Title of master's thesis: The relation between backache and urinary incontinence Aims: The aim of the thesis is to find relations between various body structures. The main focus is on the analysis of the connections between backache and urinary incontinence depending on duration of backache, localization, backache promotion and sports activities. Methods: The survey was carried out by a four-page questionnaire. In total there was a group of 97 respondents, 79 women and 18 men, who had problems with backache, urinary incontinence or both. The age range of the respondents was from 18 up to 84 years. The questionnaires were distributed to specialized clinical centers in the fields of rehabilitation and physical medicine. The survey data was processed and analyzed by using the statistical program SPSS, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Results: The results indicate that there is a relation between backache and urinary incontinence. There is also a relation between promotion of pain in the lower extremities and urinary incontinence. Moreover, it has shown that more than half of the respondents had backache and urinary incontinence at the same time. However, the last two results have not been found statistically significant. According to the survey there is a proved influence of the...
Quality of life of patients with degenerative disease of the spine
Čermáková, Lenka ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Hrdličková, Renáta (referee)
The presenting project regarging 'Quality of life in patiens with degenerative disorders of the spine' is subdivided into two parts - first theoretical introduction, second the empirical part. Theoretical part consists of an anatomical and fysiological issues of the spine, description of the low back pain syndrome, degenerative disorders of the spine with it's symptomatology, diagnosis, treatment and nursing. In the empirical part I followed a cohort of patients. Each of the patient fulfilled a'Quality of life questionare' prior to spinal surgery and at least six months after spinal surgery, then the results were compared. The median age group was 60 yo, i.e. 44.12 % of all operated patients with degenerative spinal disorders. 41.18 % of the patients went to vocational school and 41.18 % were manual workers with physically demanding work. According to the results, quality of life after spinal surgery was overall improved, low back pain lessened and patients reduced using pain killers. There was s signifiant improvement in daily acivities and patients subjectively felt theirselves in better health condition.

Végsöová, Petra ; Lopot, František (advisor) ; Jelen, Karel (referee)
Title: Analysis of plantar pressures distribution at patients after microdiscectomy L5/S1 Author: Petra Végsöová Objective: The topic of the thesis is to analyze distribution of plantar pressure at "broken" and "healthy" foot. The work is based on comparison of plantar pressure distribution on "broken and healthy" footprint in static position before and after intensive daily rehabilitation. Method of solution: Twelve 40-65 years-old individuals were chosen for the study. They were treated for L5/S1 microdiscectomy and rehabilitated daily at Rehabilitation clinic Malvazinky in Prague. This group of individuals was examined in two ways; by a physiotherapist, who analysed their state of health using kinesiology analysis, and by Plantograph V07, which is used for examination of state of pressure between sole of foot and miniature pressure sensors shaped in a grid. Three weeks of rehabilitation was ended by the same ways of examination used at the beginning of therapy. The results were processed and compared by a computer. Key words: back pain, radicular syndrome, microdiscectomy, radicular pain, analysis of plantar pressures, plantograph
Experiences of health workers with acupressure
ROUBÍČKOVÁ, Radka
The abstract of the diploma thesis is focused on the acupressure and its influence of backache of medical staff. We chose the theme of acupressure because it is a non-invasive treatment method which can be practiced by everyone in the comfort of the home and no aid is necessary to have, just the basic knowledge and training how to perform acupressure. Acupressure is not physically or time consuming and that is why it is considered as a suitable means as an additional treatment of pain and other health disorders. It can improve nursing care. The theoretical part deals with pain and pain of medical staff who are the highest risk group of backache in the lumbar region. The backache is the most frequent cause of incapacity for work. Furthermore, in the theoretical part we deal with acupressure, one of the methods of alternative medicine. For the processing of the theoretical part, we used the available foreign and Czech literary sources. The empirical part of the diploma thesis is a quantitative method. The results obtained from the research were processed in the overview tables and case reports. For the thesis we set two research objectives. The first objective was to find out the experience of medical staff with acupressure. The second objective was to verify the influence of the techniques of acupressure for backache of medical staff. On the basis of the aim two hypotheses were created. The first hypothesis should show whether the backache will be softened by application of the acupressure techniques. The second one shows whether there is the difference in approach of nurses and doctors to perform acupressure.
Dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles and tailbone in relation to the functional disorders of other segments of the spine
KOMÁRKOVÁ, Kateřina
This bachelor thesis is concerned with what influence a pelvic floor muscular dysfunction has on the coccyx as well as on other spine segments and also on the posture as such. In principle, this represents a shortening of the muscles attached to the coccyx, which causes a broad scale of problems, which are usually confined to other parts of the body. Back pain is a common problem in today's population. It is an impediment to normal life and causes such pain that it often leads people to an addiction to analgesics, be it in the form of drugs or sprays. Thus the treatment only addresses the symptoms and not the real cause, wherefore it lacks long-term effectiveness. The movement apparatus is greatly influenced by the current lifestyle. Very often, over long time, people only get very little movement, while, at times, they put their bodies under extreme load with negative health effects. Due to sedentary work, an inactivation takes place, of the musculature of the deep stabilizing system of the spine, an important part of which is, notably, also the pelvic floor, which supports the internal organs from bellow and plays an important role in the stabilization of the body center. Psyche and stress also play an important role in this problem. Especially in women with pelvic floor problems, the complaints are not confined to back pain, but they also appear in other areas, such as the stopping of the menstrual cycle or other menstrual irregularities, functional sterility, incontinence. If we respect the body as a whole, instead of focusing solely on the area afflicted with pain, we can improve the effectiveness of therapy and improve the living standard of a patient long-term. By relaxing the coccyx and pelvic floor musculature, in combination with the correct mode of breathing, the body is capable to rid itself of problems in higher segments of the spine. The main goal of this thesis is to find out to what extent it is possible to influence the dysfunction of the pelvic floor musculature and thus mitigate the problems in other spine segments. This is to be achieved, among other things, using exercise developed by Mojžíšová, which aims to complexly improve the dynamics of the entire spine and to strengthen muscular groups of the whole body. This bachelor thesis can be used as a source for clinical practicing physical therapists who are interested in the relationship between pelvic floor muscular dysfunction and other spine segments It can also be used as educational material for women suffering from this affliction.
