The Women in the Unity of the Brethren

In my work I address the issue of women throughout the historical development of the Unity of the Brethren (also called Moravian Church). I look into the most common social roles women reached (a wife, a virgin); further I address the obligations, rights and general principles which guided their daily lives. The thesis is focused on a unique element of the Unity; namely the institution of matrons. I also discuss the issue of girls' education in the context of the work of J.A. Comenius (the last bishop of the Unity). In order to achieve greater plasticity and to make the topic more easily accessible, a description of the life of one particular Unity woman is included. Her name is Catherine of Ludanice, she was an important supporter of the Unity of the Brethren and the wife of a well-known nobleman Petr Vok of Rožmberk.

Medieval guardianship and its importance for the present

Key words: Middle Ages, 13th century, guardianship, religious orders, the woman in the Middle Ages, St. Agnes of Bohemia, St. Zdislava of Lemberk, nun This bachelor's thesis deals with the beginning of guardianship in the Czech lands in the 13th century, the standing of women in the Middle Ages and important women in the history of guardianship, above all Zdislava of Lemberk and Agnes of Bohemia. It maps their fates, work and legacy for the future. It also compares the life of both female saints with the way of life of a nun nowadays. In this context, the thesis also provides an overview of religious orders which devoted their work to charity and care for the ill in the 13th century. It tries to uncover the common and differing traits of medieval guardianship with the current concept of nursing care. The focal point of the thesis is made up of qualitative research, which uncovers the period problems in contrast with the present day. The benefit of this thesis should be to find differences and common traits in care for the ill at that time and today and the legacy left to us by the 13th century. It should also serve as a reminder of the wealth of history of the nursing profession and to increase the prestige and pride they themselves have in their career.

What happened or what made the first people, it is a far-reaching impact on all of their offspring. Women in the Czech photogram

My bachelor thesis is focused on mapping of the circle of women artists using
the photogram technique in the Czech environment. While the artists born on the beginning
of the last century (Emila Medková, Běla Kolářová, Eva Fuková) used this newly accepted
artistic technique only rarely, for the authors of the next generations ? Gabriela Kolčavová,
Ilona Staňková, Jolana Havelková and Jindra Viková ? the experiments on photogram basis
became the integral part of their work. Woman photographers and artists differ from their
male counterparts namely in their topics that are usually more poetic, fragile and intimate.
Very often they relate to their close family circle.
In the course of my work I had a few very inspiring and resourceful personal meetings
with the artists, or in the case of Emila Medková with the artist?s daughter Eva Kosáková.

Pain management in the first stage of labour

The Bachelor theses deals with a problem of managing of pain in the first period of delivery.It shows possibilities of non pharmacological methods of analgesia for delivery.The emphasize is in educated work of a midwife in process of taking advantage of non pharmacological methods for reducing pains. The empiric basis of the theses lies in evaluating survey through questionnaires which deal found out with the help of questionnaires FPO-III-CZ.The results of examinations I compared with statistical samples CSU and with experience which I obtained during the period of my practical training. It is known that age limit of first woman in labour is going up.They have an average fear from pain and prefer non pharmacological methods of analgesia.Some methods of dealing with labour pain were not offered them by medical staff. The surveyed sample comprises 100 women who gave birth in 3 eastern Bohemian maternity hospitals.

Expectations of women / clients from professional social counseling in their difficult life situation

