RNDr. Radomír Kužel, CSc. Abstract: The subject of presented work has been devoted to a structure of titanate nanotubes which were prepared by hydrothermal treatment of TiO2 powder in NaOH solution. Structure determination was done mainly with two complementary methods - X-ray diffraction and transmision elec- tron microscopy. A influence of structure by changing particle size and crystal structure of the initial powder TiO2 was studied as well. Three different mod- els of nanotube structure were build. These models were used for a calculation of powder X-ray diffraction pattern and they were compared to experiment pattern. Pattern Recognition in Temporal Data

This diploma work initially conduct research in the area of descriptions and analysis of time series. The thesis then proceed to introduce the problems of technical analysis of price charts as well as indicators, price patterns and method of Pure Price Action. The method Pure Price Action is demonstrated in this work in two practical examples of its application to real businesses with a view to discovering and analyzing price patterns, as well as analysis and prediction of future price and financial evolution. This analysis is an introduction to the processes of successful business, following on from this we discuss the theme of Pattern Recognition and the Instance Based Learning method. The practical aspect of this work is carried out with the aid of a MATLAB applied algorithm for the analysis of the price pattern Correction for sale and purchase in dynamic time segments, specifically in trading price graphs, like those used for commodities or stock trading. For the analysis of time series we use the Pure Price Action method. The Instance Based Learning method is used by the algorithm to recognize price patterns. The created algorithm is verified on real data of a 5 minute time series of the US Dow Jones price charts for the years 2006, 2007, 2008. The achieved accuracy is evaluated with the aid of Equity Curves.

Cluster studies in molecular beams

In the present work we study properties of clusters of small heteroatomic molecules with biological relevance by several experimental methods based on molecular beams. In the rst experiment structure and dynamics of size-selected charged pyrrole clusters have been studied by means of molecular beam scattering experiment. Small neutral P yn clusters were produced in Py/He expansions and larger mixed P ynArm clusters in Py/Ar expansions, and the scattering experiment with a secondary beam of He atoms was used to select the neutral clusters of dierent sizes. The complete size-selected fragmentation patterns for the neutral dimer to tetramer after an electron impact ionization at 70 eV from the measurements of the angular and velocity distributions at dierent fragment masses. In second experiment photolysis of size selected pyrrole, imidazole and pyrazole clusters has been investigated. Comparison with the photolysis of an isolated molecules and between studied systems has been made. Clusters were photolyzed at 243 and 193 nm and the kinetic energy distributions of the H-photofragments have been measured and analyzed. Finally the mass spectra of the fragments after multiphoton ionization have been measured. The signicant inuence of the cluster environment to the photolytic behavior was observed and discussed.

Hledání spojitosti - použití kvantitativní textové analýzy ke zhodnocení vlivu textu na výsledky grantových programů

Since software and hardware is well available for automated text analysis and since a large data that describes real projects submitted to grant program is opened up, there is a possibility to follow phenomena of behavioral economics and psycholinguistics which evidence particularities in textual descriptions may be statistically associated with a reader's behavior or with a reader's decision-taking, which, in this case, involves an influence on final allocation of grant funds. The thesis uses forenamed areas as a starting-point and also employs quantitative indicators from the field of forensic linguistics in order to perform a computer-aided quantitative text analysis. The main goal is to evaluate from correlation perspective, if there in real operational programmes were present any associable relationships between the quantitative features of a proposed project's textual description and the amount of grant allocated to a project. The thesis is divided into four chapters, where it introduces basis, describes analyzed data and used methods, comments on made analyses and found relations, and all the performed research is summarized and evaluated in the last chapter.

Structural Change in the Course of Economic Development

This thesis strives to identify patterns of structural change while using panel data from 38 countries and 9 economic sectors for the period from 1950 to 2005. Based on mutual correlations between individual countries, two different methods for identifying structural change patterns are designed. The first one assumes constant rate of structural change over time and uses the entire time spans provided in the dataset. Second selects for each economy only certain country-periods with significant structural transformation and looks for similarities in sequencing of these country-periods between individual countries. The classical agriculture-manufacturing pattern is dominant, but significant successful patterns mainly with growing financial and transportation sectors and falling personal and government services are also discovered. In order to provide more complex perspective, proximity maps are drawn with position of each country representing its development path relative to other economies. Lastly, relationship between structural change and economic growth is proven and further examined by listing several stylized facts about the structural transformation, which are evaluated using the provided data.

