The Effect of Temperature on Suicide: A Meta-Analysis
Bartušek, Daniel ; Havránková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Bajzík, Josef (referee)
In this thesis I investigate the empirical evidence on the relationship between temperature and suicide rates. The previous survey on the relationship sug- gested that a 1řC increase in temperature is associated with a 1% increase in suicide risk. An estimate of this magnitude would play a significant role in the computation of the social cost of carbon, a concept used to set climate-related regulations by policymakers around the world. I challenge this conclusion using novel, state-of-the-art meta-analysis methods. By expanding the dataset and correcting for publication bias I show that the effect of temperature on suicide rates is three times less than previously suggested, deeming the relationship economically insignificant. Moreover, I did not find any robust evidence for a specific study design that would systematically influence the magnitude of the estimated effect quantifying this relationship. Prediction of the atmospheric turbulence
Sloboda, Šimon ; Barcík, Peter (referee) ; Hudcová, Lucie (advisor)
The aim of this work is to examine theoretical knowledge of the refractive index structure parameter and models for its calculation and prediction. Based on data downloaded from meteorological services, the accuracy of refractive index structure parameter prediction using Sadot-Kopeika model was evaluated at ten different locations on Earth. A program was created for the calculation and prediction of the refractive index structure parameter, which uses downloaded meteorological data.
Porovnání klasických a současných povrchových úprav stavebně-truhlářských výrobků v exteriéru
Luňáček, Martin
This thesis compares the differences between the use of classical and contemporary treatment practices of woodwork surfaces in carpentry, focusing on wood products made of acacia, oak, and spruce. Ox blood and used automotive oil were used for classical surface treatment whereas water-soluable pigment paints were used for contemporary treatment practices; choices were based on various conditions, such as weather, wind, or cardinal directions. Changes of the surface conditions were monitored and form the basis of this thesis; experimental measurement of samples, which were exposed to exterior conditions for ten months, form the basis of research data. A set of samples which were kept under constant environmental conditions with no access to light were stored in a laboratory in order to provide a set of contrasting samples to samples exposed to exterior conditions.
Vliv různých druhů povrchových úprav stavebně - truhlářských výrobků ze dřeva akátu v exteriéru na jejich životnost
Culka, Jiří
This thesis deals with the problems which are associated with protective, physical-mechanical eventualy aesthetic characteristics changes of acacia wood finishes, depending on the atmospheric conditions in exterior. Under the influence of atmospheric conditions, such as weather conditions, moisture, sunlight and temperature changing, there are changes on the finishes. The extent of these changes are compared there to depending on the orientation to the cardinal. The work is based on practical measurements on test plane and molded samples in two different shades of water-based paints. These paints are different by the ratio of the pigments in the paints. These test samples has been exposed to atmospheric conditions at the four cardinal for ten months. The values of measurements, which were realised each month during the exposing, were compared with reference samples, which were stored in a dark place without air exposure all the time.
Odolnost povrchových úprav masivního dřeva akát v exteriéru vůči mechanickému namáhání
Buigl, Adam
This bachelor thesis focuses on different surface treatments of wood, particularly on its suitability for an outdoor children playground made of acacia wood. Emphasis is placed on changes in physical chemical and aesthetic characteristics of the surface treatment, depending on the duration of the wood being exposed to the external weather conditions such as insolation, humidity and temperature changes. Another examined factor that had an impact on the surface treatment was the dependence on the orientation to the cardinal points. The thesis is supported by laboratory measurements of the samples, which were exposed to a surface treatment and then had to face the external weather conditions for eight months, during which, four measurements were done. The measured values were compared to the reference sample.
Projekt zalesnění kalamitních holin na území LS LČR Vítkov
Valíček, Jakub
The aim of this diploma thesis is to elaborate a complex project of restoration of clearing due to salvage felling in the forest district Odry and reconstruction of the spruce in the district of Heřmánky. The forest districts are under the administration of the state enterprise Forests of the Czech Republic, specifically under the Forest Administration of Vítkov. The project includes an analysis of causes of declining and dying stands in the selected area, stand condition, condition of clearings and young plantations, site preparation, methods of woody species and methods of recovery, protective and defensive methods of established plantation, direct economic costs.

Basic summary knowledge of the objective mountains hazards in freeride skiing users
Preininger, Kryštof ; Jindra, Matouš (advisor) ; Chrástková, Martina (referee)
Title: Basic summary knowledge of the objective mountain hazards in freeride skiing users. Objectives: The aim of this work is to create an overview of theoretical knowledge of objective mountain hazards for freeride skiing users. Methods: I used the search method, exploration and analysis of the obtained information, which is related to the objective danger of the mountains. Results: The result of this work is to create an overview of the knowledge needed before riding in the open terrain, which should help in the movement in the open terrain and to prevent dangerous situations. Keywords: avalanche, terrain, weather
Emo Weather
Drštičková, Hana ; Šlesingerová,, Eva (referee) ; Sterec, Pavel (advisor)
The artwork was created by linking two thematic areas, mental health and atmospheric phenomena aka weather. I am examining forms of alienation and emotional numbness, which I follow by thematizing the isolation of people from the external environment and manifestations of local weather. I touch upon the topics of current weather representations, such as meteorological satellite images, and last but not least, I contemplate the fact of climate crisis. The work takes the form of a 100-minute long video, a set of 21 paintings by aniline colors on paper, sound track played in a loop and additional literature, texts and sketches available for public.
