Acculturation Strategies in Musical Self-presentations of Immigrants in the Czech Republic
Skořepová, Zita ; Jurková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Stavělová, Daniela (referee)
This thesis is based on my research dealing with musicians - members of different immigrant minority communities, who explicitly identify themselves with their ethnicity and the region of their origin. The musicians mention that they come, e.g., from Cuba, Ukraine or generally from "Central Asia" and the music offered to the audience is presented as "Cuban", "Ukrainian folk" or "traditional music of Central Asia". The subject of study are their concerts, regarded as musical occasions - performances - with defined modes of participants' interaction. In the Goffmanian sense, the meaning of each selfpresentation is determined by the behavior of the musicians during the performances, and the repertoire, place and occasion of the event and type of audience are considered as "bearers of sings". In their self-presentations, the musicians expose in various ways who they are, where they come from and in various ways present the musical (not only) culture of their origin. Inspiring myself by typology of acculturation strategies formulated by John W. Berry (Berry et al., 1997), I try to identify acculturation strategies based on factors determining the character of the respective musical self-presentations of the immigrants. When can we observe behavior according to the principles of integration on the one...
Social and cultural interpretations of photography
Makovcová, Hana ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Kotík, Michal (referee)
The bachelor's paper Social and Cultural Interpretation of Photography is concerned with social aspects of photography, primarily the way photographs are read, their relation to the social sciences, and the transformation of their functions, from their development to the present time, primarily in relation to the individual concept of the photograph. The text briefly outlines the definition of a photograph as a technical image and the related act of photography, and introduces us to the possibilities of its social examination through visual sociology via visual social facts. It shows photography to be a form of social ritual, a tool for preserving the present and a confirmation of an event, as well as a means of power. It presents the impact of technical reproduction on the mass dissemination of images and the related changes in the relationship to images. It shows the transformation of analogue photographs archived in family albums as a means of preserving family memory and biography, to digital photography that assumes a new role of self-presentation, primarily thanks to the new way of archiving in the virtual environment of social networks, thereby presenting a related theory of individualization.

Smoljaková, Natálie ; Holeček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Martinová, Marta (referee)

It is trying to examine to what extent and in which attributes we can find agreement or disagreement among all respondents and to what extent is this compatible with with the self-view of those judged one. Second part of this thesis was to try to explore if there is any agreement in what is being perceived as sign vehicles and if these sign vehicles are perceived in the same way and if there are some differences in perceiving these sign vehicles, how and why is it happening and what is connecting these components or individuals.

Forms, method and fundamentals themselves - presentation alleged in life university students.
FILIPOVÁ, Darina
Self-presentation is understood as a way how to inform other people about one´s personal attitudes, the aims of one´s behaviour and total life heading of a person. Together with self-knowledge, self-understanding and self-realisation is a part of wider concept of assertiveness. Self-presentation also characterises a person´s lifestyle and shows the ability to present oneself convincingly, clearly, autenticly and effectively to target audience or public. Self-presentation and self-promotion is a lifelong process showing some specifics in forms, methods and principles in university students. This thesis should sum up the ways of appropriate self-presentation of university students and show them that understanding forms, methods and principles of self-presentation can bring success in both university and personal lives. I used a quantitative research techniques, group interviews, individually guided interviews and questionnaires. University students are aware of self-presentation but they mostly use it unwittingly. Students do not use all principles of self-presentation forms so as they could affect the environment both intellectually and emotionally. To broaden their knowledge of appropriate self-presentation, I would introduce seminars where they could learn to communicate and behave assertively.
