Employee Engagement
Štillerová, Aneta ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor) ; Reichel, Jiří (referee)
Employee engagement is a recent work attitude that was introduced among practitioners in the 90's of last century. Academic researchers accepted this new concept reservedly and discuss the actual contribution of the term to the work motivation theory. There can be identified several different approaches toward defining the term in the academic literature. Yet there is no general agreement on one single approach. At the same time the concept is a subject to objections, that it brings nothing new and extra above the existing work concepts, especially work satisfaction and organizational commitment. In my thesis I set myself an objective to answer a question whether the concept of employee engagement introduces new aspects of strong identification and activation to the work motivation theory. In the second chapter I compare employee engagement to the established work attitudes, namely to work satisfaction, organizational commitment, job involvement and organizational citizenship behaviour. By compilation of theoretical resources I demonstrate that employee engagement is distinct from the other work attitudes by its strong degree of employee identification and activation. Afterwards I define engagement on its own and strive for systematic classification of its concepts. Via compilation of theoretical...

Introducing Nursing Care Standard to the Anaesthesiology Clinic
Štěpánková, Jitka ; Holmerová, Iva (advisor) ; Vaculíková, Barbora (referee)
Nowadays, "quality" is a much-used term in connection with the provision of healthcare. Every healthcare provider has as its goal the provision of high-quality services. Its up to each of them to decide both how ambitious they can be in the pursuit of patient satisfaction and how best to achieve this. At the IKEM Anaesthesiology Clinic, we provide post-operative care for patients after cardiac surgery. In the early stages of recovery, patients can suffer acute pain accompanied by a whole range of other symptoms. Insufficient analgesia prevents patients attempting adequate breathing rehabilitation and early post-operative mobilisation. Some patients accept pain as part and parcel of surgery. Even though they are in pain they don't think to ask for analgesia. For these reasons, we decided to research how the patient views his own comfort and rates his experience of the medical care provided in the post-operative department. By means of simple organisational measures - increasing the frequency and relevance of patient feedback, by standardising procedures and introducing standard practices into the analgaesic therapy, it is possible to increase patients' comfort. And this without increasing costs and without unnecessary side-effects.

Monitoring of Socially Tolerated Addictive Substances in Students at the University
TEPLÁ, Simona
The Czech Republic is one of those countries where it is possible to monitor a trend of excessive hard drinking; and the alcohol consummation is quite common and tolerated phenomenon in this country, the same as smoking of tobacco products. The society toleration is high within this field. Experimenting with habit-forming substances is an integral part of this period; therefore just this became the target of my thesis. The theoretical part brings the knowledge of individual socially tolerated habit-forming substances (alcohol, tobacco, excessive use of medicines, caffeine and anabolic substances) and of the related problems. Furthermore, this part contains specifics of university population. The aim of this thesis was to map the problem of the socially tolerated habit-forming substances in university students in term of the students{\crq} preferences and attitudes towards such substances. Simultaneously, the thesis was to verify two forward hypotheses. This verification was followed by the chosen questioning method by means of questionnaires. The questionnaires were addressed to students of the South Bohemian University in České Budějovice. The research set to collect the questionnaire data is made up by 213 respondents as a whole. H1 Hypothesis supposed that university students use the socially tolerated habit-forming substances to a higher degree during the examination period. This hypothesis was not verified. H2 Hypothesis supposed that the student hostel life encourages and increases use of the socially tolerated habit-forming substances. The observed results brought the verification of such hypothesis. The attitude of the students towards the socially tolerated habit-forming substances is predominantly positive. The thesis brought new knowledge and mapped the situation within the socially tolerated habit-forming substances abuse in university students; hence it can serve to implementation of the effective prevention focused on this specific group.
