Alternative medicine in specialized media and the reflection of these phenomena in the selected mainstream press media
Kábrt, Jiří ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Kocourková, Lucie (referee)
Diploma thesis "Alternative medicine in the specialized media and reflections of these phenomena in the selected mainstream press media" is researching specialized magazines with content oriented on alternative medicine emerging in the 90's of the previous century and in one case in the beginning of the 21st century. Thesis specifically examinates magazines - social magazine Reflex (on account of alternative medicine materials in the 1990 and 1991), Regena ( 1990 and 1991), Regenerace (1993 and 1994) and Meduňka (2004). In their first years magazines are described from historical and content perspective and in the same time they are contrasted with the topical volume of their predecessors (except of Reflex magazine). Another part of thesis is dedicated to observing two important czech daily papers - Mladá fronta / Mladá fronta Dnes and Lidové noviny (at the same observed periods). All five volumes of both periodicals contained numerous references which proves attractivity of these themes for society as a whole. While the analysis of specialized magazines was dealing with form by which are people interested in alternative medicine, reading of Mladá fronta / Mladá fronta Dnes and Lidové noviny evaluated general attitude of media to reader mostly uninitiated to these matters.

The usage of modern methods of moist healing in practice
TETALOVÁ, Veronika
ABSTRACT The usage of modern methods of moist healing in practice Introduction: The method of moist healing has been reintroduced in practice during the last years. This revolutionary change does not only concern the usage of specific materials and a complex approach to solving the problem, but also doctors, medical staff and even patients have started to be more interested in this specific topic. The development of modern way how to heal wounds in practice has divided medical staff into two groups; the ones who specialize in this method and the ones who respect new possibilities, however, have little experience with the issue. Objective: The aim of my bachelor thesis is to find out whether nurses make a choice in kinds of material used for moist wound healing according to the phase of wound healing (TIME system), if the materials are used more preventively or therapeutically and finally, whether nurses cooperate with doctors on the choice of material. The research sample was formed by 89 nurses working in standard departments (e.g. department of surgery, department of internal medicine, department of subsequent care) in Hospital Ceske Budejovice, JSC and Hospital Prachatice JSC. Results: I have discovered that my hypothesis (H3) ? nurses cooperate with doctors on the choice of material used for moist healing is confirmed. Hypothesis (H2) said that the materials used for moist healing are used mostly therapeutically in practice. According to the survey, I have discovered that nowadays these materials are mostly used either therapeutically or preventively. The result is presented in graph 15. As it was found out, materials used for moist wound healing are used in 57 % therapeutically as well as preventively in hospital care and only in 43% therapeutically. Hypothesis H2 is not confirmed. My hypothesis (H1) said: ?The choice of material used for moist healing is performed according to the phase of wound healing?. The results surprised me hence the hypothesis is not confirmed. Only 48 % of the respondents use TIME system. The difference between the usage and no usage of TIME system is only 4 %, which amounts to 3 people out of the total number of 75 respondents (100 %). Conclusion: The results of my research could be used for an extended research, as a source for standards and seminars for nurses and also for an article published in a specialized magazine.
Using services of the Centres of wet healing of wounds by primary care nurses
POLNICKÁ, Ludmila
Treatment of chronic wounds is a complicated multidisciplinary problem. Modern therapeutic dressings which are permeable and keep the wound wet play an important role in the treatment. At present many professionals strive for support and wider spread of wet wound healing in the Czech Republic. They are mostly nurse organisations, journals, pharmaceutical firms and ``Centres of wet wound healing``. The Centre of Vysočina region is in Jihlava. Centre staff help nurses, doctors and patients to improve the care of wounds. As seen from the results, in spite of all obstacles which nurses have to face while using modern therapeutical dressings the method of wet wound healing in the treatment is spreading. More and more nurses use this method. The Centre of wet wound healing and departments for chronic wounds help towards this effort.

