Ageing of cotton fabric as determined from polymerization degree change
Flimelová, Miroslava ; Nasadil, Petr (referee) ; Kučerík, Jiří (advisor)
The degree of polymerization (DP) is the main factor which plays a role in cellulose aging. The adverse consequence of cellulose fibers aging is the deterioration of mechanical and optical properties. Viscometry is a technique which is frequently used for determination of degree of polymerization of cellulose fibers. The aim of the work was to determine the degree of polymerization of cotton fabrics and to investigate the dependence of DP on number of washing and dying. Next task was to investigate if there exists a corellation between DP and results from thermal and thermo-oxidative degradation studied by methods of thermal analysis. First, the traditional viscometry was employed to determine DP of cellulose fibers. It has been demonstrated that number of washing and dying decreases the DP. In the second part the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG) were used. DSC provided values of combustion heat and TG allowed the detail evaluation of degradation steps; obtained results were further used for correlation with DP. Methods of thermal analysis revealed differences between cotton wool and treated fabrics. Combustion heat did not show any correlation with DP. In contrast, results from TG suggested some promising correlations which could be used for the prediction of cotton fabrics DP using thermal analysis in the future.

Modelling of dynamics systems with multi degrees of freedom
Světnický, Tomáš ; Lošák, Petr (referee) ; Dušek, Daniel (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is to create a mathematical model of multi-degree-of-freedom vibrating system based on motion equations. The introduction describes the theoretical distribution of dynamic vibrating systems and their main characteristics. The next part deals with the analysis of assigned system and the motion equations are constructed by using Lagrange equations of the second kind. The process of system solving is provided together with equations which were used for obtaining the natural frequencies, eigenmodes and amplitudes of objects in time. The actual solution is carried out in MAPLE software; graphs of amplitude characteristics, phase characteristics and objects amplitude in time are constructed. Influence of parameters entering the calculation is discussed. At the end is verified the accuracy of the analytical solution by the finite element method in ANSYS software.

Analysis of education influence on the wage level in Czech Republic
Tománková, Martina ; Mirvald, Michal (advisor) ; Křítková, Soňa (referee)
The main objective of this thesis is to find out if and how education influence wage. Logical consideration and existing studies imply that there is a positive correlation in between achieved education and individual´s wage level. The studies, however, vary in size of influence and in the Czech Republic there are very few studies that deal with this topic. This master thesis is based on its own survey from which was obtained a total of 521 responses. The survey was conducted during the period of March to May 2015. Data were analysed and interval regression demonstrated positive correlation between achieved education and wage level. When reaching a bachelor´s degree, an individual´s wage increase on average by 8 % compared to individuals with secondary education with graduation. If an individual reaches master degree, his wage increases on average by 21.9 % compared to the wage of individual who achieved the secondary education with graduation. The analysis has also proven the existence of gender pay gap. According to the results, women in Czech Republic have lower wages by 21.3 % compared to men´s. The study also discusses the achievement of higher education for individuals older than 26 years. Regression analysis showed that obtaining bachelor education for this group has higher yield (14.4 %) than in the analysis of the whole data set. Conversely, obtaining master degree has for this group lower profitability (17.3 %). Part of this thesis was also to calculate the return on investment in higher education. Using the method of internal rate of return, it was found out that the return on investment is 8.3 %.

STR genotyping of Czech medieval population: archeologocal site in Mlekojedy (Litoměřice)
Brynychová, Veronika ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Šimková, Halina (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis was the initial genetic analysis of early mediaeval burial site from Mlekojedy polycultural locality (Litoměřice District, Czech Republic). Autosomal STR markers were chosen because of the following reasons. The high degree of polymorphism of these markers and the high extent of heterozygosity favor the use of STRs instead of mitochondrial DNA for the structural analysis of small populations. Usefulness of STR typing for validation purposes was demonstrated many times before. We used primers for miniSTRs to obtain the fullest results. Nuclear DNA was extracted from 35 % of bone samples and 91 % of teeth. We detected lower PCR amplification success rate of fragments longer than 150 bp and very high rate of allele drop-out which is sign of degraded DNA. Twelve reliable genotypes were determined for TH01 marker. Observed allele frequency and genetic diversity values were discussed in comparison with recent populations and other aDNA studies of burial sites. Keywords: ancient DNA, STR markers, miniSTR, early medieval burial site, Czech population

Prevention of social aspects of an ilness
ŠAMÁNEK, Petr
The primary aim of this bachelor degree work was to investigate and describe the relationship between the number of injection sets distributed among drug addicts under needle exchange programmes and type B and type C hepatitis incidence rates, based on available information sources. The secondary aim was to evaluate the demand for exchange programme services. Described in the theoretical section are the basic themes relating to spread of infectious diseases among drug addicts. This section also deals with social aspects of drug addiction and drug abuse as a social aspect which may lead to the occurrence of other diseases. The practical section contains a secondary analysis of data obtained from quarterly annual reports that are published by the Drug Epidemiology Department of the Praque´s Hygiene Station and include the required nationwide information. The processed data are evaluated and the discovered facts are highlighted by graphic representation in this section of the work which begins with a table outlining all data used to obtain the results. The investigation focused on data from the recent five years (2005 {--} 2009) for South Bohemia and Ústecký Regions. The source of demographic data for these regions was the Czech Statistical Office. It was found that the hypothesis presuming a decline in the type B and type C hepatitis occurrence rates in relation to the number of injection sets distributed within exchange programmes was not confirmed. It was also found that the scope of distribution of injection sets became slightly reduced in one of the regions under survey (Ústecký Region) between 2008 and 2009 in spite of the increase in the nationwide distribution of injection sets. However, the overall tendency in the period under survey could still be described as increasing.

