Comparison of database systems from the point of view of database administration
Andreyuk, Yauheniya ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on relational database systems. The main goal of this thesis is to compare two selected database systems - one commercial and one Open Source, which will be compared using criteria, focused on the database administration. The first part provides a theoretical basis concerning the database systems (it will also include a description of the relational principle) and types of licenses under which the software may be issued. The main objective of this section is to create a sufficient theoretical basis for understanding the rest of the paper. The next section explains term database administration and shows the difference between the terms data management and database management. Next follows the analysis of the tasks performed by the database administrator and a description of each task. This part is fundamental for the rest of the thesis, because it will be used as a basis for a comparison. In the next section one Open Source and one commercial relational database system will be chosen. In the part I will also briefly describe the history of each system and their architecture. At the end the two systems are compared. The main asset of this thesis I see in analysis of database administrator tasks and comparison of how different systems help simplify these tasks.
Data quality and its analysis in a non-bank loan company
Vránek, Pavel ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Espinoza, Felix (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on complex elaboration of the subject data quality from the theoretical description of working with data in an information system, through the data quality definition, description of the causes of poor quality of data and consequences, which poor data quality brings, to analyze the quality of data in the non-bank load company. For the analysis of the data quality will be first selected suitable dimensions of data quality, for which will be subsequently defined metrics. These metrics will be then measured over a real data using SQL query language and software designed for the analysis of data quality. The main contribution of this work is complex processing of data quality issues and a demonstration of the real state of data quality in the non-bank loan company. The work offers the possibility of extending the draft procedures and rules for data quality management.
Design and system implementation for portal Andromedia with using relation database technology
Velický, Tomáš ; Pokorný, Jan (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jan (referee)
Design and system implementation for portal Andromedia with using relation database Diploma thesis Author: Ing. Tomáš Velický Supevisor: PhDr. Mgr. Jan Pokorný, Ph.D. Abstrakt The aim of this diploma thesis is the design, implementation and development of database applications for portal Andromedia using database technology. The solution is designed as an information base for continuing professional education. The purpose of the databank is gradually collect information of trends and analyzes in the field of continuing education, ideas and practices, methods, teaching aids, case studies, tests and other guidelines and sources of information. Author documented the results of the analysis of the problem and created solution using methods of project management solutions. The new solution is graphic design, database design and description using the RF model, and UML diagrams. Technologies used in the design databank are the programming language PHP and MySQL relational database. The conclusion evaluates the success of database applications implementation, where is the most interesting findings that the application is used very often in the exam period, when it was mostly used by students to obtain the most suitable materials for self-study. Subsequently, it proposes steps to further improve the sustainability...
Adaptation of Relational Database Schema
Chytil, Martin ; Holubová, Irena (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
In the presented work we study evolution of a database schema and its impact on related issues. The work contains a review of important problems related to the change in a respective storage of the data. It describes existing approaches of these problems as well. In detail the work analyzes an impact of database schema changes on database queries, which relate to the particular database schema. The approach presented in this thesis shows a ability to model database queries together with a database schema model. The thesis describes a solution how to adapt database queries related to the evolved database schema. Finally the work contains a number of experiments that verify a proposal of the presented solution.
Fuzzy database based on an E-R schema
Plachý, Milan ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
This text is especialy intended to those who are interested into fuzzy logic and its application in relational databases. It is mainly focused on concept of fuzzyfied relational database and implementation of such database. This text consists of two parts: theoretical aspects of fuzzyfication and implementation part. Selected extension is based on fuzzy E-R model so the requirements of the real world can be better met. This paper also describes existing solutions on different level of fuzzyfication. Part of the work is design and implementation of a simple software for querying over fuzzyfied relational database. This work shoud also serve as a guide for design and implementation of fuzzy database.
Top-k querying over a relational databases: analysis and problems
Čech, Martin ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Eckhardt, Alan (referee)
Due to increasing capacity of storage devices and speed of computer networks during last years, it is still more required to sort and search data effectively. Query result containing thousands of rows is usually useless and unreadable. In that situation, users may prefer to define constraints and sorting priorities in the query, and see only several top rows from the result. This thesis deals with top-k queries problems, extension of relational algebra by new operators and their implementation in database system. It focuses on optimization of operations join and sort. The thesis includes implementation and comparison of some algorithms in standalone .NET library NRank.
Database design for connecting SAP as a data source for a Web application
MARHOUN, Lukáš
The thesis deals with connecting SAP ERP system via local database system MS SQL Server using the tools SAP BI, data synchronization between systems and advanced usage of T-SQL language for preparing data for web applications and reports written in PHP. The thesis contains a brief overview of the SAP system and the possibility of connecting to the SAP system. The general principles of described solution can be used in conjunction with other systems and programming languages.
Banking Crime Detection using SQL
Nekorancová, Kateřina ; Merunka, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Radek, Radek (referee)
This bachelor thesis on Banking Crime Detection using SQL focuses in theoretical part on approach to databases. It describes progression of database, methods of storing data in databases according to defined rules, interrelationships between tables and normalization process. It contains approach to bank fraud, distribution of fraud, instruments to assist the detection of fraud and follow prevention of iteration whit the use of database systems. Practical part contains proposal possible screenplay fraud uses knowledge of theoretical part. It contains sample tables containig data about clients, filed application and employers, which clients indicated in the application, and blacklist table to authentication company. Tables are linked through keys and suspicionus company are selected from tables. Company is regarded as suspicionus if it grows at the amount of application submitted. That company is verified in table blacklist.
Evidence of students of primary school association
Boháč, Václav ; Brožek, Jiří (advisor) ; Petr, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the analysis, development and implementation of software using Qt framework. It reflects the history of the parents´ association and its need to register pupils attending a primary school, respectively members of the association. The diploma thesis goes through the various phases of design and development software using the Open Unified Process methodology and its subsequent processing using UML. The outputs from the analytical and design parts are then used to implement a custom registration system. This paper describes and compares several methods currently used in software development and introduces the reader to the basic principles of object-oriented programming. It provides an overview of the components and principles of processing framework Qt 5, the SDK development environment and the consequences resulting through practical uses when developing applications.
Design of an Information System Part
Liška, Michal ; Pivovar,, Jiří (referee) ; Neuwirth, Bernard (advisor)
The bachelor thesis focuses on solving the issue regarding enhancing the administration workflow effectiveness at the local election of the representatives. It goes the way of designing a part of the information system – the election application, created in the environment of the MS ACCESS 2013. The thesis is based on the database and information system theories and their use in a production environment. I have used the law normatives of the Czech republic for the organization and election processing based on the specific type of the local authority.
