Effects of urbanization on the landscape of a Modern City in Ghana: A case study of sunyani
Boateng, K. A. ; Mensah, Caleb ; Agyei, Thomas ; Švik, Marian
Changes in land use through urbanization and agriculture are the key anthropogenic effects of climate change. Thus, the preservation of natural environment of urban areas is essential for conserving water and soil, while still adjusting the microclimatic variables (temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, etc.) and stabilizing the natural ecological system from destruction. It has been observed that most parts of city's green vegetation have been lost due to housing developments and commercial activities. This study was carried out to assess the effect of the change in land use on a modern city like Sunyani, by observing the significant changes in vegetation cover from LANDSAT TM imagery over a 31-year period (1986 – 2017). From the study, there was significant decline of vegetation cover from 1986 to 1999, and no significant change from 1999 to 2017. There were also significant changes in the built-up areas from 1986 to 1999 and no significant change from 1999 to 2017. Adoption of sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies that maintain open green vegetation is recommended for future city planning.
On the assessment of urbanization application in weather forecasting model
Nováková, Tereza ; Halenka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Žák, Michal (referee)
Built-up areas represent an artifiial impait to natural environment with large spatial variability and speiifi meihaniit radiationt thermal and ihemiial properties. Despite of inireasing horizontal resolution of numeriial weather prediition modelst the impait of loial built-up area on mesosynoptiv weather phenomena is still not well resolved. Therefore it is neiessary to use some of urban environment modelst whiih were designed to parameterize speiifi urban prosiessest not expliiitly resolved inside the grid box. In the thesis main urban iharaiteristiis are explained (impait on the struiture of boundary layert radiation and heat balanie of urban environment or urban heat island)t basii priniiples of urbanization appliiation in the numeriial weather model are desiribedt as well as different urban parameterizations available in numeriial model WRFe (Weather Reseaih and Feoreiasting). Number of validation experiments were performed for summer and winter episode in non-hydrostatii mode at 3t3 km resolutiont where different urban parametrizationst antropogenii heat adjustment and impait of mosaii land-use were tested. April 2018 Prague weather foreiast was verifiated in ionsideration of urban heat island.

When the wolves are gone
Preininger, Petr ; Fránek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
583/5000 The city grows extensively - it creates rings around it. As a result, it leads to the formation of urban sprawl in the scale of entire cities. There is a density paradox - while the city is growing, its population density is decreasing. Due to a chronic lack of intensity (which evokes a feeling of "normal") occurs at the slightest hint hallucinations. Normality becomes a powerful drug. A typical plan must reflect all the needs of Homo Civitatis. They must transform from open space offices to its original intent. In a regular interval duplication typical plan discontinued and replaced with public space.
Výstavba železničních tratí na území Kraje Vysočina a její vliv na rozvoj území
KUDLÁČEK, David
The following thesis deals with the subject of the construction of the railway in the Vysočina region and its subsequent impact on the development of the area. In the introduction to the theoretical part, the development of rail transport from its beginnings to the present isdescribed. Explained here is the concept of accessibility and subsequently the various elements affecting road accessibility are discussed. Following that, still in the theoretical part, the further development of the spatial structure of settlement systems is described. A three-stage period model was chosen showing development divided into three categories: a pre-industrial city, an industrial city and a post-industrial city. At the conclusion of the theoretical part is the hypothesis of this thesis. The methodological section describes the methods used for the production of the graphs, tables and maps that were used to substantiate research results. Subsequently, the database work, including its limitations, is described. The first section of the analytical part deals with the comparison of the historical development of population in individual regions. This is followed by research into the reasons for this development and a further analysis as to whether the cause could be the introduction of railways in the Vysočina region. The second section of the analytical part deals with the influence that the varying distances from the railway network of different municipalities in the Vysočina region had on their population development. As a determining parameter, a base index was chosen. One of the aims of this thesis was to describe the creation and urban development of the land - use town of Havlíčkův Brod. This site was chosen as a typical example of an industrial town which has evolved as a result of the introduction of a railway to the town.

For last two centuries many changes has been passing through czech countryside. This features are different from region to region and we can see its results on settlement, landscape or society transformation. The paper is mapping ths features on countryside settlement in east part of hte Czech republic. This region was colonized as last part of the Czech republic and it has a lot of specifics. That´s why there are specific settlement structure and landscape using which are destroyed by large industrialization and urbanization. The suburbanization process, its development and specific impacts on municipality Zeleneč
Hášová, Kateřina ; Kouřilová, Jana (advisor) ; Kolaříková, Jana (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of suburbanization and its affects to municipality Zeleneč. Zeleneč is a village located in a district Praha-východ, in the outskirts of Prague. The theoretical part analyses the process of suburbanization in relation to other regional processes. It also brings to consideration historical development and common forms and methods of measuring them. The work names and explains the causes and effects of suburbanization which differ in every country. The practical part applies theoretical knowledge to particular effects the processes have on Zeleneč, namely economics, school education, social and environment in regards in Zeleneč having recently faced an increasing number of new housing developments and consequently an increasing number of new residents.

Modern cities are under the pressure of big social and building development. The thesis is based on aspects of housing and living of society in 21th century cities. Now China has been an extreme example of rapid urbanization. It gives us an opportunity to gain knowledge about urban development. Based on the analysis of selected examples of urban housing the thesis shows the options for the future alternatives of living. The work was process during my academic internship at Southeast University in Nanjing, China.

Regional Identity and Symbolic Borders between "Us and Them": Case Study Hrdlovka's Demolition Effect on Osek Abstract The bachelors work focuses on the creation of regional identity and symbolic borders between "Us and Them" on the Osek city example, where 2000 people from the Hrdlovka village moved in. Hrdlovka was demolished for brown coal mining purposes. The approach of my work was to find out what factors are influencing the creation of an identity attached to a specific location based on which a symbolic "Us and them" border between the initial Osek and initial Hrdlovka inhabitants was formed. Further on I examined, if there is a relationship between regional identity and symbolic borders. The results of the quantitative research, which is mainly based on in-depth interviews, indicate that regional identity is being formed depending on the time spent in one place, city of origin, age of respondent, life and environmental conditions, collective awareness and relationship which identify ourselves in the given location. Symbolic borders arise only in situations where the location-attached regional identity is threatened. Symbolic borders of the inhabitants of both Hrdlovka and Osek raised from differences in their regional identity which means there is a direct relationship between them. The whole work...
