German-Chinese economic diplomacy: the strategic interests of the FRG

Economic diplomacy is an indispensable tool in promoting the interests of the state abroad. It is highly desirable in relations between such giants of the geopolitical scene as Germany and China. Thesis introduces into the role of economic diplomacy in German foreign policy, its actors and tools. After exposure in the development of German - Chinese relations, a list of main areas of cooperation follows. The focus of work is the first intergovernmental consultation between Germany and China in 2011 and their political and business results. They are demonstrated on selected projects in the automotive industry. The last part analyzes the strategic interests that Germany seeks to achieve in cooperation with China.
China's Economic Diplomacy in Latin America

The main goal of this paper is to summarize the diverse and often controversial information in order to identify and describe the specific features of Chinese economic activities and approaches related to Latin America. The secondary objective is to analyze whether China's involvement in Latin American region is mutually beneficial, or whether the cooperation with the PRC threatens the future development of the region.
French economic diplomacy and its comparison with the Czech Republic

This thesis presents a comparison of the economic diplomacy of the Czech Republic and France in order to improve the situation in the Czech Republic based on the French model. Providing the theoretical definitions of economic diplomacy, the thesis proposes solutions to improve the functioning of economic diplomacy in the Czech Republic. The first part deals with the definition of economic diplomacy, its main actors and organizational models. The second part analyzes the Czech economic diplomacy, particularly focusing on export and investment. The third part describes the same indicators as the second, but those of French economic diplomacy. The last section provides an analysis of the economic diplomacy of both countries.
Economic expansion of China to Africa

The goal of the thesis is to characterize specific features of China's foreign policy towards African continent and to analyze whether China is capable of contributing to long-term sustainable development in the poorest region of the world. The first chapter is focused on the theory of economic diplomacy and decribes its main functions, tools and actors. Following part represents a brief overview of the history of sino-african relations, with the aim to define the main motives for mutual cooperation. The characteristic of economic relations between China and Africa follows, with the focus on trade, foreign direct investment and development assistance. Conluding part deals with the identification and evaluation of main benefits and threats of the growing presence of China in Africa with respect to the long-term sustainable development in the region.
Economic Diplomacy as a Tool in Bilateral Relations - a Case Study of Taiwan

Due to the special international status of Taiwan the area of economic cooperation represents one of the most important components of the country's foreign policy. Economic diplomacy is one of the major tools to promote the economic interests of a state in international relations. First, the paper discusses the theoretical definition of economic diplomacy and the changes in approach to foreign relations in Taiwan. Further, it characterizes the institutional system of Taiwan's economic diplomacy. Based on the comparison of Taiwan's bilateral relations with a diplomatic ally and with a country without diplomatic relations, it is examined whether the form or the content of mutual relations is more important in order to achieve the economic diplomacy's objectives.
Selected problems of export policy of the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the current state of export policy of the Czech Republic and its security in the institutional framework. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first chapter deals with the institutional solution to support exports and the particular forms of export promotion. This chapter also deals with development, characteristics and products offered by various institutions of the state aid. The second part is dedicated to the problems of export policy and the readiness of the Czech Republic Czech exporters to profit from the existing system of export promotion. The attention is paid to issues related to the global financial crisis. This is the problem of declining sales in EU markets, Export Strategy, and finally ineffective economic diplomacy of the Czech Republic.
The Economic Diplomacy in Relations between the Czech Republic and Mexico

The role of the economic diplomacy is very important for the Czech Republic. Because of the small extent of the Czech Republic and strong international competition it is necessary to have a well prepared presentation strategy of the Czech products, Czech industry and the country in itself. The Czech exporters are mostly oriented towards the European countries, since the business negotiation and communication is easier and more comprehensible than with other non-European countries. Czech exporters, in order to export to Mexico, need to overcome the language barrier and get used to specialities in Mexican negotiating. Few authorities of the Czech economic diplomacy are assisting while undergoing these procedures. CzechTrade, Czech Embassy in Mexico and above all its business-economic section help to arrange contacts and give advice concerning the administrative steps right in Mexico. Czech exporters have more possibilities how to show the interest in cooperation with Mexico, e. g. participating the business mission, fairs or exhibitions. Entry of the Czech Republic into the European Union had a positive effect on the rate of bilateral trade, which proves the trade balance. Although some Czech firms are prospering in Mexico, the market potential of Mexico is not utilized entirely.
Some aspects of economic diplomacy on the example of Czech Republic and New Zealand

The paper analyses relations between economic diplomacy and foreign development assistance. The ground of the analysis constitutes theoretical and practical concept of foreign development aid provided by the Czech republic and New Zealand set into the scope of economic diplomacy. The approaches of indicated countries are compared in aspect of total volume, territorial and issue allocation and the potential to utilize foreign development aid as a tool of economic diplomacy is assessed.
The system view on economic diplomacy in the Czech Republic

The target of this thesis is analysis of the economic diplomacy system used in the Czech Republic. First theoretic part focus on the term economic diplomacy in general, its definition, main participants, and different ways to organize it. In the second part the system used in the Czech Republic is analyzed, including the legislative frame, organizational structure and various institutions involved in control and support of economic diplomacy in Czech Republic. The goal of the third part is to review this system, point out the main problems and evaluate corrective measures taken.
Systematic view on the economic diplomacy - Slovak Republic

With the evolution of contemporary international environment within globalisation and with the liberalisation of international trade the economic dimension of diplomacy intesifies. In order to react to the evolvement od economic priproties in international relations the economic diplomacy tends to come forth. The thesis is concerned with the system of economic diplomacy in the Slovak Republic. For the objective reasons the economic priorities play an important role in Slovak foreign policy. Moreover their significance is futher growing considering the current situation in the world economy. The thesis primarily aims at the institutional aspects of the Slovak economic diplomacy with the emphasis on the characteristics of invidual actors and their position within the system. The final part of the thesis is focused on the current issues of the Slovak economic diplomacy and its further opportunities are considered.
