Green as a healing element of buildings and cities

Tato práce se zaměřuje na představení městské zeleně jako důležitý prvek udržitelné výstavby, a především jako prvek, který zbavuje okolní vzduch znečištění a přispívá k lepšímu prostředí ve městech. Dále se tato diplomová práce zabývá vztahem mezi městskou zelení a znečištěním ovzduší oxidem uhličitým v Brně. Ve městě byla prováděná měření koncentrací oxidu uhličitého, kyslíku a sekundárních veličin po dobu půl roku od června do listopadu roku 2019. Měření byla prováděna na čtyřech místech v Brně a dále tato data byla mezi sebou porovnána. Dále byla navrhnuta zelená opatření. Ve dvou vybraných lokalitách v Brně byly vybrány střechy, na které byla navrhnuta extenzivní zelená střecha.

Adaptation of the urban environment on climate changeclimate change

Submitted bachelor thesis deals with adaptations of the urban environment to climate change, with special focus on adaptation strategies using greenery as the element of positive influence on the urban environment. The thesis is divided into two sections. In the first section the problematic of climate change and its effects and consequences for the urban environment is introduced, using both domestic and foreign sources. Scientific findings and adaptation options are listed with some examples of applied adaptation measures. The psychological effect on the city population is also considered as also a sociological research was conducted. The second part deals with analysis of the impact of two adaptation measures, both realized in the city of Brno – the existing green roof in Otevřená zahrada at Obilní trh and the City Cell Prototype – the temporary installation realised on Malinovského náměstí. The temperature and humidity data collected in the reference period (August – October/September – October 2018) are analysed together with the data recorded by meteorological station of the Institute of Landscape Water Management at the Brno University of Technology – Faculty of Civil Engineering.

Kaprová (2019): Revealed preferences for outdoor recreation in natural areas - Czech and European perspective Abstract of the Doctoral Dissertation The dissertation thesis focuses on the investigation and synthesis of recreation welfare benefits associated with natural areas in the Czech Republic and in Europe. The dissertation thesis consists of five case studies. These represent various geographic levels of analysis: the level of one single recreation locality, the national level that takes into account large natural recreation sites in the Czech Republic (including protected areas), and a synthesis of results of studies on the European level. The methodological approach is based on the theory of environmental economics and employs non-market valuation techniques based on methods of revealed preferences, namely the hedonic pricing method and two types of travel cost modelling. In Study I, we examine how the presence and characteristics of urban greenery affect property prices in Prague. The results confirm that proximity to greenery and its area are important determinants of housing prices in Prague, which means that residents realize the positive values provided by urban greenery, including recreational ecosystem service. This bachelor thesis is dealing with research of present situation of the green vegetation. It's include deep research of literature, the historical as well as the actual one. The thesis is also consisted of field research, what is used in the next part as material sources for a plan of the final regeneration. It also include abstract from the historical period of time of whole city as well as for all important parks what are in the city. Also the thesis is planning the city system of green in which will be connected with other city green vegetation areas.

Proposal for a revitalization of greenery in the selected area

In its theoretical part deals with the importance of green areas in towns and settlements, the history of its inception, its different forms and the importance for a healthy way of life of the urban population. The work follows the influence of green areas on a person in terms of aesthetic and hygienic. Discusses the importance and development of the landscape as well and its effect on human activities and return to the influence of the landscape and the nature of the mental and physical health of a person. The practical part of the thesis, the revitalization of the city's historic park addresses located on the square, Husova. The goal of the revitalization of the Park is to improve the functionality of the reference territory from ecological, functional and aesthetic.

Biotopové nároky synantropních ptáků (vrabec domácí, vrabec polní a hrdlička zahradní)

Aim of this study was to assess distribution and abundance of common synanthropic species of birds (House sparrow, Tree sparrow, Eurasian collared dove and Blackbird) in area of the city České Budějovice in the Czech Republic in autumn and winter. Habitat preferences of these species were analysed. Study also determined influence of the certain characteristics of urban vegetation on their occupation by both species of sparrows.

This thesis is focused on summarizing the importance of urban greenery and emphasize the importance of its management. The introductory chapter discusses the historical development of urban greenery, followed by the most important functions and their influence on the urban environment and the population living there. The third chapter is focused on legislative for the management of urban greenery and problematics with the planting, maintenance and felling. The final chapter is divided into two main parts. The first mentions the use of some modern technologies in connection with the management of urban greenery. In the second shows the current situation of the management of greenery and a brief description of the České Budějovice with partial involvement of modern methods of information collection and their subsequent use in planning professional intervention.

Roztoky u Prahy - revitalisation of the public space. Lanscape design of the sport place .

This thesis deals with landscape design of public space situated in Czech town Roztoky.
First part focuses on greenery in urban spaces, designing children's playgrounds and outdoor sport places. Opinions of individual authors, specialists are taken into consideration, talking about topics such as greenery in small cities, problems and suggestions of designing children's playground, positive influence of outdoor sporting on people's health, types of outdoor sport places, etc. All this information is put together to help to design the right public space.
The second part of this thesis contains assessment of underlying data, which characterises the whole area including natural conditions, wider relation of the selected area, transportation etc. It also includes mapping of public greenery, children's playgrounds and outdoor sport places in Roztoky.
Before the actual design was made, there were area analyses conducted, and current status of the area was taken into account. Citizens of Roztoky were given a questionnaire, which contained seven questions. This questionnaire was made to find out what people think about the selected area and what would they like to change. All this information was taken into account, while making the design.
The objective of the final design was to attract people into the selected area and enable them to play, sport, relax in public space and feel comfortable at the same time.

Dlážděnka park - The project of a new design

Presented diploma theses is focused on revitalization of urban park in Prague. This thesis is composed of three parts. Initial part represents review of selected literature dealing with public space, its meaning, historical development, and qualities. In connection to this theme it deals with one specific form of public space, urban park, and public greenery in general. In this chapter qualities of urban public space are examined together with current issues and trends in new urban space designs and revitalizations. The second part is concentrated on the place of interest and its analyses. The core of this part is to collect wide range of information about the area. Emphasis is put on environmental factors, historical development, and space factors of close surrounding. Analyses of current use was done by field investigation and social survey, which was done by questioner. Other information was collected by personal interviews with local representatives and park users. Requirements of local users were collected as well. Design of selected area composes the last part of the theses. Concept of new park layout comes out from characteristics creating current state and is inspired by historical context. At the same time, it is based on requirements of its users. Presented design is drawn up as case study, which is supported by representative sections and visualizations. This part covers design of crucial details as well. To keep a track of design general cost estimate is presented. The core of this design is to create a space which is attractive to its users, who will spend more time in public space and share it with its neighbours.