Primary care nurses experience with wound treatment
ČEJKOVÁ, Jana
In this work study ``Experiences of nurses of primary care with wounds healing{\crqq} there are two main relevant questions {--} primary care of patients and wounds healing. Process of wounds healing has been for many years in significant attention of some medical branches. According to this interest many useful studies, discoveries and researches have been done. Wounds healing is not according to only affected locality, but also to the whole organism, immune system, metabolism, nourishment and many other aspects referential to this question. Patients with wounds can have more comfortable health care due to interests for tissue defects. However lots of experts try to implement new methods of wounds healing, majority of clients meet still the out of date therapies. Some kinds of primary health care have been used for a long time, other ones used to be used a long time ago and now are again renovating. All providers of primary health care are under capacity, financial and legislative pressure and so are not able to provide this health care in full extent. The aim of this study was to find ``Experiences of nurses of primary care with different materials for wounds healing{\crqq}. For this aim the hypothesis ``Nurses of primary care have not enough experiences with modern methods of wounds healing{\crqq} was settled. The second aim was ``To discover the interests of nurses of primary care for new experiences of wounds healing{\crqq}. This aim was encouraged by hypothesis ``Nurses have interests about new experiences of wounds healing{\crqq}. The information needed for this research were taken by questionnaires given to nurses working by general practitioners in České Budějovice and Benešov. Answers of 50 nurses were used for data processing. The hypothesis that nurses do not have enough experiences with wounds healing was confirmed. The second hypothesis was also confirmed. My work study could be useful for nurses of primary health care as summary of actual situation and so could improve the health care for clients.
Prospective study: Influence of BMI, comorbidity and aplication of antibiotics on healing of laparotomical cuts by women
CIMLOVÁ, Ivana
ABSTRACT At the end of the 20th century, the rapid development of new information also affected the gynaecological surgery. Ever new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures have been proposed, huge quantities of ever more effective medicaments are being developed, the physicians are being confronted with the solution of problems resulting from the adverse effects of the environment on the modern man. The care for women and mothers has completely changed in the last twenty years. In the classical gynaecology the diagnostic methods and the classification have changed (the inflammatory diseases, for example), new surgical methods were introduced into the routine practice. In this paper, we address the classical gynaecological surgical methods - the surgical therapy which only uses invasive surgical methods. We monitor the surgical wound healing after abdominal laparotomies. The objective of our work was to ascertain and compare the surgical wound healing after laparotomy surgeries in women with different BMI{\crq}s [Body Mass Index] and to find out during the hospitalisation whether women with an elevated BMI (25.0-29.9) are treated with antibiotics after laparotomy surgery. Three hypotheses were proposed. The first hypothesis reads as follows: ``In women with BMI within the norm (BMI = 18.4-24.9), the operation wound heals per primam{\crqq}. The results have not confirmed this hypothesis completely. Even though the wounds healed per primam in an unequivocal majority of women, there were also women with wound healing per secundam. The second hypothesis says: ``In women with elevated BMI (25.0-29.9) and high BMI (equal or above 30.0) the surgical wound heals per secundam. The results represented in the graphs show that the second hypothesis was also disproved, there was not exclusive secondary healing in the groups with elevated and high BMI; nevertheless, the result was positive. The hypothesis 3 says: ``The women with elevated (25.0-29.9) and high (30.0 and more) BMI are treated with antibiotics during the hospitalisation. This hypothesis was confirmed. The quantitative investigation was carried out using the method of data collection from the medical documentation in randomly selected patients in the period August 2006 - November 2006. The data were collected in the archive of the České Budějovice Hospital, a. s. In this investigation, the healing of surgical wounds in women with different MBI{\crq}s was ascertained and compared. This work has brought us to the conclusion that the postoperative course is generally less complicated in women with BMI within the norm that in women with elevated or high BMI index. Therefore, attention must be paid to the increasing obesity and the connected complications, no only for health reasons. The results of this investigation can expand the health personnel{\crq}s information in the sphere of wound care after laparotomy surgery, and they could also serve as a basis for further investigations into this problem. This work can also be used in the teaching at the South-Bohemian University, published in professional journals and on the Internet.
