Optical network FTTH
Horníček, Lukáš ; Dostál, Otto (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis „Optical Network FTTH“ is a theoretical and practical analysis of problems of optical access networks with respect to current and prospective trends in the construction and operation of these networks. For the clearness of thesis done divided into 6 chapters. The first five chapters deal with the optical access networks at a theoretical level with a touch of practical knowledge in the academic analysis. The first chapter deals with general concepts networks FTTH and defines the reasons for their occurrence. The second thematic chapter specifies an individual topology implemented in optical networks FTTH, their advantages and disadvantages with respect to transfer capacity and the economic-competitive potential of the network. It is defined by a principled division of optical networks in the active and passive with the definition of network architectures, communication models and protocols. The individual architectures are evaluated for suitability in the deployment of networks FTTH. The third and fourth thematic chapters inform readers with the passive and active access network FTTH infrastructure. Passive infrastructure examines the method of construction used in the past decades and the latest technology microtubing that this networks concept prevailed. The fifth thematic chapter provides Triple Play services and reasons for using these services just for FTTH optical networks. The sixth chapter is a crucial element in this thesis. Results and knowledge acquired in previous chapters is applied to real network model. It is defined by imaginary the village "Fektákov" for which they are created by three case studies covering technical and economic documentation for the realization of a real access FTTH network. This allows compare the modern ways of realization network infrastructure, including central office and subscriber terminal equipment. The results of these three case studies, conclusions are drawn that highlight the strengths and weaknesses of these architectures and also suggest the quality and reliability of these networks and the expected future prospects of development. Conclusion of the thesis is an evaluation of all evidence obtained in this work reflects the author's view on current and expected future developments in optical access networks leading its optical fiber to homes or apartments of all households.
Distribution of analog signal by optical fiber
Stiburek, Martin ; Rampl, Ivan (referee) ; Šporik, Jan (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis is focused on analog signals via optical fibers. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part describes the various transmission paths, and compare their advantages. Further describes the optical fiber itself, particularly the negative influences in the transmission, i.e. signal attenuation and dispersion. Attention is paid to the physical elements of the optical transmission system. As the light sources, light detectors, optical amplifiers and most optical transceivers. There are selected three different types of optical transceivers and compared according to their characteristics. Conclusion the first part is devoted to fiber optic signal distribution to the customers. This technology transfer is known as FTTH (Fiber to the Home). The second part is ocuses on the practical realization of optical transmission system. It consists of two optical transceivers - transmitter optical signal and optical signal receiver. Transmission system is designed for transmitting analog television signals without a soundtrack. After construction of the system according to the proposed transfer scheme was successfully simulated using the optical cable length of 3m. However, the circuit allows for its further expansion in order to improve the reproduced signal. Circiut boards were made by using EAGLE program. The result is a functional transfer system.
Design, implementation and measurement of passive optical network
Kužela, Jan ; Horváth, Tomáš (referee) ; Vojtěch, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to formulate the design of optical access network in designated area. The design is focused on the physical network layer and it covers optical fibers, cable protectors and links, optical hubs, racks and active components. The thesis also docu- ments network architecture, the configuration of active components and provides results from monitoring of selected network segments. The thesis consists of the theoretical part and practical part. In the theoretical part, there is an introduction to optical networks, their configurations (FTTH, FTTB, FTTC, FTTN), relevant networking standards and technologies. The practical part of the thesis covers design proposal of a network located in Slavičín. The design reuses infrastructure and technologies of existing network. The proposed design follows FTTH architecture which has benefits of low maintenance cost and it also fulfills GPON standard.
Partial renovation of metropolitan optical network infrastructure
Cichra, Petr ; Lávička Otakar, Mgr., MU, https://is.muni.cz/osoba?prezdivka=xlavick1 (referee) ; Novotný, Vít (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on rebuilding of active metallic-optical network in locality Brno – Zábrdovice, in the streets Šámalova, Kuldova a Krokova on purely passive optical network based on xPON technology with possibility of further expansion of capacity. The partial goal is a thorough analysis of the current state and the main proposal is the solution of modernization of the existing network infrastructure into xPON and then implement this proposal. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis describes the problems associated with these technologies with regard to current and future trends in the construction of optical networks. Furthermore, the economic intensity of the investment in this reconstruction will be evaluated.
The Design of FTTH Network
Zorgani, Nagib Youssef ; Křepelka, Václav (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to explain the problems of optical access networks with wavelength division multiplexers, main purpose is to demonstrate the difference between theoretical and real measurement. The work is divided into several thematic areas. The introduction outlines the basic of telecommunications, fiber optics lasers, single mode, multimode, lasers fibers cables & cores, splitters division multiplexing system, there are known solutions discussed fundamental wavelength multiplexes and their possible combinations. The following chapter deals with the active elements such as AON, PON, which are essential part xWDM systems such as optical lasers, detectors and amplifiers. Another chapter focuses on passive elements, which form a key part of the wavelength multiplex. Methods of measurement of WDM/PON networks are discussed in the following part. The next section describes the topology used active and passive optical networks. The penultimate part of the work consists of architecture & technology of xWDM such as GPON and WDM-PON networks and comparing their transmission parameters. The final part of the paper presents the results of practical experimental measurements of optical access networks with wavelengths division multiplex while these results are compared with the theoretical output & methods of Optical lost test, OTDR & LSPM, with advantage & disadvantage of every methods. The second part of practical is the draft to the connection resident housing units of 30 houses, boarding-house (10 rooms) and 2 shops, 20 km distant from exchange. With comparing the possibilities of two options- passive and active optical network- PON system – WDM- Wave multiplex. Suggest the possibility of measuring and monitoring the created network.
POF - polymer optical fibres
Mikulec, Matěj ; Křepelka, Václav (referee) ; Filka, Miloslav (advisor)
This work focuses on polymer optical fiber (POF). It describes basic properties of polymer optical fibers, materials for production and methods of manufacturing processes. In following chapters are given individual fibers that vary different refractive indexes and diameter of fiber. Also there are analyse connectors which are used for joining. As very suitable solution for home installation seems to be using the system Optolock without connectors. In the work is also written several areas where it is possible to use the POF. It can break through in automotive industry, home networks or as a sensor. The practical part contains measuring polygon draft and FTTH proposal using POF for distribution system in the house, where P2P topology is choosen. It´s also made a proposal for distribution of POF in the apartment. For installation in the apartment prices of network components are compared between POF distribution and UTP cat.6 cabling. UTP cat.6 is in this comparison many times more cheaply. Final chapter evaluate demands on work with POF fibers. Describes preparation of fiber before communication and creation of small experimental network. Important findings of the work are summarized in the conclusion.