The aim of the bachelor thesis called "Expectations of Female Clients of the Professional Social Counselling In Their Difficult Life Situation" is to cover what kind or form of help these clients expect.The thesis is devided into two large parts. The theoretical part comprises of four main chapters. The first chapter ís called "Counselling in Social Services", and specifies professional social counselling and connected topics, such as counselling relationship, professionality and personality of the counsellor, counselling dialogue and working with orders. The second chapter defines the term "Difficult Life Situation". The third chapter lists situations which can be seen as difficult in the life of a woman. Possible support and help within social work is outlined for each target group, too. The last chapter covers work of Counselling Center Eva, Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice. The research part is based on findings from this counselling center, where the respondents of the research are registered as clients. The practical part is based on realised qualitative research. Six respondents were questioned in semistructured interview in the qualitative research. The interviews were recorded, under the consent of the respondents, and transcriptions into written form were carried out subsequently. The written form was processed by open coding. Four categories connected to the research question were identified by the method of analysis. The categories are: Expected form of help, Expectations in relationship to the center, Expectations in relationship to the social workers, and Emotions connected to the process of counselling. Results of the research showed that within the professional social counselling, the respondents are interested in covering the topics of benefits, doles, financies and debt counselling, as well as employment. It was further proved that it is important for the respondents to have assistance of the social workers when making phone calls and dealing with documents. Apart from social counselling, the respondents also expect material help. Very important aid, which is higly appreciated and expected for the future, appears to be the services of Voluntary Center of Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice. The second identified category Expectations in relationship to the center showed that the respondents see the center as a Lighthouse and Sanctuary. For them, the counselling center is a place where they hope to find assurance, stability, confidence and unconditional acceptance. What came out as interesting is that four respondents reflected the change of social workers within the center. This change caused confusion to two of the respondents. The third important identified category, which also brings evidence about expectations of female clients, is Expectations in relationship to the social workers. Different roles and forms of help are expected from the social workers. Among the roles defined belong Professional advisor, Mediator, Investigator, Initiator, Close person, Filter of emotions, Human being, and also social worker as a Strange person, which has not always been percieved as positive, as this is connected to declaration of the client as fit to work and her own responsibility. The last additional category is Emotions connected to the counselling process. All the respondents expressed satisfaction, gratitude and appreciation of the work of the center. This category therefore shows that the respondents are satisfied with the help, the social workers, and the work of the center in all cases, and that the work of the social workers is evaluated positively. The results can serve not only as feedback for the head office and all the workers of the Counselling Center Eva, Diocesan Charity in České Budějovice, but for other organisations with similar scope of activities. The results also bring recommendations which could be used by the social workers in their future counselling relationships.

Lactation Consultancy within Home Health

Annotatin The bachelor thesis deals with significance of nursing woman support and its influence on managing all problems during nursing and also on the total length of nursing a child. Theoretical part is aimed on specific support, provided by a lactation consultant, and it emphasizes advantages of providing lactation consultancy within home health care. Research part of the thesis is focused on recognition of managing specific problems during nursing after seeking help of a lactation consultant, and on general evaluation of this kind of care in Hradec Králové. This research was proceeded among clients of Site of Nursing Care in Hradec Králové.

The development of the picture of the heroine in French novels of the XIIth and XIIIth centuries

The main theme of medieval novels such as Tristan, Cligs, Yvain, Lancelot, Jaufre and Flamenca is called fine amor, a pure love that represents the ideal of the love relation between the lady and her knight, both of aristocratic origins. Heroines such as Iseut, Fénice, Laudine, Guenivre, Brunissen and Flamenca represent women for whom love is the fundamental value even if each one of them have their own way to live it. The Lady s character is not only influenced by the Celtic mythology, but also by the following of the Virgin Mary which developed during the 12th Century alongside the Courtly love. Neverthless, there is no need to identify fine amor with the mystic love, because it represents, as well as Lady, the ideal of the Knighthood and not one of the Clergy. Iseut is torn between her husband and her lover, between her social obligations as a queen and the demands of her heart. She lives in conflict with society and with her own conscience. Her fault is diminished by the fact that her love for Tristan is ignited by a magic beverage they drink together on the sea (without knowing it is a magic drink), although this doesn't make her entirely innocent. Much like Eve, Iseut is a sinner that symbolizes the 12th century woman. Her character is further enhanced by the presence of Brangien, her maid, and...
