Feminization of education in the 70s and 80s
ZABRONSKÁ, Alena
The thesis will seek to answer the question of how the feminisation of primary and secondary education from the 1970s to the 1980s was reflected in public and professional debates. In the introduction of the thesis I will describe the phenomenon of feminisation of education in the historical perspective of the Czech environment. In particular, I will focus on what views and ideas prevailed about the feminisation of education under socialism. The aim of my thesis is to answer the following questions: "How big a problem was the feminisation of education considered to be?", "To what extent was the question of whether feminisation had an impact on the development and behaviour of pupils reflected in contemporary discussions?", "What arguments were used in these discussions?", "To what extent was the increase in the number of women among teachers considered part of women's emancipation in contemporary discussions?". In this thesis I will mainly rely on contemporary journals, from which I will analyse individual interviews and articles mentioning the feminisation of education. I will also rely on professional literature that looks at the issue from multiple angles and records its development in the Czech education environment in detail.

Zděnek, Jiří ; Kosek, Jan (advisor) ; Chmel, Jan (referee)
v anglickém jazyce This thesis critically examines the current state of gender inequality in the Czech Republic with a focus on work, family life, and politics. The main objective is to identify the causes and consequences of these inequalities, and to evaluate whether and to what extent they are due to natural differences between men and women or to the influence of social constructs. Additionally, the role of law in relation to the redress of gender inequality is explored. The theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of key concepts and theories related to gender equality and inequality, as well as a discussion of the development of gender equality legislation within international, European, and national law. In the empirical part of the thesis, a comprehensive analysis of various sources, including statistical data and opinion polls, is conducted to provide detailed insights into gender inequality in the Czech Republic. This analysis covers multiple areas, including income disparities, childcare responsibilities, political representation, and vertical and horizontal segregation. Furthermore, the thesis examines the social and cultural factors that significantly influence gender equality, which often fall outside the purview of legal frameworks.
Portrait of columnist Alena Wagnerová
Máchová, Natalie ; Malý, Radek (advisor) ; Čeňková, Jana (referee)
This diploma thesis sums up the life and work of Alena Wagnerová with an emphasis on topics that she has reflected in her books and articles. Alena Wagnerová first started to publish her work in the magazine Plamen in the nineteen-sixties. By then, her interest in social problems and in stories of people marginalized by the society has already started to show. After her immigration to Germany, she has fully begun to focus on issues related to the equality between women and men and in 1974 she published her book Žena za socialismu: Československo 1945-1974 a reflexe vývoje před rokem 1989 a po něm. Later on she has also published for example a monograph about the baroness Sidionie Nádherná or Czech journalist Milena Jesenská and the Franz Kafka family. This thesis also marginally covers the oral history as a method, since Alena Wagnerová presents a significant representation of this type of methodology. Among her most important publications based on the oral history belong for instance Odsunuté vzpomínky and Neodsunuté vzpomínky, in which Wagnerová covers the post-war Czech-German relations in Sudeten. Even though Wagnerová mainly focuses on the non-fiction literature, she also writes fiction, which is covered in the diploma theses as well.
