Variations with periods near 1.3 year in solar and geomagnetic activity
Střeštík, Jaroslav
The period about 1.3 years, found some time ago in solar wind velocity and in some biological data, is in geomagnetic aktivity prezent only in a short interval after 1990 a in leader extent around 1942. Other periods in the vicinity appear only sporadically and are much weaker. A connection with the solar cycle (even – odd) was not found. In solar acitvity these periods do not appear at all.
Solar/geomagnetic aktivity, temperature of the winter polar lower stratosphere, the QBO phase and the stratospheric polar vortex
Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel ; Huth, Radan ; Davídkovová, Hana
Labitzke (1987) has found a strong correlation between lower stratosphere temperature and solar cycle for data divided according to the QBO phase. This correlation explained why low solar activity combined with QBO-east phase or high solar activity and QBO-west phase was often followed by stratospheric warming and disturbed polar vortex. On th other hand, Arnold and Robinson (2001) have shown that high geomagnetic activity gives rise to cooling of lower stratosphere and leads to the strenghtening of polar vortex.
Seismic noise: unfortunate companion of seismic measurements but also a scout from the Earth's depths
Růžek, Bohuslav ; Zedník, Jan
Seismic records are contamined by noise. In classical approach elastic waves generated by an earthquake or a quary blast are considered as a deterministic signal and seismic noise as a random signal. Commonly noise is removed or at least reduced by filtering. In recent years also an opposite approach appeared. Propagation of noise followed the same principles as for the deterministic signals - it is medium dependent.
Report on the geothermal research in borehole GTPVLT-1 (Litoměřice) - appendix
Šafanda, Jan ; Dědeček, Petr ; Krešl, Milan ; Čermák, Vladimír
The report provides detailed information about geothermal research in borehole GTPVLT-1 in the Czech Republic together with all graphic outputs. It includes (i) repeated temperature logs during and after the borehole drilling, (ii) measurements of thermal conductivity and diffusivity of the encountered rock samples, (iii) measurements of radioactive isotopes content of uranium, thorium and potassium in the encountered rock samples and calculation of their radiogenic heat production, (iv) determination of the terrestrial heat flow in the borehole and (v) prognosis of temperature expected down to the depth of 5 km.

Detailed map of magnetic susceptibility of topsoils in the KRNAP region and correlation with heavy metals
Kapička, Aleš
This report presents detailed map of magnetic susceptibility of topsoils in the KRNAP region, its vertical distribution, and correlation with heavy metals. The data contribute to identification of local sources of pollution and delimitation of their impact.
The influence of the 11-year solar cycle on the Arctic Oscillation
Huth, Radan ; Bochníček, Josef ; Hejda, Pavel
We study the influence of the solar activity on the Arctic Oscillation, in particular on its intensity and Pacific centre.
Transformace chyb pomoci symbolicko-numerického postupu
Kolář, Petr
A standard MT decomposition is routine but non-linear process which do not allowed apply standard errors transformation formulas. Therefore new symbolical numeric approach has been developed.
MEPL2 – interaktivně-dávkový nástroj pro vykreslení plných MT
Kolář, Petr
New interactive program for full seismic moment tensors plotting is presented. Among other features, interactive as well as batch data input is supported.
Climatic change from the air temperature measurement in Prague-Klementinum during 230 years
Střeštík, Jaroslav ; Rožnovský, J.
In the University campus Klementinum in Prague air temperatures have been recorded every day since 1775 till now without interruption. The regular increase of the average air temperature starting in the middle of the 19th century and lasting till now is clear, and the decrease in the first half of the 19th century as well.
