Solution of selected problems from operations research in Matlab
Dubový, Vojtěch ; Zouhar, Jan (advisor) ; Borovička, Adam (referee)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the solution of optimalization tasks selected from operational research within the framework of the general computing environment Matlab. The reader is given information about working environment, basic procedure of dealing with practical tasks and problem solving within operational research. Tasks solutions were achieved by taking advantage of some Toolboxes, for example Optimalisation Toolbox and Yalmip Toolbox. The focus of the work is to present readers with a compact volume of knowledge so that they are able to deal with optimalization tasks in the computing environment Matlab.
Selected models of inventory and their solution in the MS Excel
Fabian, Martin ; Kořenář, Václav (advisor) ; Flusserová, Lenka (referee)
Supplies are in the economy seen as wastage. Economic subject are therefore trying to create conditions in which inventory level is as low as possible. The area of inventory control includes many models for calculation of the optimal values of the ordered quantity, minimum costs etc. For example price discount model or model with the possibility of temporary lack of inventory in store. The computational complexity of these models is not difficult, because there are many simple formulas. The theoretical part describes selected inventory model in more details. The practical part, which is prepared in MS Excel using macros and VBA for Excel, follows up it and shows the application of models in practice.
The use of genetic programming in forex trading strategy development
Líbal, Petr ; Šimůnek, Milan (advisor) ; Berka, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with trading strategy development on foreign market exchange (FOREX) from a perspective of technical analysis. A hypothesis that price data can be used for stable profitable decision making is analyzed. For that purpose, financial data preparation and derived indicators are described in detail. At first, strategies are randomly constructed. Afterward, they are improved iteratively by means of evolution principles. Genetic programming is used in particular. Special attention is devoted to fitness functon definition, on which the progress of strategies depends. Besides usual criterion - profit, other aspects are taken into account. Transactional costs are included in strategy evaluation. Costs have even been increased in comparison with declared values. Some of the best strategies are tested on data, which has not been used for their development. Obtained results did not support the hypothesis. However, process of a strategy search can be improved.
The use of technical analysis in currency markets
Kašpar, Petr ; Taušer, Josef (advisor) ; Žamberský, Pavel (referee)
This thesis focuses on description of methods of technical analysis, characteristics of foreign exchange markets and it also mentions the efficient market theory. The aim is to use the knowledge of technical analysis to select one simple trading strategy and through its optimalization to discover a functional and efficient trading system. In order to enable followers to continue in optimalization, it is also described the optimalization process in detail with probable obstacles. There are also mentioned other different and possible ways for further testing of this strategy.

Optimalization of packaging management in Škoda Auto
Matějovská, Jana ; Slavík, Jan (advisor) ; Tymichová, Marie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the transport packages in Škoda Auto Inc. and generally with questions of package and waste management. The aim of this work is to analyze the transport packages in corporation Škoda Auto and on the basis of this analysis specify, if the optimization of package management is possible and at the same time suggest recommendation to realization of this optimization. The first part of thesis is focused on basic term, legislation and definition of possibilities of firms in environmental protection. Second part is the case study in Škoda Auto Inc., which deals with the relations between corporation and environment, analysis of the transport packages and their optimization. Recommendations for internal changes in corporation are formulated in this part too. In conclusion you can find the resolution, if the optimization is possible and how could be achieved.
Organizational structure as a factor in business efficiency
Kněžický, Miroslav ; Cimler, Petr (advisor) ; Filipová, Vladimíra (referee)
The theme of this thesis is the "Organizational Structure as a factor in business efficiency". The work consists of two main parts - theoretical one and practical one. The purpose of the theoretical part is to sort theoretical knowledge about organizational structures. This information is used as the basis for the practical part, in which the goal is to create own proposals aimed at optimization of the organizational structure of the particular company in order to increase the overall company efficiency. Besides proposals for improving the organizational structure, a practical part includes some basic information about the company, such as the line of business or history.
Callcentrum System Management in a chosen Firm
Guzi, Jan ; Černý, Jan (advisor) ; Novák, Michal (referee)
This thesis deals with operational management of an inbound call center and planning necessary work capacities. Company BEZREKLAMKY Ltd. established its own inbound call center, as a reaction to the dissatisfaction with the services of an external service provider and it is necessary to properly optimize operational capacities and human resources necessary to serve 5 to 7 thousand customer callers per month. Practical part of the thesis - planning of the workforce capacity, scheduling the shifts and planning the opening hours of the inbound call center - works with a rather extensive theoretical platform, which brings new views of operations management inbound call centre and also works with the internal and external surveys related to the functionality of newly established inbound call centre. Conclusions made on the basis of the theoretical part were applied directly to the planning and operational management of the inbound customer call centre. This thesis helped applied over 25 conclusions for the studied inbound call centers. The goals, which the company set out to fulfill, while planning the new department, are then partly validated via models of system dynamics and in the last section of the thesis reflects on the extent to which these goals are feasible.