The wood plants in the mown meadow: the analysis of morphology, age, growth and surviving of woody plants on species-rich meadows in the White Carpathian. Bc. Thesis, in Czech.

This study deals with the presence of woody species in species-rich, savanna-like meadows (with scattered Quercus spp. trees) in National Nature Reserve of Čertoryje, Bílé Karpaty Mts., SE Czech Republic. The first part is a community-oriented study of variation of woody species composition on meadows with different land-use management (regularly mown, recultivated,abandoned etc.). Indirect ordination analysis (DCA) was used to relate woody species composition to land-use history (seven meadow types) and species composition of the surrounding vegetation. Further, attempts were made to explain the occurrence and survival of woody species by their life-history traits (root:shoot ratio, regeneration ability after mowing etc). The second part of the thesis tries to identify the most prominent climatic factors affecting the growth of two common oak species in Čertoryje (1) by establishing the mean relationships between tree ring residual chronology and climate through bootstrap moving correlation and response-function analysis, and (2) by distinguishing ``pointer years{\crqq}, which correspond to abrupt changes in growth pattern and reveal the tree-growth response to extreme climatic events, such as summer drought. Since the oaks are ring porous species with abrupt transition between earlywood and latewood, both parameters were measured and used to obtain subseasonal climatic information.

Influence of environmental variables on the shape of ultraviolet pattern in Gonepteryx rhamni

Many species are sensitive to a light in ultraviolet spectrum. Some species have surface patterns that reflect ultraviolet light. These markings have been observed in many animal taxa; butterflies (Lepidoptera) are no exception. UV-reflectance in butterflies has been primarily connected to sexual selection and in this respect it has been a subject of many studies. In my work I propose an alternative view to this phenomenon. The aim of my work is to reveal how a particular environmental factors influence the morphospace of UV- reflectant patterns and wing shape of the Gonepteryx rhamni (Pieridae). The effect of various environmental factors (latitude, longitude, altitude, mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, normalized difference vegetation index - NDVI or net primary productivity - NPP) on wing morphospace was tested using the methods of Geometric morphometrics. I have also studied shape variability among the males and females, specimens from different locations and differences in morphospace of several G. rhamni subspecies. The dataset used in this analysis includes 118 males and 67 females from the Palearctic ecozone. Correlation of cytokine gene polymorphisms and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid gene expression profiles in patients with interstitial lung diseases

Idiopathic pulmonay fibrosis (IPF), extrinsic alergic alveolitis (EAA) and sarcoidosis are interstitial lung diseases (ILD) of distinct pathogenesis. While IPF represents primarily fibrosing lung disorder of unknown etiology with dominant Th2 cytokine milieu, sarcoidosis is a systemic disease presenting with noncaseating granulomas and Th1 cytokine pattern. EAA develops after repeated exposure to inhalation antigens, and can present either with a granulomatous formation or progressive pulmonary fibrosis according to the stage of the disease and relationship between antigen exposure and immune system status. Th1/Th2 imbalance is dominant feature of these ILDs and we suppose that the susceptibility to them could be genetically encoded in cytokine gene polymorphisms. Cytokine gene polymorphisms could influence cytokine protein expression, which might lead to imbalance of Th1/Th2 immune reactions. Enhanced Th2 type cytokine production might induce the alternative activation of alveolar macrophages (AM), with consequent stimulation of colagen production by fibroblasts. the way from gene to protein leads through messenger RNA (mRNA) expression. Influence of occupation at head of household on housing standard

The aim of the bachelor paper is to explore in more detail the interdependence between the occupation of the head of household as the main gainful activity, and the housing standard in Slovak families in the years 2005 and 2006. In the practical part we compare the housing costs, total household income and the gross monthly salary of the person bearing the housing expenses, with the particular selected variables. The closing part of the paper contains a verbal summary of the observed patterns of interdependence which have been identified by selected statistical methods and graphs.
