It explains the concept of social services, in particular the services in homes for the elderly, since the research is conducted in these facilities. It briefly describes each facility in which the research was conducted. The practical section, using qualitative research, the method of interviewing and the technique of semi-structured interviews, tries to find answers to the main and partial research questions. Seven semi-structured interviews were conducted with social workers from nursing homes for the elderly in the České Budějovice district, and 20 semi-structured interviews were conducted with the senior citizens who are involved in the volunteer programme. Satisfaction of users of social services in Home for the elderly in Netolice.
DUŠKOVÁ, Markéta
The aim of the work was to examine satisfaction of the users of social services in the Pohoda Retirement Home in Netolice. The theoretical part outlines the terms related to the problems of aging, to the process of adaptation to the changes related to aging and the possibilities of active free time spending in retirement homes. The practical part is focused on the programme offered in Pohoda Retirement Home in Netolice and on client satisfaction with the services offered. A qualitative research was chosen to serve this aim, where semi-structured interviews with the Home clients and social workers were conducted. A content analysis of a document and monitoring were further research methods applied. The Home offers its clients a wide range of various free-time activities, among others handcraft, groups, singing, dancing, memory training and individual visits. It depends on the clients themselves which of the activities they are able to pursue with regard to their health condition. I concentrated on a deeper insight into the problems of fee time activities in my research, as the published records of interviews from the visited facility show. Upon interviews with 8 clients of the Home I tried to probe more deeply into their choice of the individual activities. The factors affecting the choice of the individual activities are based on deeper problems based on the character, enjoyment and personality of the clients themselves. I am convinced that the research results might help the Home management in further development and improvement of the services offered to clients, and thus it may contribute to higher client satisfaction. * translation taken from literature

Project of house for indigent and problematic seniors.
LIŠKOVÁ, Kateřina
At present, the whole world has one characteristic feature in common, which is an increasing number of people reaching a high age. In this respect, the Czech Republic is no exception. As a result, the percentage of senior citizens is also steadily increasing. Most of these senior citizens will be threatened by a low income, especially those who live alone. At present there is no statistics that would show the numbers of senior citizens in specific age groups concerning the amount of pensions, and there is no statistics that would show the numbers in territorial units at lower levels than regions. It is surprising that, with the present alarming prognoses of the numbers of senior citizens, statistical data concerning pensions are not analysed in detail. Some of them rank in the group of poor and problematic senior citizens, as a result, for instance, of paying a low social insurance of failing to pay any social insurance at all. It will be necessary to create a network of services for low-income senior citizens that will guarantee their primary needs. The objective of this thesis was to carry out a monitoring of the need of services for low-income senior citizens, and a proposal of a possible provider of these services. The methodological process included a content and secondary data analysis of socio-demographic indicators about the population of senior citizens. The collection of primary data was conducted in the form of a semi-controlled interview with providers of social services for senior citizens. The target set consisted of senior citizens in the administrative area of the municipality with extended authority of České Budějovice, and the set subject to study consisted of providers of social services for senior citizens. The results of my diploma thesis have confirmed that a service for low-income senior citizens in České Budějovice is not available. My diploma thesis will constitute a basis for the Council of the City of České Budějovice when dealing with the questions concerning services for low-income senior citizens.

SOCHOROVÁ, Kateřina
ABSTRACT Act 108/2006 Coll., On social services, has made the issue of individually planned care a widely discussed subject, since it obligated the providers of social services, inter alia, to plan their activities in view of individual needs. The individually planned care is also one of major standards supposed to be met, if the services are to be rendered effectively and in good quality. The Bachelor paper aimed to explore the process of planning as applied at the Světlo (Light) Senior Citizen Home in the town of Písek. Moreover, the author strived to find out the extent to which the clients and the personnel were informed on the individual planning; in which way the relevant documentation was prepared on the premises; and whether the documentation satisfied the legal requirements. The theoretical section devoted attention to the principle concepts such as age; aging; and biological, mental and social changes in the lives of senior citizens. The author endeavored to specify the differences between the care that the citizens were given at residential facilities before 1989 and what they receive today. The next section deals with Act 108/2006 Coll. and presents facts about the Světlo Senior Citizen Home. The practical section was primarily intended to scrutinize the planning procedure specifically applied. The relevant qualitative research relied on the method semi-guided interviews held with five clients and with the related key personnel. Documentation was examined using the method of document analysis. The research yielded these conclusions: The facility plans the individual care effectively and in good quality. The clients are adequately informed on the process of individual planning, and the personnel are regularly instructed and ready to offer a great professional competence. Documentation is maintained properly, fully meeting what the legislation requires. Results of the research can provide information on the planning process of individual care, and they can become a source of inspiration not only to workers engaged in rendering social services but also to the general public.

HÁNOVÁ, Jana
Activation of elderly people as a part of the nursing care The activation is the process through which people, individuals or groups are stimulated to be active. All data were acquired by means of a qualitative research, and the interviews were conducted with the nurses and the elderly, namely in the long-term care unit and in the home for elderly people. The research revealed how the data are acquired from the elderly and how they are integrated into the nursing plans. The study also identified the ways of the activation of the elderly, the nurses focus on physical and physical activation of the elderly. Generally, the nurses perceive the activation very positively, and despite difficulties such as shortage of staff and time, they implement the activation in different quality. The research also detected that the Böhm´s model is applied minimally, and the nurses have not met with this model yet. The results of the study can be used by the management personnel, but also by the nurses who work with the elderly people directly. The nurses working with the elderly shall concentrate on specifics of the care for the elderly people within their lifelong learning. The management personnel shall lead to an individual approach to each elderly person because this is the way how to provide good quality care.
