Anomaly Detection in IEC 61850 Communication
Pešková, Daniela ; Burgetová, Ivana (referee) ; Matoušek, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with anomaly detection in industrial communication IEC 61850. It studies using various statistical analysis methods and probabilistic automata for creating communication profiles and its accuracy while detecting anomalies.
Management of the energy transmission system polygon
Bohačík, Antonín ; Musil, Petr (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the creation of a control interface for a polygon simulating the electrical distribution network of the Czech Republic, where communication between substations is realized by IEC 60870-5-104 protocol. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the basic principles, properties and possibilities of communication standards IEC 60870 and IEC 61850. The next part is focused on the actual implementation and subsequent implementation of the control interface, including the implementation of the IEC 61850-80-1 module for data transfer between the mentioned standards. The last part describes the created behavior scenarios or the analysis of communication itself.
IED Simulator with a Support of Industrial Communication GOOSE
Ládr, Tomáš ; Lichtner, Ondrej (referee) ; Matoušek, Petr (advisor)
The goal of this bachelors thesis is to create simulator of IED working as publisher of the protocol IEC 61850-GOOSE. For achieving of this goal the library libIEC61850 has been used. During the work on this project an emulator of GOOSE publisher was implemented. There are experiments validating the emulated communication in the report. The merit of this thesis is creation of an open-source emulator for operating system Linux, because other existing solutions are commercial.
IEC 61850 industrial communication simulator
Srp, Jakub ; Pospíšil, Ondřej (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
This thesis is focused on IEC 61850 communication protocols SMV, GOOSE and MMS and their implementation in SCADA systems. There is a simulator, run on Raspberry Pi, that generates data according to IEC 61850 and transmits the data using protocols in question. The simulation consist of various virtual devices e.g. surge protection, undervoltage protection, circuit breaker, disconnector, HMI. The MMS protocol is used for station control. Simulation can be user-defined from textual configuration file.
Vulnerabilities assessment for industrial protocols
Zahradník, Jiří ; Fujdiak, Radek (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
Thesis deals with testing of selected vulnerabilities from the IEC 61850 standard and following design of mitigation measures for selected vulnerabilities. Author simulated vulnerabilities of the GOOSE protocol, NTP attack and attack ona MMS client. Those attacks were GOOSE stNum, GOOSE semantic, GOOSE test bit,GOOSE replay, GOOSE flood, NTP spoofing and MMS password capture. Attacks on protocols GOOSE and MMS were successful, attack on NTP was only partially successful since the device confirmed receiving spoofed time, however it did not change it’s inner clock. Author then designed possible mitigation measures. Tool for automatic testing of selected vulnerabilities, parser for the GOOSE protocol and lightweight multiplatform parser for configuration files were created as well. The outcome of this thesis allows the implementation of lager scale tool for penetration testing of industrial networks as well as it allows implementation of discussed mitigation measures.
Simulation of communication part of modern industrial networks
Beneš, Pavel ; Blažek, Petr (referee) ; Fujdiak, Radek (advisor)
The thesis is focused on simulating of protocols from standard IEC 61850 in simulation tool OMNeT++. The theoretical part in the thesis deals with description of the field of operating technologies, supervisory control and data acquisition and protocols Tase-2/ICCP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP 3 and DLMS/COSEM. Next part deals with parameters influencing connection and description of simulation tools NS2/NS3, OPNET and OMNeT++. In the practical part there is created a network containing protocols from the standard IEC 61850 in the simulation program OMNeT++. Then in the network a end to end delay and packet loss with increasing traffic is measured.
Generator for simulation of SCADA attacks
Hudec, Jan ; Fujdiak, Radek (referee) ; Blažek, Petr (advisor)
Output of this bachelor’s thesis is an attack generator aimed on IEC 61850 protocol using the libpcap library. Part of the output is also a simulation of devices which are normally present in SCADA systems. Theoretic part aims to explain protocols DNP3, IEC 60870 and IEC 61850 more in-depth and further focus is on the attacks. Practical part contains attack implementation that aim on communication between SCADA units, more precisely on GOOSE and Sampled Values frames. Simulated devices generate this communication using the libiec61850 library. Attacks are aimed on that communication.
Drivers in PLC TC700/Foxtrot for feeder protection REF630/REF615
Till, Přemysl ; Bradáč, Zdeněk (referee) ; Štohl, Radek (advisor)
This thesis deals with communication within industrial systems, specifically using standard IEC 61850. The theoretical part contains a list of useful resources detailing IEC 61850 and a brief summary of the data model and model of vertical communication defined by the standard. In the practical part, a library for vertical communication between a Tecomat Foxtrot or TC700 PLC and an IEC 61850 conforming device was designed and created. It provides function blocks for establishing a communication channel, reading and writing data using the standard. Its functionality was tested using a feeder protection and control REF630 from ABB.

Security assessment for industrial protocols
Priščák, Jaroslav ; Blažek, Petr (referee) ; Fujdiak, Radek (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on security verification of selected protocols used in ICS/SCADA systems. The theoretical part explains the basic principles of the division and management of SCADA systems. Consequently on their communication using protocols (MODBUS, DNP 3, IEC 60870-5-104 and IEC 61850) and their capabilities. In the next chapter, the thesis deals with the analysis of these protocols in terms of security and design methods for their verification. The selected protocols were DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-104, which deal with the work of next parts. Virtualized network, which was simulated using the selected communication protocol DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-104 was created. Subsequently, the security of the protocols was tested using the developed tools and the Kali Linux virtual machine. In the last chapter, the thesis deals with mitigation measures on these created attacks.
