Czech POINT: monitoring of citizens' needs or interest group?
Karlík, Pavel ; Minárik, Pavol (advisor) ; Stočková, Olga (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on implementation of the Czech POINT system, Czech Posting Testing Informative National Terminal, into existence. This application should simplify common administrative processes in communication with institutions such as Trades Licensing or Land Register Offices. The thesis is based on the special interest group theory and searches for the answer to the question whether the Czech POINT application is as revolutionary simplification for user as presented or whether it is only a result of successful lobbying of the creators of the system. The aim is to uncover the effectiveness of the running Czech POINTs and determine whether the main interest in the system functioning is on the part of its users or of its suppliers by monitoring and comparing. This research shows absence of influence of interest groups whose activity could initiate to create the system. Satisfied users are satisfied voters and that has surely fulfilled aim of political authorities.

Expression of cholinergic gene locus in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease
Zimčík, Pavel
(anglický jazyk) The most common senile dementia, Alzheimer disease (AD), is characterized by a decline of memory and high cognitive functions. Typical post-mortem brain lesions are extracellular amyloid deposits, intracellular neurofibrilary tangles and ruined cholinergic and other neurotransmitters systems. Connection between damaged central cholinergic system and beta-amyloid accumulation remains obscure. We examined parietal cortex of young adult (7- month-old) female APPswe/PS1dE9 double transgenic mice which develope beta-amyloid fragments at high rate. Cholinergic synapses of these mice demonstrate functional presynaptic (stimulated acetylcholine release) as well as postsynaptic (muscarinic receptor-induced Gprotein activation) deficits and reduction of cholinergic markers. The mRNA levels of choline acetyltransferase, vesicular acetylcholine transporter and M1 to M4 subtypes of muscarinic receptors were determined in transgenic and littermate controls using qPCR. Obtained experimental data does not show any changes in measured mRNA levels. These observations indicate that reduction of cholinergic synaptic markers and function is due to posttranscriptional events.

More effective approaches of brown coal post-mining restoration
Christov, Ivan ; Hendrychová, Markéta (advisor) ; Walmsley, Alena (referee)
The thesis is focused on evaluation of landscape restoration procedures. The land was heavily devastated by large-scale quarrying. Here are compared reclamation procedures used in the Czech Republic and abroad. Study area is the North Bohemian brown coal basin, which formed areas valuable for many endangered species of flora and fauna after the mining has ended. Surface coal mining method causes the extinction of villages, roads, railways, land and greenery. Our task now is to minimalize these effects as much as possible. To create a new landscape, with an emphasis on the environment. Reclamation helps us to do that. Monitored location is Střimická dump, where the representation of non-productive habitat was evaluated and there was proposed new, more efficient version of reclamation. Mapping has found that the current state of the dump is 5,2 % representation of non-productive habitat. The proposed variant represents the addition of new elements and thus increase the proportion to 23,5 %, which corresponds with the current trend of post-mining landscape recovery.

Briú: A Coffee Roasting Startup
Beck, Maximilian ; Jirsák, Petr (advisor) ; Nussbaumer, Rebecca (referee)
The purpose of this study is to examine the German coffee market and its appropriateness as a new market to enter for the startup Company Briu. The company has been continuously growing since its initial start. The Chilean Coffee startup has since then looked for new markets opportunities in Europe. Their favored market is Germany. The research conducted in this paper is supposed to reveal the market its suitability for the company its expansion. The following key areas are assessed in order to decide whether or not the company should enter the market: 1. The demand for specialty quality coffee in Germany 2. The supply chain for the product 3. Governmental support of startups in Germany 4. The potential of the German Coffee Market 5. The legal and regulatory frame in Germany 6. German Customer 7. Market attractiveness 8. Ease of entry 9. Partner selection In this study, nine Coffee startups were interviewed. All the companies are located in Germany and the interviews were conducted via phone. The results suggest that the demand for specialty coffee in Germany is high enough to make the market entry of the company successful. The legal and financial landscape of the German startup industry supports the decision to enter the German specialty coffee market and an appropriate supply chain as well as suitable business partners are available.

Ecology of Calamagrostis epigejos (L.) Roth
Vachová, Pavla ; Hejcman, Michal (advisor)
Ecology of expansion species is still a hot topic. The antropogenic landscape gradually occurred since the Neolithic . The result has been a change in the structure of plant communities and the successful expansion of species such as Calamagrostis epigejos. C. epigejos is expansive, perennial, long-stemmed, rhizomatous grass. Its important characteristic are very large ecological amplitude, high biomass production and a ability adjust habitat conditions. Experiments and studies that are included in dissertation, have the following basic objectives: (1) Investigate the expansion of C. epigejos in plant community. (2) Investigate the theoretical degree of stability of this phytocenosis. (3) Determine the response of C. epigejos to nutrients availability. (4) Test of possibility eliminating of C. epigejos. (5) Suggest a practical use of C. epigeos. Primarily, we monitored the reaction of interest species to management (aplication of N, P, K nutrients, mowing in various combinations). We were interested in its behavior in the plant community. It founded field and pot experiment. Results of field experiment were also used to calculate the theoretical measure of the stability of individual variants. Further research has been directed at eliminating C. epigejos using wireworms (Elateridae larvae species). The study which uses C epigejos for monitoring of deposition of heavy metals, has shown that aspects of the global expansion of the grass are not always negative.

Hydrological and soil erosion control importance of non-productive habitats in coal post-mining landscape restoration

The following section contains a methodology for field measurement - infiltration attempt made by a single-cylinder, during which found the average hydraulic conductivity of forests, meadows, successions and ruderals. The experiment was conducted at the lignite quarry dumps Czechoslovak army, Ležáky and Vršany.

Margins of Trade: Czech Firms Before, During and After the Crisis
Galuščák, Kamil ; Sutóris, Ivan
We investigate the extensive and intensive margins of trade of Czech firms in periods before, during and after the crisis of 2008–2009. The intensive margin explains most of the aggregate export growth in 2006–2014, which corroborates previous findings for other countries. The contribution of the extensive margin is smaller, explaining on average 39% of the aggregate export growth in 2006–2007 and around 25% to 30% of that in the post-crisis period. The lower contribution of the extensive margin may signal a lower rate of convergence of the Czech economy. The results indicate that the crisis had a more severe impact on small exporting firms and that exports to countries outside the EU gained more prominence in the post-crisis years. Our results are similar to findings from previous studies on the impact of participation in global value chains on firms’ trade. Specifically, a more negative impact of the crisis was observed for exports with higher import intensity. Overall, our results point to the importance of using disaggregated data in the analysis of countries’ export performance.