Foreign bank participation in transition economies: the effects on access to credit
Krafková, Anna ; Geršl, Adam (advisor) ; Marková, Katarína (referee)
The thesis discusses the topic of foreign bank participation in transition economies. First part presents theoretical considerations about foreign bank entry and their empirical support. The main focus is then on the empirical investigation of the possible relation between the degree of foreign bank participation and the availability of credit across transition countries. Combining responses from a survey of firms operating in 38 transition economies with data on the degree of foreign bank participation, we derived some interesting conclusions. The analysis suggests that conditions for obtaining credit seem to be better in economies having higher share of foreign banks within countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The opposite conclusion was derived for countries of Commonwealth of Independent States; there economies with higher foreign presence tend to perceive conditions of financing as more problematic. Moreover, it was shown that enterprise size, its ownership and sector within which operates also matter when drawing conclusions on the effects on foreign bank on the availability of credit. Additionally, we identified that the share of state-owned banks and the effectiveness of domestic banking sector are other determinants of credit accessibility.

Role of Behavioral Finance in Portfolio Investment Decisions: Evidence from India
Subash, Rahul ; Báťa, Karel (advisor) ; Jandík, Tomáš (referee)
I Role of Behavioral Finance in Portfolio Investment Decisions: Evidence from India Abstract Extreme volatility has plagued financial markets worldwide since the 2008 Global Crisis. Investor sentiment has been one of the key determinants of market movements. In this context, studying the role played by emotions like fear, greed and anticipation, in shaping up investment decisions seemed important. Behavioral Finance is an evolving field that studies how psychological factors affect decision making under uncertainty. This thesis seeks to find the influence of certain identified behavioral finance concepts (or biases), namely, Overconfidence, Representativeness, Herding, Anchoring, Cognitive Dissonance, Regret Aversion, Gamblers' Fallacy, Mental Accounting, and Hindsight Bias, on the decision making process of individual investors in the Indian Stock Market. Primary data for analysis was gathered by distributing a structured questionnaire among investors who were categorized as (i) young, and (ii) experienced. Results obtained by analyzing a sample of 92 respondents, out of which 53 admitted to having suffered a loss of at least 30% because of the crisis, revealed that the degree of exposure to the biases separated the behavioral pattern of young and experienced investors. Gamblers' Fallacy, Anchoring and...

Kaňoková, Jana ; Trejtnar, František (advisor) ; Pávek, Petr (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology Student: Jana Kaňoková Supervisor: Doc. PharmDr. František Trejtnar, CSc. Title of diploma thesis: Study on renal transport of radiopharmaceuticals Radiolabelled receptor-specific peptides from the group of gastrin and bombesin derivatives are currently intensively researched substances in terms of targeting certain tumors. The main limit in their application is the intense renal accumulation and subsequent radiotoxicity. The aim of this experimental study was to determine and then compare the renal uptake of DOTA-bombesin and one of the gastrin derivatives - DOTA-sargastrin labeled with indium-111 and lutetium-177. Moreover, the other goal of this study was to assess the potential role of megalin system in the active endocytosis in the renal accumulation of these substances. Isolated rat kidney cells obtained by the collagenase perfusion method were used as an experimental model. The uptake of studied radiopeptides was further compared with the degree of accumulation of selected comparators with different renal accumulation (99m Tc- DTPA, 99m Tc-MAG3). The results of accumulation studies showed that the accumulation of the labeled derivatives of DOTA-sargastrin in rat kidney cells was...

Pokorná, Michaela ; Kestřánek, Jan (referee) ; Jílek, Petr (advisor)
1. Summary This thesis examines the impact of life contentment, general attitude towards life, and stress on recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVK) which is considered to be one of the most common vaginal infections. It is widely stated that approximately 75% of women suffer from vulvovaginal candidiasis at least once in a lifetime. The recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis is defined as three, respectively four or more attacks of the vulvovaginal candidiasis within one year. Background: The aim of this thesis is to verify whether stress is one of RVVC initiating agents and whether method used of collecting data in homogenous cohort is usable for more heterogeneous and bigger group of women. Methods: Data from woman patients have been obtained through specifically designed questionnaires with one part comprising a set of questions aimed at life contentment and a degree of stress vulnerability. These questionnaires have been completed by 329 women, a return ratio of 82.7%). Data were statistically analysed by means of Student's t-test. Results: The findings reveal that the patients' contentment belonging to the RVVK category compared with a control group proves lower, in some areas showing even significant statistical disproportion. The most apparent discrepancy has been discovered in terms of contentment...
