Fosil Fuels in Czech Repiblic
Němec, Radim ; Moskalík, Jiří (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on creating an overview of fossil fuels, as well as their distribution, emergence, properties and uses. In the thesis is also mapped out mining, import and export of fossil fuels in the Czech Republic.
Possibilities of Heating of Family House
Řezníček, Jan ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
With the growing interest in cost saving and environmental protection we are trying to take advantage of new trends in building insulation and heating. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to present the issues and options for heating these buildings using new technologies and methods, to describe the design of individual boilers, their properties and uses depending on the type of fuel, and to assess the economic performance of selected heating options for a particular building.
Future energy sources
Hatiar, Peter ; Moskalík, Jiří (referee) ; Škvařil, Jan (advisor)
This work deals with the issue of energy resources. It deals with the energy challenges for the coming decade, it briefly describes the various energy resources and assesses their potential. Given the scale of that issue, the work is focused on the use of energy resources, especially for electricity production.
The Energy dependency of world´s economic centers
Štesková, Beáta ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Bič, Josef (referee)
This master's thesis aims to assess energy dependency on primary energy sources of the three main economic actors in the contemporary world scene that includes the European Union, the United States and China. Energy geopolitics gets a new face nowadays, turns upside down and the centers of world economy must face all these changes. Disparity in availability of energy sources and consumption, new drilling and manufacturing technologies, methods of extractions, new players and adopted energy policies as well as limited domestic supplies have a significant impact on the structure of the energy mix and energy (un)self-sufficiency. In the first part, the author deals with engineering and deployment of observed energy sources as well as the definition of energy dependency respectively energy security. In the next chapters, the author focuses especially on three economic centers while analyzing the nature, characteristics and trend of their production and consumption of energy as well as energy raw materials flow to these countries respectively to integrations. At the end, the author obtains by these analyses an image of energy dependency or vulnerability of these economies.
The world economic centers energy dependence
Bognárová, Eliška ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Vondrušková, Barbora (referee)
Today's world needs increasing amounts of energy for satisfaction of all human needs and wants. The fundamental problem is enormous disproportion among the areas with the largest energy consumption and places with the greatest energy reserves. This thesis set out to analyze the economic vulnerability of the biggest players in the world in terms of energy self-(in)sufficiency. The main focus of this thesis is to evaluate the status and future potential on the issue of fossil fuels, especially oil, natural gas and coal in the three world centers, the U.S., the EU and China. The thesis contains information about the alternative "clean" energy sources as well. Future energy development in these countries will affect their position in the world economy and mutual relations and also impact the current balance of power of these players.
Thin Film Composite Membrane for Effective Raw Biogas Upgrading to Pipeline Quality Methane
Kárászová, Magda ; Vejražka, Jiří ; Veselý, Václav ; Friess, K. ; Randová, A. ; Jansen, J. C. ; Izák, Pavel
In this contribution we propose a method to upgrade biogas to the same quality of fuel standard natural gas. The latter contains more than 95 vol. % of methane. Using traditional membranes, such concentration of methane in the retentate could only be achieved using a multistep process. A recently proposed method for raw biogas purification from impurities and carbon dioxide by condensing water on swollen thin film composite membranes was found to be highly effective. The hydrophilic reverse osmosis membrane promotes the formation of a very thin selective water layer under condensing conditions below the dew point of the raw biogas feed. The large difference in permeability of the impurities in raw biogas (carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide) and methane through the water layer enables upgrading of raw biogas to biomethane quality in a single stage. Contrary to the classical purification processes, the proposed method does not require any biogas pretreatment, which makes this approach economically attractive. It represents an innovative approach to production of biomethane from biogas.

Peak oil and its impact on global economy
Hričková, Michaela ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Jeníček, Vladimír (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on world oil supply and aims to distinguish symptoms undoubtedly pointing to a possibly upcoming era of altered consumption and extraction patterns of oil products, which will be launched by "peak oil" -- a point when oil production reaches its maximum continues to decline. The thesis' objective is to analyse the probability of peak oil occurring and possible implications for world economy and selected countries. If proven true, it provides a an answer to the question whether the world economy can survive peaking without repercussions or whether it will shrink and decline into crisis. The first part defines the supply of oil and -- it's an overview of conventional and unconventional types of oil, petroleum products, oil fields, extraction techniques, energy effectiveness and substitutes. Furthermore, it defines "peak oil", it clarifies its history, strives to determine its possible date and compares it with the current oil situation. The second part surveys general implications of peak oil for world economics and politics -- it observes an unsatisfied oil demand, impact on the outputs of economies and the role of oil in economic crises. The political part follows with possible changes in the field of international politics. Lastly it tries to determine the effect on American suburbia. The third and final part is dedicated to selected countries, which are either important exporters or importers.
Power Engineering in the EU and Development Prospects
Kučerová, Monika ; Kašpar, Václav (advisor) ; Vošta, Milan (referee)
This thesis deals with power engineering in the EU and aims to analyze energy resources and their characteristics, assess the current situation in the energy sector in the EU as a whole and in selected member states and outline possible future developments. The thesis studies problems that the EU must face in the field of power engineering too. The aim is also to point out new possibilities in power engineering, which are possible thanks to the progress in science and research.
Renewable sources of energy and fossil fuels - the stage of coexistence
Buchtele, Jaroslav
Production of energy, heat and chemicals can be secured by co-processing of organic wastes and biomass with coal. Co-processing remove landfilling of wastes.
The Role of the Liquefied Natural Gas in the World Economy
Hričková, Michaela ; Kašpar, Václav (advisor) ; Vošta, Milan (referee)
The Bachelor thesis' focus is on the role and importance of the liquefied natural gas as a tradable commodity and a way of transporting natural gas. The first part of the thesis contains an analysis of the current state of the world natural gas market including factors influencing said market and the pattern of localisation of natural gas fields in the world. The second part deals with the specific features of LNG and its production and transportation issues. The last part analyses the position of LNG in the world energy mix and the localisation of exporting and importing LNG facilities around the world.
