Thorium accumulation and study of stress responces of plants on thorium presence
Kufner, Daniel ; Soudek, Petr (advisor) ; Petrová, Šárka (referee)
The ability of the accumulation of thorium and study of the stress responses on his presence was tested on a selected cultivar of tobacco, La Burley 21. Plants were cultivated in Hoagland's hydroponic medium under artificial light. Except to the ability of accumulation and distribution of thorium in the all parts of plant was investigated the effect of selected organic and inorganic additions on accumulation. Among organic substances included citric acid, tartaric and oxalic acid in their presence was observed the increase of thorium in all parts of the plant. Were also tested products from the diamine and polyamines (putrescine, cadaverine, spermine and spermidin). These substances, also known for their antioxidant activity in plants, had an impact on reducing the accumulation of thorium, especially in the root system of plants. The most important factor influencing the accumulation of thorium was the absence of phosphate ions in a hydroponic medium, which caused the rise of the concentration of thorium about several levels in all parts of the plants. The initial decrease of pH after additions of organic acids or addition of high concentrations of thorium and the gradual increase of pH during cultivation had proved significant. It was also compared the uptake of accumulation and distribution of...
Investigation of nano zero-valent iron and zinc interactions with plants in the hydroponics
Švengrová, Denisa ; Vítková, Martina (advisor) ; Petr, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron (nZVI) application for the chemically assisted phytostabilization of zinc (Zn) in order to decrease mobility of this element in the environment. The interactions of nZVI and Zn have been investigated during the experiments using tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum L.), which were grown in a hydroponic solution. Furthermore, the effects of the interactions on the uptake of water, macronutrients and iron (Fe) have been assessed. The use of nZVI proved to be an effective solution for the stabilization of lower concentrations of Zn (100 micromol) in the root system or for purposes of the assisted phytoremediation. However, the impact of nZVI was not significant high concentrations of Zn (500 micromol). During the application of Zn at increased concentrations a decrease in water uptake has been observed, which can limit the macronutrient uptake. It is necessary to pay attention to further research and study the effects of the nanoparticles application and their interactions in the environment.
Fish production with usage of aquaponics
Tůmová, Veronika ; Kalous, Lukáš (advisor) ; Nechanská, Denisa (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with fish and plant production in aquaponic systems. It describes the principle of aquaponics, the interaction between individual system elements, use of technical equipment and technology. Thesis links the connection in different requirements of each ecosystem component in water quality parameters and nutrient intake. In the second half, it deals with fish and plant production strategies, plant and fish species suitable for aquaponics and with economics of the production. Thesis is focused on aquaponic systems as such in general with greater focus on the smaller one, hobby aquaponics.
Vliv deficitní výživy na růst, vývoj a aktivitu kořenového systému kukuřice seté (Zea mays, L.)
Nádvorníková, Marie
The aim of hydroponic cultivation experiment was the determination of the influence of deficient nutrition on the maize (Zea Mays, L.) growth and root system. The model crop was maize hybrid SY ONDINA. The experiment had six deficient variants (P, N, K, Ca, S, Mg) and variant with all nutritions (control variant). During the experiment were taking plants at an interval of 7 days. The dry matter of root and stem was weighed, the content of nutrition and the size of root system were set. The antagonism and synergism between elements were showed. The bigger reduction of root dry mass had plants with potassium and calcium deficiency. The plants with deficient (expecially deficiency of calcium, nitrogen, magnesium and potassium) had very restricted root structure. The lowest value of root electrical capacitancy had plants with potassium and calcium deficiency.
Sledování intenzity fotosyntézy u skleníkové kultury zeleniny
Konvičná, Petra
The literary part of the work approaches the plant material, cucumbers (Cucumis sativus L.), the issue of greenhouse production and growing in hydroponics. A large part is devoted to describing the process of photosynthesis and the different factors affecting the impact and progress of the process. The practical part is devoted to monitoring and measuring the physiological characteristics of the photosynthetic apparatus using LCpro +: the intensity of photosynthesis, transpiration levels, water efficiency, stomatal conductance with cucumbers. Outside the parameters of photosynthesis is also evaluated chlorophyll content using the device CCM200plus Chlorophyll Content Meter and the ability of plants to use sunlight, thus fluorescence. Flourescence was measured with a fluorometer OS30p + Chlorophyll. Based on the evaluation, it was found that all measured characteristics were influenced by physiological and health status and degree of leaf damage.
Vertical farms
Kesanová, Michaela
We perceive more intensively that forms of our settlement as well as our livelihood methods are functionally incompatible with the limited natural resources of planet Earth. The concept of vertical farms offers new insights into the possibilities for effective use of architecture creating a source of food in itself. It brings together the technology of cultivation without soil in a controlled environment of architecture. The greatest importance is in maximizing the surface using a vertical plane in the design of vertical farm, of which we are able to gather the harvest. Typologically, the most important element in the entity of vertical farm is a component of hydroponic cultivation. In terms of content there are two basic categories of vertical farms. Depending on the degree of food distribution, vertical farms can be attached to existing typologies or freestanding. Examination of a sample of projects shows three types of vertical farms, depending on the concentration of the various types of production and ancillary functions. The aim of the paper is to explore the special type of public buildings – vertical farms; to find suitable reference examples from all over the world by exploring the current state of surveyed problems; to choose the studied samples and those subjected to the chosen scientific method of exploration - evaluation of selected properties of studied samples by applying boundary conditions; to formulate recommendations / guidelines for the architectural design of vertical farms according to the results of the research. Architecture loses its meaning without the existence of people, and therefore should be interested in issues of food security. Effective utilization of the natural environment begins by managing our own existence and the environment that we create.
Design of Domestic System for Hydrophonic Cultivation of Plants
Novotný, Tomáš ; Chorý, Tomáš (referee) ; Rajlich, Jan (advisor)
Research in the field of hydroponics from the second half of 20th century and 21st century described how the components of hydroponic systems are related to each other and established a basis for construction and operation of complex and reliable systems of hydroponic agriculture. These systems are predominantly constructed as means for mass production in agriculture or are built by individuals to be used in their garden or greenhouse. The role of design in production of these devices is rather limited. The goal of this work is to introduce hydroponics as a complex system of many interconnected parameters and to assess hydroponic systems from the perspective of design. The objective is to design such a solution that would incorporate all the elements that make up a hydroponic system and design itself. This design ought to respect not only the need to provide a suitable environment for plant growth but also the need of efficiency, ergonomics and design.
Control unit for aeroponic growing system
Vrabec, Miroslav ; Dulík, Tomáš (referee) ; Klozar, Lukáš (advisor)
This thesis deals with the history of a method of plants cultivation without original substrate. The method is hydroponics and its subsequent development is called aeroponics. This work outlines the design of the whole aeroponic system including a control unit. The control unit has been designed to control the injection of nutrient solution, which is essential to the life of plants.Further, the control unit performs the control of lighting period, temperature, air flow and also regulation of nutrient solution pH. The control unit also keeps records of all data necessary for the monitoring process and for the evaluation of time differencies in the system.
