The genus .i.Chironomus./i. MEIGEN (Diptera, Chironomidae) in the Novohradské Mountains (South Bohemia)
Matěna, Josef ; Matěnová, V.
The occurrence of Chironomus species was investigated in Novohradské Mountains during 1999-2001. Fishponds, running waters and small standing waters of both permanent and astatic characters were included. Larvae were identified cytotaxonomically according to polytene chromosomes of salivary glands. Ch. annularius occurred more regularly in fishponds without fishery management, further species were found only in some of these habitats - Ch. balatonicus, bernensis, obtusidens, parathummi, plumosus, sp. - near muratensis and Ch. (C.) tentans. Organically polluted stretches of running waters were characterized by mass occurrence of Ch. riparius. Ch. luridus and Ch. melanotus were the dominant species of small permanent water bodies, further species found in these habitats were Ch. aberratus, commutatus, dorsalis, holomelas, piger and pseudothummi. Astatic habitats - rainpools were inhabited almost exclusively by Ch. dorsalis.
Třeboňsko 2000. Ecology and Economy of the Třeboň Region after 20 years
Pokorný, Jan ; Šulcová, J. ; Hátle, M. ; Hlásek, J.
The conference Třeboňsko 2000, with its sub-title The ecology and economy of the Třeboň Region is the third of such conferences - following two ones, held in 1978 and 1988, respectively. The present conference has continued in the fine tradition of good communication between all the subject areas thet are inevitably involved in, and/or influenced by, the conservation and development of the Třeboň Basin Protected Landscape Area and Biosphere Reserve

Funkce allochtonní organické hmoty v tůni aluvia horní Lužnice
Dvořák, Jan ; Pechar, Libor
Large amounts of leaf litter enter into the pool ecosystem from the canopy of riparian woody plants every year. If the leaf litter is spread out over bottom in a dense layer it becomes a medium for nutrient exchange between the benthic and pelagic zones of the water body. Leaf litter processing was studied in material closed in nylon mesh-bags laid out on the bottom surface from the time of leaf abscission in November 1989 until the next autumn when the bottom was covered by a new leaf layer (exposure time was 372 days). The residual matter becomes deposited in bottom sediments storing the rest of the original nutrient content in an enriched form as immobilization products in the bottom deposits.
Proces diverzifikace chemismu a fytoplanktonu tůní po povodni
Pithart, David
Seven floodplain pools were observed for water chemistry and phytoplankton development in the time of the end of flooding period. After the disconnection from the river stream, pools repidly developed into a heterogeneous file of water bodies in terms of oxygen concentration, chlorophyll a concentration and phytoplankton composition. Morphology, exposition to flooding, exposition to shading vegetation and different source of water inflow were found to be a key factors of this diversification.
