Measuring excessive risk-taking in banking

In this paper writers propose a new approach to the assessment of excessive risktaking by a banking sector. They use the portfolio approach to assess the optimal risk-return combination of a bank’s portfolio, based on data for 32 categories of loans. It provides a benchmark for the optimality of the bank’s portfolio.

Comparison of services offered by banks to students in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis compares the bank accounts offered by banks to students. The diploma thesis also compares the offers overdraft, which are provided on student accounts. The analysis includes student´s accounts of the four largest Czech banks (Česká spořitelna, a. s., Komerční banka, a. s., Československá obchodní banka, a. s.,GE Money Bank, a. s.) two German banks (Deutsche Bank AG, Commerzbank AG) and two Slovak banks (Slovenská spořitelna, a. s., Tatra banka, a. s.).
Analysis of bank mortgage products in the Czech Republic

This thesis deals with the analysis of bank mortgage lending in the Czech Republic. The basis of this analysis is a theoretical setting out the specifics of mortgage loans and analysis of all parts of the credit process. Subsequently, following the same principle, are analyzed specific mortgage products of a selected commercial banks. The thesis examines a course of the credit process for each client's products, their characteristics and conditions placed on the client. The thesis also deals with the analysis of interest rate and volume of mortgages in the context of changes in market interest rates and credit volumes in the economy.
Comparative analysis of positions of banks and cooperative credit union in the banking sector in the Czech Republic

This thesis compares banks and cooperative credit unions within Czech Republic from different points of view. Specifically, these points of view are history, legal frame and also the position on current Czech market. Depiction of the historic development of Czech banks and cooperative credit unions describes their position on the market across different time periods together with summary of changes in legislation and capital market supervision. Legal frame chapter describes separate points of legislation, based on which it is possible to compare both banks and cooperative credit unions. These points for comparison are creation, liquidation, information duties towards Czech national bank etc. The whole second part of the thesis deals with a comparison of both sectors with following comparison of particular representatives of selected sectors from different points of view. These are competitiveness on the market, capital adequacy and other indicators.
Mortgage lending in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis is primarily focused on mortgage lending in the Czech Republic. The mortgage is defined in the first part of the thesis, his division into purpose and nonpurpose types. Furthermore, I am dealing with a process of selection and providing of the loan along with his amortization. An analysis of the state support follows in both forms, in a direct form of contribution to interests and in an indirect form of tax deduction. The second part of the thesis describes the mortgage market. It contains a description of a mortage-life insurance combination, which is disappearing from the market. The conclusion analyzes and compares mortgages of single banks according to fees, market shares, and net payments paid by clients.
Analysis of economic development of privatized banks in the Czech Republic in the period 1992-2010

The aim of the thesis is the analysis of economic development of banks, which were subject of the privatization process in the Czech Republic, mainly in pre- and post-privatization period. Based on this analysis, there should be identified factors which enabled to reach good economic results in close time interval after the sale of banks. Economic development of banks after the process of privatization proves the fact that their economic condition was not as bad as was presented before their sale. The research of bank development enables to check how was their real economic situation. Theoretic part of the thesis will deal with general characteristics of banking, theoretic approaches to the central banking and theories of free banking. Then there will be described basic columns of the economy transformation, among which belong changes of owner's laws, liberalization or stabilization. The target of the practical part is the analysis of economic bank development in the period 1992 -- 2010 where is considered Komerční banka, Česká spořitelna, Československá obchodní banka, Investiční a poštovní banka and Živnostenská banka. Method of the research will be the analysis of basic economic parameters describing economic bank development. The banks will be analysed in pre- and post-privatization phases.
Large banking groups

The study is mapping various aspects of the present financial system phenomenon - large international financial and banking groups. It shows how the international community tries to resolve a trilemma which is linked to the existence of the large financial groups. The proposed measures on the global as well as on the European Union levels are assessed. The most efficient ones are those aimed in scaling down of these institutions and in a divestment of their activities as they conditioned the provision of the state aid. The study also evaluates proposals to raise capital adequacy and resolution of the large institutions. It mentions their possible negative impact on the banking sectors of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Analysis of savings accounts for individuals in the CR

The thesis is focused on the analysis of the assessment options of available funds using more conservative instruments of the financial sector. They are mainly the savings accounts and the term deposits. In the first part, the status and the role of the banks and credit unions in the financial sector will be determined, including offered products and services. The following part then analyzes various products in terms of real return, the fees, other costs and additional services in detail. In the end, it was found that under current conditions it is possible for an increased acceptance of the risk to get the highest evaluation with Metropolitan credit union's savings account.
