediated dilatation of brachial artery and its normalization after realimentation. We found also in ambulatory blood pressure monitoring significant decrease in blood pressure during the active period which was the consequence of changes in the heart rate variability. Heart rate variability analysis from sleep ECG

This bachelor thesis deals with an analysis of heart rate variability from sleep ECG. The thesis is divided into two parts, the first one is theoretical part and describes the physiology of heart and respiratory system, ECG curve, sleeping phases, apnea, and above all analysis of heart rate variability of ECG. In the practical part, using MATLAB software, was developed an algorithm of the analysis. The algorithm was tested on real signals from a publicly accessible database. The difference between the physiological ECG and the ECG with apnea is statistically evaluated using sing parameters from the time and frequency domain. Kruskal-Wallis statistic test confirms that there is a significant difference between the physiological signal and the apnea signal.

The first part summarizes former researches of physiological data and its assertation into human behaviour. Special attention is devoted especially to eye tracking and measuring heart rate during behavioral processes. The second part is dedicated to author's own research how blink rate and heart rate are influenced by the degree of cognitive load. The research was executed on six subjects. Examination of vegetative system in hereditary neuropathy

Aim: The aim of this thesis "Examination of vegetative system in hereditary neuropathy" is to consider the level of physical fitness, physical actvity level and quality of autonomic function in patients with hereditary neuropathy Charcot Marie Tooth and an assessment of interactions of these parameters, especially with regard to possible influence by the presence of autonomic neuropathy and with regard to neurological symptoms. Background: Although vegetative neuropathy was mentioned in the first publication about CMT, it is not widely discussed topic as part of it. Methods: Seventeen probands underwent spiroergometry, heart rate variability test, six minute walk test, rating by the CMT Neuropathy Score and Overall neuropathy disability scale and completing the IPAQ questionnaire. Results: We found symptoms of autonomic neuropathy in group of patients with CMT, especially high-frequency part of heart rate variability spectrum has a particularly significant decrease. Patients with autonomic neuropathy have shown a low fitness and functional capacity, tendency to obesity and hypertension. The observed correlation of autonomic neuropathy and neurological impairment was very weak. Automatic Analysis of Heart Rate Variability Signals

This dissertation thesis is dedicated to the heart rate variability and methods of its evaluation. It mainly focuses on nonlinear methods and especially on the Poincaré plot. First it deals with the principle and nature of the heart rate variability, then the ways of its representation, linear and also nonlinear methods of its analysis and physiological and pathophysiological influence on heart rate variability changes. In particular, there is emphasis on the metabolic syndrome. In the next section of the thesis there are compared and evaluated different ways of representation of the heart rate variability and further are tested selected methods of heart rate variability analysis on unique data from patients with the metabolic syndrome and healthy subjects provided by the Institute of Scientific Instruments, Academy of Sciences of Czech Republic. In particular, they are used the Poincaré plot and its parameters SD1 and SD2, commonly used time domain and frequency domain parameters, parameters evaluating signal entropy and the Lyapunov exponent. SD1 and SD2 combining the advantages of time and frequency domain methods of heart rate variability analysis distinguish successfully between patients with the metabolic syndrome and healthy subjects.

Preprocessing of R-R interval tachogram

Heart rate variability (HRV) is a parameter, which monitors variability of the time intervals between consecutive heart beats. Signal HRV contains artefacts and trends, which is necessary to remove before further processing. This work contains a brief information about the HRV and ECG signal processing. Further on the most frequently methods of heart rate variability preprocessing are described. The work includes a brief assessment of each method. Further on, several of the mentioned preprocessing algorithms are realized and described in this work. The last part is testing an evaluating of programmed algorithms on generated data and then demonstration on real data.
Heart Rate Variability Measurement Device

The aim of this thesis was to develop a device that will receive the signal from sporttester belt and then that signal will be processed. The meter is based on development kit STM32 Primer 2. To receive signals from sporttester belts uses sensor RMCM-01 Polar. The meter allows measurement of parameters of heart variability, recording on a memory card and work with the measured data from the memory card.
Nonlinear methods of heart rate variability analysis in metabolic syndrome

This work deals with the problematic of heart rate variability of patients with metabolic syndrome. Includes the theory, which describes the heart rate variability and the methods for its analysing. Especially it specifies nonlinear methods, particularly Lyapunov exponent and its calculation in Matlab software. Algorithm of the calculation is applicated to already measured tachogram of the healthy people and patients with the metabolic syndrome. Further, this work deals with general valorization of the results using Lyapunov exponent and her eis also done the statistical evaluation.
Detrending heart rate variability signal with empirical mode decomposition EMD

HRV analysis is an important indicator of pathophysiological examination. R-R waves are used for detection and analysis of ECG interval. R-R intervals can be analyzed by various methods. During spectral analysis is an often phenomenon disturbing non-stationary trend, which needs to be removed. In this paper, which deals about detrending, is mainly introduced Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) which is popular in recent years. Subsequently, this method is being compared to the method of wavelet transformation and Smoothness prior apprach (SPA).
