Residential units from natural materials

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the costs of building a family house log cabin compared to the wooden building. The first part focuses on natural building materials. Their characteristics, applications and comparison with industrially produced building materials. The second part firstly describes various structures of selected family houses, wooden houses and log cabin in brief. Subsequently, the structure budgets are assembled, compared and evaluated their costs. The budget is based on a bill of quantities wooden houses insulated by straw bales. Finally the positive and negative characteristics of these houses are listed.

The theoretical part of the thesis describes the use, working process and application of natural materials in family house construction, as well as their impact on the health aspects of building users. The thesis defines the environmental footprint of each particular material. The practical part of the thesis is primary focused on the building design which combines different structural systems from solid wood. The visual concept of the construction in particular was designed with the emphasis and respect to the surrounding countryside which belongs to Protected Landscape Area and is liable to special requirements. Requirements for permanent residence under the applicable legislation in the Czech Republic were respected with a maximum effort to use natural materials in the construction itself.

In this thesis is carried out a research about sustainable development and construction. Based on Czech and foreign literature is compiled a detailed process describing the conditions for a successful design of buildings according to sustainable principles. The final outcome is a design of a house, which is executed by the above procedure which tries to incorporate all the given requirements.
Effect of change of toys in playing of pre-school children

The purpose of this thesis is to describe the influence of change of the common type of toys to natural materials on playing of groups of the three- and four-year-old children. Last but not least, the real necessity of toys for this group is also highlighted in this work. The theoretical part contains the definition and historical development of the playing and toys of pre-school children and the current knowledge about influence of toys upon childrens` playing. Practical experiment was based on replacement of man-made, common toys, with natural material ones for two weeks. The task of this thesis was to monitor reaction of children to the change - their cooperation, creativity and aggression. Observation of this experiment has eventually proved the positive effect of natural materials in all monitored areas.
The use of natural materials for the creative activities of children at the nursery school

The aim of this thesis is to point out the essentiality of the use of natural materials for creative activities and playing at the nursery school. Using natural materials is the easiest way for children to make empirical knowledge of the resources and the environment they live in, which creates and enforces a positive relationship towards the living environment, the understanding of the connections within and the importace of its protection. This thesis contains several suggestions how to make use of natural materials suitable for children at nursery schools and describes the practical realization of some of these projects as well as its preparation and subsequent evaluation.
Using Nature Material in Work with Children at Nursery

The bachelor work deals with using nature material in children ´s work at nursery. It is composed of three parts. Theoretical part, practical part and part of supplements. In theoretical part I use informations from work with specialized literature and I try to explain few basic concepts from sphere of ecology and creativity in relation with pre-school education. Thereinafter are to every season (spring, summer, autumn, winter) described nature materials with these it is possible to work in specific time with help of offered activities. This way I would like to produce ideas for playing activities, inspiration and description for making products that are able to use at nursery in specific age-group of children. In practical part I draw from my experience from practice and I use methodical guidelines based on a game, experience, manipulation, experiment, creativity, fantasy and problem-solving. I have proved the offer of activities by the practice at nursery. The last part is dedicated to supplements and photographs.
