Body image and contemporary society (Research on Gay consumers in the Czech republic)

The thesis focuses on body image - defines the main characteristics of this area, describes cultural influences and body image history and explains basic quantitative values (Body Mass Index, Waist Hip Ratio, Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis). Furthemore the thesis deals with media influence on body ideal formation process, especially in gay subculture. The research part explores recent situation of body image in gay subculture compared with heterosexual males. This section includes the content analysis of mainstream gay movies which compares media presentation of gays and the real situation and examines media influence on gay body image formation.

The development of credit transactions of building societies in the Czech Republic

The work concentrates on the development of credit transactions of building societies in the Czech Republic. At first, readers first get to know about the genesis of building savings industry and legislation. Then follows description of different kinds of credits: regular credits and bridging loans, including offers of building societies. The rest of the work deals with development of credits given of building societies in the Czech Republic. Time series analysis is used for identifying trends and on the basis of its results the author makes prediction of the near future in this branch. Confrontation of the model with reality and author's own evaluation closes the work.

A comparisin of the providing of mortgage at S & L and at mortgage banks in the Czech Republic

The goal of the submitted thesis ?A comparisin of the providing of mortgage at S & L and at mortgage banks in the Czech Republic? is to analyze the expediency of house-funding by building society account and mortgage credit. The theoretical part is focused on description of every single one house-funding type. It introduces history and present of these products and describe them more deeply. The next part is focused on analysis of the present day of house-funding and the basic criteria for loan granting are defined. Then the credit product supply of selected banks and building societies on Czech market is analyzed. In the practical part the whole issue is demonstrated on 2 complex examples. The advantages and disadvantages of these products were also compared in the last part of the work.

Using Projects to Motivate Students in Mathematics

This diploma thesis aims to show the possible use of project teaching in order to motivate pupils to study mathematics. The thesis is interspersed with author's self-reflections which came up during her study of motivation questions, project teaching and above all, the construction of projects. The content is divided into five parts. The first of them follows the author's motivation to write this thesis. Second chapter is theoretical; it is concerned with the psychological and didactical point of view on pupils' motivation to study. Third chapter deals with projects. In this chapter, a development of the project method is described, the basic notions are defined, the applicability of projects is analysed from the point of view of new approaches to motivate pupils and the project teaching is characterised as a specific educational theory. The fourth chapter contains a general description of planning and construction of projects in mathematics, an analysis of author's primary projects in comparison with her new knowledge and a new project creation detailed process. Fifth chapter gives information about the Czech education reforms, about the fundamental themes of RVP ZV (General educational programme for elementary school) and about the use of project teaching in school educational programmes. This project will make extending the range of products and services possible the company and it will help to improve its financial situation.

Life of minority groups in South Bohemian and South Moravian region

The thesis titled "The life of minorities in South Bohemian and South Moravian region" deals with problems of Romani minority groups and their education. Education and process of studying creates at present the key conditions for rising of the Romani ethnicity and their integration into society. In theoretical part is described the origin and dividing of Romani people and their historical connection in their progress in our country. There have been mentioned current problems concerning the Romani minority, as for example social exclusion, discrimination, etc. Other chapters refer to Romani culture, family and upbringing. The most substantial part of the thesis focuses on education and is lead in this direction. We also stated the current level of education among the Romani ethnicity. In the empirical part presents records of the research focused on education of Romani ethnicity in the secondary-studies area. Research was processed in the secondary analyses data system and the quantitative evaluation of questionnaire. The main aim of the thesis was to find out what kind of secondary schools pupils of Romani ethnicity prefer, whether they completed the education or finish it untimely. Whether pupils and students from the social disadvantaged background get help from assistant pedagogues for children during their studies. Furthermore we investigated if Romani students of grammar schools take advantage of grant from the state to study. The most preferred types of grammar schools among Romani were vocational schools. Only small amount of respondents chose vocational schools with the enclosure of finished leaving examination. Through that result had to be proved or disapproved the formulated hypothesis: Romani minority completes the secondary schools education. This hypothesise was disproved, as most of the Romani pupils did not complete their secondary school education. The thesis points out the factors which influence the Romani ethnicity attitude towards the education and the process of studying. Records of the thesis are beneficial for practice as the schools which were engaged in this research continue in cooperation with us. As a feedback we provided the records of this research to schools as they may use the information for better orientation what students expect from the education , how to approach it or the choice of study they prefer. At the same time the records of the research may be used as an informative and educational material for public and specialists.

