Asian crisis: reasons, consequences and comparison with the World economic crisis 2008
Nechaeva, Svetlana ; Witzany, Jiří (advisor) ; Witzany, Jiří (referee)
Asian crisis 1997-1998 has become global after financial incidents in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Asian mini-crises were followed by currencies depreciation, which were pegged to USD, also by decrease of prices of real estate, outflow of foreign financial resources and drop of share prices. Crisis expanded to HongKong and South Korea. In Autumn 1997 signs of crisis arised in Europe, Japan and USA. Less dramatic drop was on Russian, Kazakh, Ukrainian and Singapore markets. By comparing of Asian crisis 1997-98 with World economic crisis 2008 we will be able to see common features and differences. Considering mistakes made during Asian crisis, we will be able to derive possible developments of the World economic slowdown started in 2008.

Rate of suicide analysis in Czech Republic
Krejčíková, Jana ; Arltová, Markéta (advisor) ; Bedrnová, Eva (referee)
Suicidiality is still commonplace in modern time and very disputable topic in global world. Rate of suicide become one of mental and physic health index of society. It is possible to take some arrangements to restrict this phenomenon. This arrangement can be make on the basis of analysis of suicidiality trends and its partial factors in Czech Republic and base on estimation of future trends. This thesis is focuses on fixing tendencies in this trend and on estimation of future trends by means of Box-Jenkins methodology. Main effort is in identification possible factors which affect suicidiality and make out this feedback good.

Czech Republic after the admission to European Union - Macroeconomic comparison
Horáček, Michal ; Nečadová, Marta (advisor) ; Breňová, Lubomíra (referee)
This written work deals with macroeconomic development of the Czech Republic after joining European Union in 2004. It focuses mainly on development of gross domestic product and its components and comparison with Visegrad group and European Union, especially with states entering in 2004. Next part of the work is an analysis of The Global Competitiveness Report released by World Economic Forum which compares economic competitiveness of states all over the world.

The Globalization of the World Economy

How Bank Competition Influences Financial Stability
Vildová, Romana ; Horváth, Roman (advisor) ; Teplý, Petr (referee)
How Bank Competition Influences Financial Stability Abstract This paper investigates the link between financial stability and bank competition by means of the Arellano & Bond (1991) GMM model using annual panel data over the period 2000 - 2014 for 205 countries. Our data source is a new, richer and updated dataset The Global Financial Development Database available at World Bank. Due to the specifics of this dataset we are able to use new combinations of measures of financial stability and of bank competition and to study their relationship in greater depth. We find a positive link between financial stability and bank competition. Furthermore, our results provide evidence that it matters what measures of financial stability and bank competition we apply. Lastly, we ascertain that the relationship between financial stability and bank competition does not change over time. Impact of Multinational Corporations on Competitiveness of National Economies
Boháčková, Michaela ; Filipová, Alena (advisor) ; Zeman, Jiří (referee)
Decreasing importance of national economies as subjects of international trade and increasing importance of multinational corporations as the most important actor of international business activities is a characteristic trend in the world economy since the end of the 20th century. The thesis describes actual status of national economies and multinational corporations in the global economic system and its role in international trade; defines possibilities of growth in competitiveness of national economies and analises an extent to which multinational corporations can participate on this growth or be its source.

Divergent organohalide-respiring consortia in PCB-contaminated sediments
Mikešová, Martina
This study is focused on one particular group of the halogenated molecules called polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) - synthetic, organic compounds derived from biphenyl with bound chlorine atoms. Depending on the position and number of the chlorine atoms, there are theoretically 209 individual PCB congeners. Although PCBs production was brought to a halt thirty years ago, recalcitrance to degradation makes them a major environmental pollutant at a global scale. Large amounts of PCBs were produced in several countries, and former Czechoslovakia belonged to the ten major world producers. Despite the PCB congener resistance to chemical modification, bacterial process of reductive dechlorination, named organohalide respiration (OHR), was shown to be efficient in the dechlorination of extensively chlorinated PCB congeners and a prerequisite step towards their subsequent complete mineralization by aerobic bacteria. In our study, reductive dechlorination of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) was assessed using long term anaerobic microcosms. The microcosms were inoculated with highly contaminated with weathered Delor sediments, sampled from the efflux channel of the former PCB manufacturer Chemko Strazske. After one year of cultivation the chemical analysis showed a degradation of up to 36 % of the highly...

Harmonizace Účetní Úpravy Pozemků, Budov, Zařízení a Nehmotných Aktiv
Babinec, Matúš ; Krupová, Lenka (advisor) ; Mejzlík, Ladislav (referee)
The globalization of world economy has inevitably affected also the movements in harmonization process of accounting standards around the world. International Financial Reporting Standards have become the ultimate accounting and reporting tool of most developed countries. The only remaining counterpart -- the US GAAP, is slowly subsiding to the enormous spread momentum that IFRS gained in recent years. In this setting I examine the application of International standards on accounting treatment of Property, Plant and Equipment, and also the Intangible Assets. Subsequently I compare this treatment to US GAAP and document all major differences still persistent at the end of year 2008. Considering that there are still many divergences between the two sets of standards, I try to document their impact on the reporting and presentation of financial statements of several blue chip companies. My analysis suggests that differences in reported numbers depending on standards chosen can distort comparability of financial statements and performance assessment, thus potentially biasing the decision making process of involved stakeholders.

The topic of this diploma thesis is constantly expanding segment of tourism, known as youth tourism. This diploma thesis describes and examines possibilities of a new form of tourism, a type of tourism aimed at young travellers and which developed along with globalization. The aim of the thesis is to explore this new emerging segment, including its specifications that relate to the development of current society. In the second part there is the evaluation of the questionnaire survey as supportive instrument for validation of described segment and comparison to young travellers from the Czech Republic. The conclusion offers suggestions for service providers focused on target segment.
