European Union as a factor of the advancement of gender equality in the Czech Republic
Jachanová Doleželová, Alexandra ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Kotábová, Věra (referee)
The membership in the European Union (EU) has brought many advantages to Czech citizens. The equality between men and women is an important part of the EU ideology. However, gender equality is a new concept in the Czech Republic, and would be hardly that far, if the Czech Republic did not go throw the EU accession process. European Union is the most important factor in achieving gender equality in the Czech Republic. Membership in the European Union is a positive step toward gender equality; however, the Czech Republic is still lagged behind in the issue. in my final thesis, I will analyze the situation in regard to gender equality in the Czech Republic. I will focus on the progress related to the accession process, explaining who were the main actors influencing the development. I will bring in the recent situation, introducing the institutions related to advancement of gender equality and what are their deserts. It will be very worth mentioning what are the actual facts in the representation of women in the political and social life, and what is their role on the labour market, because it can later on leads us to some conclusions. The relation of conversion as a system relation
Kováčová, Kateřina ; Chlupáčová, Kamila (advisor) ; Giger, Markus (referee) ; Panevová, Jarmila (referee)
The relation of conversion is a semantic relation between lexemes ( or between other typ es of language expressions) that is assessed- as far as its appurtenance to the system oflanguage is concemed - in various theories of language in a different way. Informally, these expressions are usually considered to be in the relation of conversion which "denote the same situation always from a different perspective", such as e.g. the verbs dát - dostat, prodat - koupit, půjčit- půjčit si, vyhrát- prohrát or the nouns vítězství- porážka. In this thesis, the relation of conversion is regarded as a type of a semantic relation that is inherent in the language system and therefore it should be included in the whole theoretical description of language. The author tries to support this standpoint that issues from a more or less intuitive observation of the properties of lexemes in the conversion relation and from their comparison with other lexemes by a consequent description of the nature of the semantic relation of conversion within the formally constructed theory of the Functional Generative Description of Language (FGD). This task is necessarily associated with specific modifications (extensions) of the terrninological framework of FGD because in the theory of FGD the field of lexical semantics has not yet been...

Changes of topics and their adaptation in the magazine Lidé a země in the years 1970, 1990 and 2015
Kargerová, Diana ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
The work focuses on changes of topics and their adaptations in the travel magazine Lidé a Země in three periods of Czech history. Namely the years 1970, 1990 and 2015. Magazine Lidé a Země is one of the longest continuously published magazine in our country, based on the Czech market since 1952. It therefore serves as a good example of a magazine, which reflects the political and social situation in Czechoslovakia, respectively Czech Republic, from the mid-20th century to the present. The quantitative and qualitative content analysis of the magazine is focused on how the content of the magazine reflected the political and social changes in 1970 and 1990. Research on these two years was monitoring the number of mentions mainly dealing with states so-called Western countries and the so-called East countries. Years 1970 and 1990 were then compared in a comparative analysis. Furthermore, the work is focused on current media trends that are described on the example of the year 2015.

Jazz in Music Activities
Beránek, Jiří ; Minářová Výborná, Terezie (referee) ; Nedělka, Michal (advisor)
Music of jazz sphere and more generally the whole branch of non-artistic music (perhaps with the exception of domestic folklore) remained in this country, as well as in the world for a long period out of the scope of both musical education and musicology. This situation has however changed profoundly during the last fifty years: modem popular music especially since 1960s has been gradually creeping into curricula, teaching plans and textbooks of musical education (and let us believe into its teaching practice too); special conservatory for this type of music was found and modern popular music is also a part of a college education of musical branch. Theory and history of non-artistic music has become newly crystallizing and very expanding discipline of musicology (besides theory and history of musical interpretation and musical semiotics). Especially in the U.S., the study of such discipline has become connected with already established awareness that in case of music of jazz sphere we are dealing with specifically American music, which is therefore appropriate subject for exploring American national culture and its heritage. Procházková, Lenka ; Novosad, Petr (referee) ; Brožovský, Jiří (advisor)
Nondestructive testing methods are employed as a tool for evaluation of parameters of building materials, especially to ascertain strength properties and to determine alteration occured during durability tests. An ultrasonic pulse velocity method is one of the most used nondestructive methods. A resonance method is employed among the nondestructive methods less. The aim of this work is to establish the calibration relationships between parameters of nondestructive testing and compressive strength value and flexural tensile strength value, respectively. Moreover, applicability of the calibration relationships is also discussed.