Back pain prevention nurses.
BERANOVÁ, Kristýna
The thesis: Backache Prevention in General Nurses, examines whether general nurses practice backache occurrence prevention. The following goals were set for the quantitative research: Goal 1: To find out whether general nurses are sufficiently informed on backache prevention in performance of their job. Goal 2: To find out whether nurses have an opportunity to participate in preventive programmes focused on backache prevention in the organizations they work for. The following hypotheses were set: Hypothesis 1: Backache, as a symptom of overload is a frequent health problem among general nurses. Hypothesis 2: Nurses practice backache prevention. Hypothesis 3: Nurses regularly keep fit. Hypothesis 4: Nurses that attend seminars or training sessions aimed at backache prevention are sufficiently informed on these problems. Hypothesis 5: Organizations where nurses work provide them with some preventive programme aimed at backache prevention. The method of anonymous questionnaire focused on general nurses working in a hospital was used for confirmation of the hypotheses. After assessment of the quantitative research results we discovered, that the first hypothesis in the quantitative research was confirmed. Hypotheses 2 and 3 were not confirmed by the research. Hypothesis 4 was conformed, nevertheless not many nurses participate in seminars or courses aimed at this issue. Hypothesis 5 was confirmed with the comment that an employer should do more for health of nurses. The research has shown that general nurses are actually aware of how to prevent backache occurrence, however not many of them use that. Neither the employer contributes remarkably to prevention of the fact that healthcare is the profession where backache occurs most frequently of all. I am convinced that thorough training of new healthcare staff should be sufficient for remarkable reduction of backache occurrence. A brochure that will be the output of this thesis may serve this purpose, as well as continuous training by a qualified physiotherapist or a physician together with provision of an all-hospital seminar.
Verification of Special Exercises in the Physiotherapy Facilities in Jihlava
POLÁK, Ondřej
Back pain is one of the most common health problems in the world. The main focus of this thesis is specific exercises and treatment techniques to treat back pain. The first part describes the musculoskeletal system, muscle function, treatment techniques and exercises to treat back pain with the help of physiotherapy. Three physiotherapy and rehabilitation facilities in Jihlava, together with their clients with back pain, were chosen for this research. The main focus was the joint range mobility measurements, treating muscle dysbalances and providing clients specific exercises to stretch, to relax and improve their physical mobility in specific areas. The mobility measurements were done in two phases: during entrance and exit visits and the task was to identify how the specific exercises and treatment techniques relieve muscle dysbalances and back pain.

Physiotherapy for patients with Morbus Bechtěrev
KANTOROVÁ, Vanda
This Bachelor paper deals with physiotherapy given to patients suffering from the Bechterew's disease. The paper consists of a theoretical section and a practical section. The theoretical section describes the anatomical structures of axial skeleton, the biomechanics of spinal column, and it defines spondylarthritis generally. Moreover, the paper provides a detailed analysis of the Bechterew's disease (i.e. the ankylosing spondylitis), its examination, treatment and the application of physiotherapeutic procedures. The practical section depicts physiotherapy applied specifically to treat three randomly chosen patients of the Aurora Spa based in Třeboň, as the treatment was administered between 5 March and 9 April, 2010. The first objective pursued in the paper is the evaluation of some selected methods of physiotherapy used in treatment of the Bechterew's disease patients. In the second objective the paper tries to assess the effect that the methods could have on the disease prognosis. The paper relied on the methods of a qualitative survey, and the data were gathered using these techniques: anamnesis, interview, observation (kinesiologic analysis) and the secondary analysis of data. The paper can do the duty of study and instructional material for students, the lay public and for health-care professionals.
Measurement and evaluation force paraxial ray muscles in the area lumbar spine and muscles sinuses coeliac.\\
ŠEBESTA, Karel
The aim of the work was to measure and evaluate the strength of deep stabilizing system (DSS) in connection with correct body posture and, subsequently, to asses the efficiency of the existing known exercise of the lumbar spine area as well as drawing comparison to the exercise recently introduced by doc. PaedDr. Pavel Kolář. The research was carried out on two sample groups of sixth form boys attending elementary school. It was necessary in the first place to detect, test and document correct body posture and, above all, the functionality of the DSS in members of the respected groups. This was followed by six weeks of active exercise according to exercise programme focusing primarily on the lumber spine area. The control group of ten boys carried out exercises based mainly on general principles of correct exercise whereas the experimental group totalling the same number of boys did exercises of DSS and lumbar spine area according to doc. PaedDr. Pavel Kolář. A muscle dynamometer was used to objectify and check the DSM in lumbar spine area. The measuring was than documented, processed and evaluated by means of charts and graphs. The work also comprises an overview of basic principles of lumbar spine stability as well as a questionnaire designed to assess health and lifestyle.\\
