Identification of historic materials including small samples investigation
Slížková, Zuzana ; Drdácký, Miloš ; Frankeová, Dita
Paper reviews methods for determination of characteristics of historic materials which represents a very frequent task in conservation practice.
Hodnocení mechanických vlastností částicových polymerních kompozitů pomocí měření mikrotvrdosti
Minster, Jiří ; Berka, L. ; Hristova, J.
The applicability of Vickers microhardness measurements for mechanical assessment of heterogeneous polymer composites (filled polymer composites and polymer concretes) is discussed. Two types of composites based on epoxy and polyester matrices were investigated and two types of finely dispersed fillers were used with the 20% volumetric concentration of the individual fillers. The reinforcing effect of the hard filler and changes in the microhardness (i.e. in the yield strengths and moduli) in the neighbourhood of filler micrograins have been substantiated.
Multiscale design of advanced materials
Dlouhý, Ivo ; Švejcar, J. ; Šob, M. ; Strnadel, B.
The proceedings of the 4th konference of PhD students Multiscale design of advanced materials organised in the frame and with financial support of doctoral project of Czech science Foundation No. 106/05/H008.
Funkčnost amorfních uhlíkových povlaků s obsahem křemíku deponovaných použitím nízkotlaké PECVD
Sobota, Jaroslav ; Buršíková, V. ; Fořt, T. ; Grossman, Jan ; Klapetek, P. ; Buršík, Jiří ; Franta, D. ; Peřina, Vratislav
Amorphous carbon films with silicon content were deposited using low pressure PECVD. The films were optimised for deposition on steel substrates. To evaluate the impact resistance of graded amorphous carbon films in dynamic loading wear applications an impact test has been used.
Impact of the orientation and width of wood rings on the spreading of ultrasound in the wood structure
Kloiber, Michal ; Kotlínová, M.
The subject of the paper is the relationship between ultrasound wave velocity in wood, tree rings orientation and width, and wood mechanical properties (MOE in our case). For measuring, the Arborsonic Decay Detector has been chosen. Sound velocity decreased from radial to tangential direction of measurement. In groups with radial (3) and diagonal (2) position of tree ring, increasing of tree ring width has increased sound velocity. In group with tangential tree ring position no significant influence of tree ring width has been found.
Mechanical Properties of TiCN Layers
Bláhová, O. ; Prušáková, L. ; Sobota, Jaroslav ; Fořt, Tomáš ; Grossman, Jan ; Fajkus, M.
The work deals with problems of evaluation mechanical properties of thin wear resistance layers deposited by PACVD method. Nanoindenter XP carried out the nanoindentation measurements with continuous stiffness measurement. The tribological properties were carrying out by high temperature pin-on-disk tribometer and by impact tester.
Development of testing equipment for measuring mechanical properties of cancellous bone
Jiroušek, Ondřej ; Jírová, Jitka ; Vavřík, Daniel
Development of experimental procedures used for evaluation of mechanical properties of cancellous bone using small samples of cylindrical shape. Both the compressive and tensile specimens are tested while for the strain measurement an optical method utilizing CCD camera of high resolution is used. The procedure is used to assess the relationship between the apparent density of the cancellous bone in Hounsfield units obtained from computer tomography scans and viscoelastic material properties used in finite element modeling of whole bones.
Mechanical properties of a fabric reinforced carbon-carbon composite
Starý, V. ; Černý, Martin ; Glogar, Petr ; Houška, L. ; Kotek, Jiří ; Nevoralová, M.
Mechanical properties of plain weave, twill and satin reinforced carbon-carbon composites were investigated in dependence of their heat treatment temperature and impregnation.
Recent developments in understanding structure-property relationship in composite materials
Sklenička, Václav ; Pahutová, Marie ; Kuchařová, Květa
The paper is concerned with the creep properties of metal matrix composites in which the metallic matrix is reinforced through ceramic short-fibres and particles. The future development of the composites is briefly discussed.
