Výzkum v oblasti hydroponického pěstování rostlin druhé poloviny 20. století a 21. století popsal vztahy mezi jednotlivými složkami těchto systémů a poskytl pevný základ pro návrh a provozování komplexních a spolehlivých systémů hydroponického pěstování rostlin. Tyto systémy jsou nejčastěji konstruovány pro masovou zemědělskou produkci, nebo pro využítí na zahradě, či ve skleníku, rukami jednotlivce. Průnik designu do této kategorie zařízení je velmi omezený. Úlohou této práce je představit hydroponii jako komplexní systém navzájem provázaných parametrů, a proniknout do problematiky hydroponických systémů z pohledu designu. Cílem práce je navrhnout takové řešení, které v sobě skloubí všechny prvky tvořící systém hydroponického pěstování rostlin a design samotný. Toto řešení má respektovat nejen požadavky na poskytnutí hodného prostředí pro produkci rostlin, ale i požadavky energetické účinnosti, ergonomie a designu. Research in the field of hydroponics from the second half of 20th century and 21st century described how the components of hydroponic systems are related to each other and established a basis for construction and operation of complex and reliable systems of hydroponic agriculture. These systems are predominantly constructed as means for mass production in agriculture or are built by individuals to be used in their garden or greenhouse. The role of design in production of these devices is rather limited. The goal of this work is to introduce hydroponics as a complex system of many interconnected parameters and to assess hydroponic systems from the perspective of design. The objective is to design such a solution that would incorporate all the elements that make up a hydroponic system and design itself. This design ought to respect not only the need to provide a suitable environment for plant growth but also the need of efficiency, ergonomics and design.
