Affecting parameters of respiratory gas exchange by use of incentive spirometers
Senohrábková, Eva ; Matouš, Miloš (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
introduction: The theoretical part of the thesis briefly analyzes the anatomical, kinesiological and physiological aspects of breathing, pursues the issue of examinations of lung functions and also includes a chapter which applies to incentive spirometers. The experimental part of the work examines the impact of three-week training with trainer Coach2 on parameters of respiratory gas exchange at rest and during the exercise in healthy subjects. methods: Both output and control tests included spirometry and spiroergometry examination. The experimental group consisted of 10 subjects, control group consisted of 9 subjects. results: Our results show a significant influence especially on an increase in FVC, decreased respiratory rate at submaximal intensities of exercise and increased breathing rate at maximum load and also an increase in tidal volume at all load levels. Minute ventilation at maximum load increased by an average of 15.17 liters. The control group did not show any improvement. conclusion: It appears that training with trainer Coach2 might be effective in influencing certain ventilatory parameters at rest as well as during the exercise.
Comparison of selected fitness assumptions for teams various kinds of sports
MÍŠEK, Petr
The thesis deals with the comparison of the fitness predispositions and body composition in various kinds of sports teams. The aim of the thesis was to determine the differences between the fitness predispositions and body composition among ice-hockey players, cyclists and track-and-field athletes with comparable levels of performance from South Bohemia aged 15-18. As the main tests we used spiroergometric VO2max tests, the Wingate test on a bicycle ergometer and the analysis of body composition on the Tanita BC 418 MA device. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the transport mechanism of the organism and the factors that affect performance in those given sports. The practical part describes the tested teams, the used testing devices and the research process. Next, we analyze the obtained values and compare them against each other. All values were obtained using the load-test laboratory at the University of South Bohemia in the Department of Physical Education and Sport in České Budějovice. There are slight differences between the individual teams in each of the three tested aspects that are characteristic for the given sports.

This thesis is focused on the pulmonary function tests. The first part focuses on basic respiratory data, ventilation diseases and parameters of evaluation. The second part describes diagnostic methods in detail. These methods are used to obtain functional parameters of lung function, especially spirometry. The third part focuses on NI DAQ, spirometer´s probe, spirometer SPIROBANK, DT and spirometry data analysis software developed in LabVIEW 2013. The fourth part deals with comparison of results from my own spirometry data analysis software, spirometric probe and SPIROBANK DT.
Comparison of spirometric instruments' precision
Chmelíková, Lucie ; Janoušek, Oto (referee) ; Slávik, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis deals with pulmonary testing with emphasis to spirometry. In the first part is introduced and described pulmonary system and its attributes. There is a clear and complete list of pulmonary characteristics and parameters. It contains integrated summary of principles that are used for pulmonary measurement devices. First part is followed by description of created virtual device using LabVIEW programming. Simple meter of lung volumes can easily create spirometric curve and automatically evaluate desired values of volume. Program is further enhanced with optional archiving of measured spirometric curve. The last part of this thesis uses statistic testing for deciding of validity or invalidity of hypothesis. By statistic testing of hypothesis we are gaining and expanding basic knowledge about spirometric devices.
Spirometric measurements
Vecheta, Miroslav ; Janoušek, Oto (referee) ; Slávik, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis deals with a method of Pulmonary Function Test called Spirometry and it consist of two main parts. The first part is important for introduction to lungs physiology, pathophysiology and their anatomy and for basic methods of lung function testing. The second part continues with implementation of a spirometer within graphical enviroment of LabView. This spirometer is able to show a spirometric curve and to analyse and calculate particular parameters. The final data can be saved in a text file. Also there are instructions to use the spirometer in a laboratory task.

This bachelor thesis deals with a detailed description of functional examination of lungs. Predominant part of this thesis is focused on spirometry method and evaluation with spirometry curve. It also deals with study of Vernier LabPro, properties of spirometry probe Vernier and proposal of the structure of software in LabVIEW environment, which will serve for basic spirometry examination. The second part is devoted to the design of the program in LabVIEW, description of its features and capabilities and its actual runtime. The program is further enhanced with a feature that allows the processing, evaluation and archiving of measured spirometric curves. The program also includes a temperature compensation of breath in and breath out air.
Spirometry in LabVIEW
Pernicová, Lenka ; Dřínovský, Jiří (referee) ; Harabiš, Vratislav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with a method of Pulmonary Function Tests called Spirometry. It consists of two parts. The first part introduces individual methods of lung function testing and examines characteristics that describe work of lungs regarding a spirometric curve. The second part based on the characteristics examined in the previous part is focused on implementation of a spirometer within the graphical environment of LabView. The implemented virtual tool is able to show a spirometric curve and to analyse particular characteristics. The corresponding signal and even the analysed characteristics can be saved in a given format into appropriate files.
Thermal comfort and its estimation
Žáková, Monika ; Vondra, Vlastimil (referee) ; Nováková, Zuzana (advisor)
This paper summarizes the problems of human thermoregulation and its measurement, with a focus on the method of indirect calorimetry in resting conditions at different ambient temperatures and during physical activity. It also introduces the issue of human thermal comfort and the methodology of its monitoring using thermal manikin. It describes PowerCube Ergo (Ganshorn, Germany) and Cardiovit AT-104 (Schiller, Switzerland), the diagnostic devices used to spiro-ergometry measurements. It introduces the options to export data. The work proposes the protocol for measuring the thermoregulation of the small group of volunteers, which is realized by the practical part. According to the same protocol is monitored thermal comfort of the thermal manikin. In MATLAB is created the application, allowing clear analysis of measurement records. The data are evaluated and discussed.
Spirometry
Vyškovský, Daniel ; Slávik, Vladimír (referee) ; Janoušek, Oto (advisor)
This work presents spirometric measurements on a group of volunteers. First of all the physiology of respiration is explained. Further the theory necessary for measurement and analysis of respiration parameters is mentioned. A separate chapter contains information about ventilation disorders with focus on obstructive diseases. The measurement methodology is described in the analysis section. The program developed for automatic spirometric signal analysis is described in the next section. Parameters obtained from the program are statistically analysed and compared for physiological and obstructive state. Changes, which the individual parameters represent in relation to the simulated obstruction, are discussed. The appendix section contains a report to be used for laboratory lessons together with the developed program.
Breath monitoring during motion therapy
Koťová, Markéta ; Bubník, Karel (referee) ; Kolářová, Jana (advisor)
This semestral thesis deals with continuous monitoring of pulmonary ventilation during the patients' theraphy and focuses especially on monitoring of their ventilation processes. It is necessarry to detect, monitor and differentiate abdominal and thoracic breathing during the theraphy. This thesis describes the very basic and common method, a spirometry. Next, an overview of more advanced state-of-the-art methods based on both, tactile and proximity principles is given. In addition to that, two recently developed methods by BUT are discussed as well -- a tactile-based measurement similar to blood pressure sensor and a proximity-based measurement method employing TOF cameras. The data acquired by these two methods are proccesed and examined in order to evaluate and justify their performance in a real application.