Nosocomial infection occurrence in patients receiving mechanical ventilation

The thesis deals with the most frequent nosocomial infection in the intensive care, the ventilator-associated pneumonia. The main purpose of the thesis was to raise nurses? awareness of this hospital-associated infection. It concentrates particularly on possibilities of prevention from this infection. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a research part. As the ventilator-associated pneumonia occurs in connection with the mechanical ventilation the introduction to the theoretical chapter deals with the basic terms related to mechanical ventilation. It concentrates on the description of reasons for mechanical ventilation and the ways of its application by nurses during the care of patients receiving mechanical ventilation. The subsequent part deals with nosocomial infections, the factors conditioning the occurrence of nosocomial infections, nosocomial infections in the intensive care and the ways of prevention from these infections. The part following the introduction to mechanical ventilation and nosocomial infections deals with the nosocomial infection associated with continuous mechanical ventilation, the ventilator-associated pneumonia. It describes the disease pathogenesis, factors conditioning its occurrence, diagnostics, treatment and particularly the ways of prevention from this disease. The research part of this thesis contains the results of the quantitative research based on the data gathered by means of an anonymous questionnaire targeted at the nurses at the anesthesiology and resuscitation department and by subsequent monitoring of the nurses. The research also included monitoring the nurses at work. In order to complete the thesis five objectives were outlined and six hypotheses were constructed. The aim of the objectives was to investigate how the nurses care of a tracheostomy and the pulmonary toilet of respiratory tract in patients receiving mechanical ventilation, how they maintain the ventilator and its components. The investigation also concerned the nurses? awareness of the aseptic techniques during the treatment of the respiratory tract and the ventilator. The aim of the last objective was to investigate the ways of prevention from the occurrence of nosocomial infections in patients receiving mechanical ventilation at individual workplaces. Concurrently the following hypotheses were constructed: H1 ? nurses perform the tracheostomy under aseptic conditions; H2 ? nurses perform the pulmonary toilet under aseptic conditions; H3 ? nurses observe the aseptic techniques when maintaining the ventilator; H4 ? nurses are informed about the aseptic techniques during the care of tracheostomy; H5 ? nurses are informed about the aseptic techniques during pulmonary toilet; H6 ? nurses are informed about the ventilator maintenance. On the basis of the knowledge of the issue and the results of the research the output of the thesis was realized in the form of a nursing care standard aimed at the suction of the lower respiratory tract. The second output of this thesis is a poster with ways of prevention from the ventilator-associated pneumonia designed simply to motivate nurses to observe the preventive measures.

State Social Politics in the Context of the Social Politics of the Roman Catholic Church

Social politics - strong-willed state's, municipalites' and another subjects' activity which goal is improving the living conditions of people, implementation of human rights and development of each person. Social state - which is responsible for social and economic processes. Regarding strict liberal conception, those processes should be kept solely in competency of civil society and its market mechanism. This conception guarantees some social security for each member of the society, the active role of the state in providing social rights. Social security - the Czech legal order contains: health insurance, pension security, pension insurance, social care. State's welfare - represents a system of social benefits, where the state shares the costs of sustenance and the other basic children's and family's exigencies, this system is addressed, which means that some benefits depend on the income of the family. Encyclical - pope circular note addressed usually to the bishops, which contains consequential questions of faith and morality. It defines the social politics of the Church as well.

Activation Programs for Children and Youth as Prevention of Social Exclusion

This bachelor's thesis focuses on work with children and youth who come from a socially disadvantaged and culturally diverse environment within the scope of their leisure time with regards to their future employment within a society. Primarily, the thesis discusses a positive influence on socialization of children and youth by activation programs in the context of low-threshold-organized streetwork and social work. I am interested in this kind of problematics and I have been working as a volunteer in this social field. I draw on my personal experience, which is connected to a concrete locality. I build my bachelor's thesis on my personal conviction that activation programs aiming on target group of children and youth in the context of low-threshold-organized street work and social work might play a crucial role in prevention of social exclusion. Free hugs - Sociological interpretation

Bachelor thesis "Free Hugs - A sociological interpretation" gives an interpretation of the phenomenon called Free Hugs - offering hugs to strangers on the street. The basic question behind the early work was the following problem: What happens in a society, where people are willing to offer hugs to strangers in the street? What kind of pressure operates on people? What is causing this pressure? The goal of the work is to interpret the characteristics of modern society, which most importantly affect the atmosphere that makes ordinary people create their sign saying "Free Hugs" and go into the streets. The text is divided into three chapters. The first provides the first insight into the topic and a brief excursion into the short history of the phenomenon. The second, major chapter deals with the sociological interpretation of the original motivation leading to the emergence of the described phenomena - advanced level of individualization in modern society and economization and fragmentation of relationships, both in work and private spheres. The third part deals with the sociological interpretation of several phenomena, which caused a significant extension of the Free Hugs Campaign.
