A comparative view of Czech and English prepositions signifying place and time
VACHOVÁ, Martina
This thesis explores the meaning and distribution of spatiotemporal preposition in English in comparison with the Czech prepositions of the same kind. The main part of this work focuses on the usage of the preposition at that, next to on and in, is used to express both temporal and spatial ideas (e.g., at the corner, at 7:30). Investigating the meanings associated with the spatiotemporal particle at used in the gathered material may bring fundamental insights into the relation between language, mental representation and human experience. The thesis aims to identify as large amount of sequences as possible with prepositional function of at, as both languages use different ways of interpreting the usage of the preposition. Whether the English and Czech spatial and temporal usage of the at-phrase is distinct from one another in meaning and distribution; it will be discussed at greater length in the presented collection of examples.

The role of the EU budget in the context of the ongoing reforms
Fialková, Veronika ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Pluskalová, Eva (referee)
The diploma thesis The role of the EU budget in the context of the ongoing reforms assesses the functioning of the EU budget and considers the question of what changes should bring the ongoing budgetary reform. The thesis analyses the problems of functioning of the existing budget, both on the expenditure and revenue side, and also within the budgetary procedures. The main problem is seen in the discrepancy between the structure of the expenditure and the priorities of the EU. Among other problems are listed the fragmentation of expenditure to a large number of goals, unsuitable character of revenue resources, insufficient flexibility and inadequate setting of some of the decision processes linked to the budget. The thesis focuses on the budgetary reform and debates its possible outcomes, which will shape the financial perspective for the period after 2013. The thesis examines different reform options from a complex point of view. It considers the reform proposals from the European Commission, independent academics, research centers and think tanks, and also from the point of view of the Member States' governments. The thesis assesses these proposals in the context of the EU's present priorities, to which belong above all the goals set in the Europe 2020 strategy, and in the context of the effectiveness of public spending in a multilevel government structure. The thesis concludes that the reform should transform the budget into a flexible instrument for achieving EU's priorities financed from autonomous EU revenue resources.

State budget deficit of the Slovak Republic and its financing
Mesežnikov, Roman ; Radová, Jarmila (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the state budget deficit of the Slovak Republic and its financing. The first part analyzes the deficit of the state budget in general terms -- what it is, how it is originating, what types of deficit exist, how it can be covered. We find out that in principle the five possible ways are leading to the deficit, and there are just five possible ways how it can be "addressed". The next part analyzes the development of public debt and the state budget deficit in the Slovak Republic since its establishment and looks how it was covered. We find out that the budget deficit was largely covered by issuing governmental securities, therefore in the final part of this bachelor thesis we deal with treasury bills and governmental bonds. We mention the importance of State Treasury and the Agency for Management of Debt and Liquidity( ARDAL), the rules of the primary market with governmental securities and, in the end, we analyze development of their issuance.

Tradicional Chinese medicine and current nursing
ROLANTOVÁ, Lucie
Traditional Chinese medicine is one of the oldest curative methods in the world. It is focused particularly on the support of a body to recover balance and harmony that have become impaired. Owing to the growing number of the Chinese and the Vietnamese minorities in the Czech Republic, the medical staff providing healthcare may meet members of these minorities for whom this medicine may be of a large importance both when being ill and when being healthy. The new conception of the Czech nursing is outlined to provide every individual, regardless of the race, with the care which is able to satisfy their bio-psycho-social-religious needs. The nursing staff must possess a basic knowledge of the traditional Chinese medicine so that they are able to satisfy the needs of these patients/clients better. The objective of this diploma work is to ascertain what health problems are treated by members of the Chinese and the Vietnamese minorities through the traditional Chinese medicine, and what curative methods are used most frequently by them. The empirical part was processed in the form of a qualitative research. The data collection technique was a semi-structured interview of selected informants of the Chinese and the Vietnamese nationalities living in the Czech Republic. Based on the interviews of individual minorities, case studies were established and used as the research base for elaboration of categorization tables and charts presenting the most important results of the research. The main results of the research include the ascertained heath problems which are treated by means of the Chinese medicine by members of both minorities, and the ascertainment what curative methods are used most frequently, and whether the members of both minorities wish to make use of the medicine also during hospitalization. Based on the results of the research, the information material was elaborated that may be of use for the nursing staff in healthcare facilities and for other specialized public as a brief summary of methods of the Chinese medicine and of their application by the members of the Chinese and the Vietnamese minorities.

Broadcast Policy in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia: Power Structures, Programming, Collaboration and Resistance at Czech Radio 1939 to 1945
Pinard, Peter Richard ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee) ; Kutsch, Arnulf (referee)
What radio policy did the Nazi authorities implement in the so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia? What were the possibilities of collaboration or, conversely, of Czech resistance within Czech Radio. What impact did the situation have on programming and on mutual relations between Czechs and Germans within this institution? Based largely on archival sources and an analysis of radio program schedules, this study seeks to answer those questions. The author pays special attention to political, anti-Semitic, Worker's Radio and political satire programming. The main findings of the study are that the occupation authorities implemented a range of policies starting with passive censorship of Czech-made programming and increasing over time to active production of German-inspired programs. Initially, an unqualified bureaucrat named Lothar Scurla led the occupation team supported by Sudeten-German Czech Radio staff. Czech staff reacted successfully to this manipulation with passive resistance. After taking charge in Prague, Reinhard Heydrich removed Scurla and more qualified German radio professionals took control under the leadership of the SS-Obersturmführer Ferdinand Thürmer. The new team gradually increased the quantity of factual programming while decreasing overtly political program content at...

Recruitment methods
Květoňová, Markéta ; Kocianová, Renata (advisor) ; Háša, Stanislav (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with recruitment which is a part of human resource management and has an impact on quality of workers in an organization. The thesis focuses on three main areas, namely the recruitment process, methods of external recruitment and personnel marketing. Each area is theoretically introduced by summarizing findings in literature and research articles and in addition to the theoretical framework results of my qualitative survey dealing with the recruitment in seven large organizations are presented for comparison. Emphasis is put on the question of importance of the internet as a recruitment method particularly on career websites, job boards and social networks, which are mostly a neglected topic in literature. Further attention is paid to personnel marketing tools and its target groups.

Table of types of the basic technical data and field threshing-machine producers.
VOKOUN, Josef
In Czech agriculture, threshing-machines of many producers are being used, these often differ in construction of basic functional units or optional features. The principal aim of this job is to gather the production schedule of each producer and make it well-arranged so as the agriculturist could responsibely consider which type and size and which equipment would be optimal for him. The threshing-machine purchase is a large investment for the farming business and the wrong choice would have fairly big consequences on the business economics.

Improving efficiency of HEP applications
Horký, Jiří ; Zavoral, Filip (advisor) ; Falt, Zbyněk (referee)
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) located at CERN, Geneva has finally been put in production, generating unprecedented amount of data. These data are distributed across many computing centers all over the world that form the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). One of the main issues since the beginning of the WLCG project is an effective file access on the site level in order to fully exploit huge computing farms. The aim of this thesis is to explore existing data distribution work flows, standards, methods and protocols. An integral part of the work is the analysis of jobs of physicists to understand input/output workloads and to discover possible inefficiencies. Then, new upcoming solutions are evaluated in terms of performance, sustainability and integration into existing frameworks. It is expected that these solutions will be based on distributed file systems such as NFS 4.1, Lustre and HDFS.
