Lifestyle of the Third Age University Students
HOLICKÁ, Monika
Lifestyle of the University of the Third Age listeners The thesis as a whole is written in the spirit of the quality of senior life and active spending an old age. First chapter ? Current status - represents the theoretical frame of the thesis which introduces the reader with the key issues essential for the correct understanding of the work. In its´ main subchapters are described demographical development and the population aging, life quality of senior people and social security in old age. Special chapter is dedicated to the tools of an active old age where the both national and international activities on this field are described, the types of senior organizations such as Active seniors clubs or People´s universities are divided, and separate chapter deals with the education of senior people including the description of educational activities like University of the Third Age or the Academy of the Third Age. The last part of mentioned chapter is dedicated to functions, targets and positive results of the senior people education. Remaining chapters concern the qualitative research. In the chapter two the objective of the thesis is defined, including the main and component research questions. The objective of the thesis is to describe the lifestyle of the senior people who participate on the educational activities within the University of the Third Age (U3V). Specifically to describe how their lifestyle differs unlike to the senior people who does not attend the educational courses via U3V and which positive benefits the study brings. The secondary objective is to determine the factors that impede these senior people to attend the Universities of the Third Age. Third chapter refers to the detailed description of the research methodology. The qualitative attitude with the research design of the case study was chosen for this thesis. I used the moderated interview method and the semi-structured interview for the data collecting and right after the framework analysis was chosen in order to process gathered data. To evaluate the data I used the case comparison method. This chapter also includes the description of the research sample selection and also its characteristics. Forth chapter presents the results of evaluated interviews. Whereas the research file was divided into three groups, also these results have a structure of three separated subchapters. The summary of gathered key knowledge is mentioned at the end of this chapter. I managed to identify the base differences in particular branches of senior people lifestyles between senior people that attend the U3V educational activities, those who don´t and the senior people participate in the Active senior clubs thanks to the comparison of the particular case studies. It is possible briefly to say that the result shows us that the U3V study has no influence on the softening of the feeling of loneliness, although the important role of the U3V in senior people lives mainly in giving them both the kind of meaning of life and the opportunity to spend old age actively with the people of the same generation with the same interests. Senior people who do not attend the educational activities indicate the lower number of meetings with other people, but on the other hand they meet their relatives much more often, in some cases every day, and thanks to this fact, they do not feel the loneliness and see their meaning of life in the care od family. This is the reason, why they do not have a need to attend other activities. After this chapter the Discussion follows, which compares the gathered results of the research with already publicized knowledge. The conclusion, bibliographic sources and the annexes are placed in the end of the thesis.

The effectiveness of chosen fundamental analysis methods on a sample of stocks
John, Jaroslav ; Veselá, Jitka (advisor) ; Vorek, Marián (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the effectiveness of chosen fundamental analysis valuation methods on a sample of stocks. The sample consists of stocks traded on the Prague Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange. The Czech part of the sample consists of stocks of ČEZ, Erste Group Bank, Komerční banka, Philip Morris ČR and Telefónica O2. The American part of the sample includes stocks of Coca Cola, General Electric, Intel, Southern Company and Bank of America. These stocks are valued by dividend discount models and cash-flow models stepwise to the end of the years 2005 and 2006. As regards the dividend models, the Gordon model, the three-stage model and the H-model are applied whereas within the cash-flow models the DCF equity method was chosen. The effectiveness of the valuation process was subsequently tested over the course of three years by comparing the particular stock returns and the returns of the market portfolio represented by market index. The evaluation of effectiveness is then done in terms of the absolute, the relative and the portfolio effectiveness.

Influenza and its etiological agens - virus of many faces
KUČEROVÁ, Olga
This thesis deals with the problem of influenza and other respiratory infections. Influenza is one of the most common infectious diseases, which affect 10 % of population each year and during pandemics even 40-50 %. It is often mistaken with common respiratory infections, which mostly have a mild course. This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part describes the history of influenza and mentions previous pandemics of flu. Further it contains epidemiological characteristics of influenza, deals with vaccination against this disease and we can also find there the explanation of terms such as epidemics, pandemics or between pandemic periods. The thesis contains main differences between influenza and other respiratory infections. The last chapter is composed of brief information of bird flu. In practical part the following aim and hypotheses were stated. The aim of the thesis was to find out the South Moravian region inhabitants´ informedness of differences between influenza and other respiratory infections. I stated two hypotheses. The first hypothesis presumes that the population is interested in the problem of respiratory infections and influenza. The second hypothesis reads: Population does not have true information of differences between influenza and other respiratory infections. To process this thesis I used quantitative research which was carried out by the method of questioning using the questionnaires. It is the most used means of data collection because it enables to provide a big amount of empirical data in a relatively short time. The questionnaire contained 18 questions. I distributed 130 questionnaires, but I could include only 109 complete questionnaires in the research. All results were processed in the form of graphs. After data evaluation both my hypotheses were proved. First hypothesis proved that people are interested in given problem; however women are more interested than men. The second hypothesis was also proved. The research proved unfamiliarity with the differences between influenza and other respiratory infections.

