TITLE: Suitable Nutrition for Optimal Sport Performance in Artistic Gymnastics AUTHOR: Daniel Radovesnický DEPARTMENT: Department of Education SUPERVISOR: Ing. Bc. Alena Váchová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The topic of this bachelor's thesis is appropriate nutrition for optimal performance in artistic gymnastics. It is focused on the issues of nutrition in artistic gymnastics, based on individual diet plans. It identifies individual approaches to nutrition by members of the Czech national artistic gymnastics team and makes nutritional recommendations based on most recent research findings. It also examines the differences in the diets of male and female gymnasts. The thesis is divided into a number of sections: the theoretical section describes artistic gymnastics, its history, energy intensity and the latest findings in the field of nutrition and sports diet. Setting a proper diet plan is a complex matter that is highly individual, because there is no universal and valid nutritional style for every person. The practical part examines current dietary habits of members of the Czech national gymnastics team. Their personal data and weekly nutritional records enable an evaluation of individual nutritional advantages and deficiencies. The final results present significant deficiencies in the nutrition of gymnasts and...
The influence of training on the lungs functional capacity in gymnasts
Říhová, Marcela ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Krištofič, Jaroslav (referee)
Title: The effect of training exercise on lung functional capacity in gymnasts Objectives: The objectives of this work is to find out the influence of gymnastic exercise on forced vital capacity (FVC), heart rate and blood LA. Methods: Nine female top-level artistic gymnasts participated in the study. The age ranged between 18-25 years. FVC was measured by a personal spirometer, heart rate by a sportester, and blood lactate level by a blood LA analyzer Statistical analysis: Pearson correlation coefficient was used to determine the relationships between variables. The Shapiro-Wilk normality test was used to test normality in our dependent variables. Regression models were used to estimate associations between variables. Non-parametric Friedman test was used to test the differences between measurements and Wilcoxon test was used for post-hoc analysis. Results: A statistically significant increasing (p <0.05) was found in the blood LA as well as in heart rate. A statistically significant relationship (p <0.05) was confirmed between resting LA level and percentage changes in FVC and LA. Keywords: spirometer, sporttester, blood lactate, burpee test, LA, artistic gymnastics
Use the MABC - 2 test battery to measure sport motor gymnastics
PLAVCOVÁ, Adéla
The graduation thesis is focused on the evaluation in motoric skills of sports gymnasts (n=18) aged between 7 to 10 years. The whole study took place in České Budějovice in the Merkur center with the support of a gymnastic team. For this experiment was used the methody called "MABC-2 formula" (Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2nd edition). The MABC-2 test is a standardized test that verifies a level of the motor function while indicating motor difficulties and difficulty in coordination. It consists of eight test items that are divided into three components. Individual components focus on testing fine motor skills (manual skill), gross motor skills (aiming and catching) and balance. After performing the MABC-2 test and obtaining gross scores for each item, we created tables and graphs of component and total test scores (TTS). We compared the results to the standardization norms this test battery and with other researches in this field that deal with motor testing using the MABC-2 test battery. At the basis of this comparison, we evaluated the level of motor skills in the tested group of gymnasts. This thesis confirmed that gymnasts achieved in all components above-average results. For evaluation of the gymnasts balance skills the MABC-2 wasn´t sensitive enought.

