The Germains from Hřebečsko in their native country and in Germany
Procházková, Jana ; Soukupová, Blanka (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee)
This master's thesis is concerned with the contemporary identity of the Czech German population in the German language island Hřebečsko (Schönhengstgau), the issue relevant to the agenda of Czech-German relations as well as nationalism. The concept of identity is defined as a three-dimensional phenomenon, which means: who I am, how I present myself, and how I am perceived by the others, or (if you like) who I am not, how I do not present myself, how I am not perceived by the others. The thesis particularly focuses on the question of the minority self-inclusion to the social context as viewed by 12 witnesses of the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia after WW2 (nowadays participating in Hřebečsko Patriotic Association), and also in the perspective of the Sudeten German regional literature and newspapers.