Vascular disorders of gastrointestinal tract - Diagnostics and endovascular therapy
MOKRÁ, Michaela
An important group of diseases affecting gastrointestinal tract is derived from impaired function of the blood vessels. These disorders involve bleeding (arterial and venous), aneurysms and intestinal ischaemia. Interventional approaches to treat gastrointestinal haemorrhage differ in arterial and venous bleedings. In treatment of arterial bleeding, embolization techniques are utilized for selective occlusion of a damaged artery. In case of venous varices, transjugular intrahepatic portosystem shunt (TIPS) must be introduced. Chronic mesenteric ischaemia is relieved by angioplasty with a stent placement. Endovascular extraction in acute intestinal ischaemia is performed with aspiration thrombectomy of the blood clot at the site of peripheral vascular occlusion. In our department, we treated 99 patients with disorders of gastrointestinal blood vessels in the course of two years. In 27 patients, we searched for the cause of arterial bleeding (in 33.3%, the bleeding was not confirmed). We performed 24 embolizations. In 55 patients, TIPS was placed; of these, additional embolization of portosystemic collateral was performed in 44 patients. Two patients suffering with mesenteric ischaemia were treated with PTA and stent placement. Seven patients with intestinal ischaemia were treated with the use of aspiration thrombectomy with a promising result - a complete recanalization was reached in 4 cases. Nowadays, endovascular therapy is a method of choice in therapy of vascular disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. In correct indications, endovascular therapy represents a save and effective method that shows a relatively good technical and clinical efficacy.

Verification of nondosimetric parameters of planning systems
ZAPLETALOVÁ, Barbara
During the recent years radio-therapy has developed significantly in the Czech Republic. Contemporary planning systems enable us to send on-line both input (CT, MR) and output data (simulator, verification system). The overall exactness of the radio-therapeutic treatment of patients is dependent significantly on the accuracy and reliability of the planning system. Thus, the planning system should be evaluated as a significant item in terms of the radiation protection and its properties and functions must be checked regularly. Before starting the TPS operation, an acceptance test must be performed and in the course of using it regular tests of the operation stability should be carried out. At present, only some working places apply thoroughly the programme of securing the quality of planning systems. Attention is usually paid only to dosimeter variables, that is, verifying the correct dose distribution. Planning systems, however, in connection with the computer tomography (CT) have many more other non-dosimeter functions. They include: gaining CT pictures, their transmission into TPS, functions for creating the outer contour of the patient as well as the contour of the inner structures, manipulation with the contours, the reconstruction of scissions, digitally reconstructed radiographs, conversion of the CT number - relative electron density (RED), calculation of volumes of structures, the geometric scheme of clusters, etc. The aim of my bachelor thesis is to verify the usage of CT phantoms (TOS) supplied on a regular basis for checking the non-dosimeter variables of planning systems for radio-therapy. At present the tests are carried out with the help of the so-called QUASAR phantoms, which must be borrowed from the State Board of Radiation Protection.

Joint Physical Custody after Divorce - Advantages and Disadvantages
ZELENÁ, Šárka
In 1998 an amendment of the Family Act of 1963 made it possible, following the example of western countries, to entrust children to joint physical custody of parents, after their divorce. This gives them the possibility to equally share the upbringing and making decisions in important matters concerning their child after their divorce. This form of post-divorce organisation of child care is relatively new in this country, and that is why we have little experience with it so far. Specialists who are in contact with the questions of the joint physical custody present a number of both advantages and disadvantages. The objective of my diploma thesis was to map the particular questions, find out how the professional and non-professional public view the joint physical custody, and subsequently, compare these results. My further objective was to describe the advantages and disadvantages resulting from the shared parenting. My research was based on the hypothesis that the professional public regarded this post-divorce organisation of child care as suitable, further on the hypothesis that non-professional public was not sufficiently informed about this possibility of post-divorce organisation of child care, and, last but not least, the statement that there were differences between the attitude held by the professional and that held by the non-professional public to the questions mentioned. Two of the three hypotheses were confirmed in the course of the research. The conducted research is of explorative character, it combines elements of quantitative and qualitative research. To conduct it I used the method of questioning by means of an anonymous questionnaire, the data obtained were processed in the computer SPSS programme. In questions containing qualitative data, I conducted a qualitative content analysis. Another technique that I applied was the secondary data analysis. The research sample was made up of randomly chosen representatives of both professional and non-professional public from the Regions of South Bohemia and Hradec Králové. My thesis will serve as a feedback for specialists dealing with this field, it will be used for the needs of the Children and Family Crisis Centre in České Budějovice. Its results will serve for the improvement of information of professional and non-professional public.

Novotný, Radek ; Vavroušková, Stanislava (advisor) ; Strnad, Jaroslav (referee) ; Hons, Pavel (referee)
Radek Novotný Malaiyaka Tamil Youth in Sri Lanka: Values, Aspirations, and the Forming of a New Elite Malaiyaka Tamils are a minority and lowest-status group within the society of Sri Lanka. A majority of them were brought by the British colonialists from India to work on their coffee, later tea plantations in the course of the 19th and 20th century. They were deprived of their basic civil rights in 1940's. However, the Malaiyaka Tamils have been undergoing a process of considerable social-economic changes over the last three decades, which was launched especially by the attainment of citizenship, growth of educational opportunities, and growth of civic and political awareness. The young Malaiyaka Tamils have an opportunity to become the first relatively well-educated generation and new elite of their ethnic group. This work attempts to analyse the prospects of the Malaiyaka Tamils youth's upward social mobility process by investigating their aspirations, values, and attitudes. I conducted field research in the so-called Hill Country of Sri Lanka, and I collected data by using methods, especially, of semi-structured interviews and questionnaire survey. We can assume that the target population will undergo a process of structural upward social mobility, and will become the new social- economic...