Duba, Jiří ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Krištofič, Jaroslav (referee)
Title: The utilization of tensiomyograph for measuring muscle imbalances of men in artistic gymnastics. Objectives: The goal of the study is through utilization of tensiomyograph determinate commonly occuring phenomenona in musculoskeletal system in mens artistic gymnastics. Methods: This is a pilot study. Data were collected with tensiomyograph. Research was done through qualitative mapping of 10 probands. Five muscles on the upper part of the body were measured on each side - 10 muscles total. Results: Percentage if recommended activities is as follows: 39% of stretching exercises, 26% of activation exercises, 3% of strength exercises. Muscles with standard physiological properties account for 32% of the whole representation Total lateral symmetry of each muscle is in the range of 6.4%. The highest lateral symmetry was achieved by the muscle biceps brachii with 86.5% and the lowest latissmus dorsi with 80.1%. The right and left elbows have an average functional lateral symmetry with 75% right elbow and 78.1% left elbow. Keywords: tensiomyograf, artistic gymnastics, physiology, lateral symmetry
The level of equilibrium sporting abilities of gymnasts in younger school age compared to physically inactive population
Šedivá, Andrea ; Satrapová, Lenka (advisor) ; Stupková, Michaela (referee)
Title: The level of equilibrium sporting abilities of gymnasts in younger school age compared to physically inactive population. Purpose: The purpose of this diploma paper is to compare the level of equilibrium ability of younger school age sport gymnasts (i. e. of the age of 8-10 years old) to the girls at the same age, who are not taking part in sports. This level of abilities is compared based on simple static and dynamic equilibrium tests. Furthermore I would like to find out if the level of equilibrium capability influences the final place they get on gymnastic competitions. Methods: This research was made based on the group of 15 female sport gymnasts and 15 girls who are not doing sports (all of them at the age of 8-10 years old). We tasted equilibrium abilities of each testee using simple tests showing the level of static and dynamic balance. In particular we used standing stork test, blind standing stork test, standing on one leg after turning (to evaluate static balance) and blind back and forth walking (to evaluate dynamic balance). Based on measured output we set a point scale from 1 to 5 (according to the tests) to compare results. The comparison was done also using the average score of measured values. Results: After evaluotion of all measured data it is clear that the group of sports...

Lipšanová, Tereza ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Krištofič, Jaroslav (referee)
Title: Diagnosis of muscle imbalances using TMG in women's artistic gymnastics. Objectives: The main goal of this bachelor thesis was to diagnose functional muscular tension measured by the tensiomyograph TMG100. We especially focused on biceps brachii, triceps brachii, and deltoid muscles. 5 girls from one of the best Prague's artistic gymnastics clubs participated in this study. All the participants had the same training time and the same training plan. Methods: This bachelor thesis is a case study. The research is done qualitatively, by mapping a small number of participants. The actual measurements on the tensiomyograph, the analysis of the results and the recommendations made thereon were performed on five selected individuals. Results: Based on our findings, we formulated two hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: As a result of training, the biceps brachii is shortened on the dominant side and the contralateral side is weakened. Hypothesis 2: As a result of training, the triceps brachii is shortened on the contralateral side. Key words: artistic gymnastics, tensiomyograph, diagnostics of muscle imbalances, muscles of upper limbs

Benetková, Hana ; Panská, Šárka (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
Title: Kinematic and kinetic analysis of artistic gymnastic jumps Objectives: The aim of my master thesis is execution of kinematic - kinetic analysis of jumps in artistic gymnastics, processing data, counting force moment, which does the rotation around ventrodorsal axis, means abduction and adduction motion and recount normalized moment (moment share by body weight). Methods: The kinematic - kinetic analysis of jumps in artistic gymnastics was done by using systems Qualysis Motion Capture System and Kistler. Results: We have been researching four different gymnastic jumps in this study. Four healthy individuals underwent the measurement. They have done each jump in free valid times. There was measured abduction moment of knee joint in each jump. Adduction moments were present only in 32 % cases and lot of them hasn't significant value. There was measured abduction moment in bounces in each jump, value of standardized adduction moment wasn't signifiant. There was measured just abduction moments in dismounts of non-rotational jumps. In dismounts of rotational jumps (around longitudinal axes) was measured abduction and also adduction moment. Values of normalized abduction moments were between 0,3 - 11 m2 .s-2 . Values of normalized adduction moments were between 0 - 10 m2 .s-2 . Highest values of...

Duba, Jiří ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Chrudimský, Jan (referee)
Title: Adaptation of organism on training load in artistic gymnastics Objectives: The goal of this crosscutting study is to discover how the artistic gymnasts in prechool age and school age differ from other children in the same age category. Methods: The method of this study consisted of analysis of body composition of 82 boys in age 7,51 ±1,9. Kruskal Wallis test was used to test the hypothesis of conformity in the results of individual variables across test groups to compare differences among all groups. A Mann- Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction was used in post-hoc analysis. Results: Statistically significant differences between gymnasts and other participants were found in the percentage body fat. The school age with values (p ˂ 0,001), (r = 0,542) and the preschool age (p = 0,015), (r = 0,530). There were not statistically significant differences in the other measures. Conclusion: Surprisingly, gymnasts in both age groups did not differ very much in most categories. Statistically significant difference was between gymnasts and other in percentage body fat, where gymnasts had these values much lower across all categories. Keywords: adaptation, training, artistic gymnastics, preschool age, school age
