Author: Tereza Šťastná Title: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after liver transplantation Aims: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to process theoretical knowledge about liver, liver transplantation and to perform a case report of a patient who underwent transplantation. Methods: This thesis is created on the basis of continuous monthly practise at the Institute of clinical and experimental medicine at the department of KARIP, which took place in the period from 6th to 31st January 2020. Thesis is divited on theoretical and practical part. In theoretical part are compiled informations about anatomy and physiology of liver, than about liver diseases and liver transplantation. In the end of this part are informations about physiotherapic care after liver transplantation. Practical part conteins case study of physiotherapy treatment of patient after liver transplantation and daily records of individual therapies. The bachelor thesis is written from the point of view of a physiotherapist. Results: The patient was in coma almost whole time of therapies, that fact greatly affects their process. The greatest success was increase of muscle strength and deepening of tidal volume during therapies. In the last days of practice, the patient's health deteriorated rapidly and unfortunately...

Sosnovcová, Veronika ; Vomáčková, Helena (advisor) ; Charvát, Robert (referee)
Author: Veronika Sosnovcová Title: The case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient after liver transplantation Objectives: The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to elaborate theoretical knowledge of liver transplantation and to introduce the case study of physiotherapeutic treatment of the patient who has undergone a liver transplant. Methods: The bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The first part is the theoretical part, which summarizes basic information about anatomy, physiology and patology of the liver. The next chapter is about one of the main treatment options in advanced liver disease, what is the liver transplantation. Physiotherapeutic procedures that can improve patient's condition are mentioned in the last chapter of the theoretical part. The special part describes the case study of the patient after liver transplantation. It also includes the record of individual therapies, which was applied during the practice in IKEM in January 2020. Results: The patient improved after the therapies. The most important progress was that patient could walk unassisted along the corridor and even up and down the stairs. The patient became completely independent and was discharged home. Keywords: liver, transplantation, cirrhosis of the liver, physiotherapy
Deep-learning-based pattern detection in medical images
Koščová, Zuzana ; Vičar, Tomáš (referee) ; Jakubíček, Roman (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis deals with Deep-learning-based pattern detection in medical images. For better understanding of a subject artificial neural network and convolutional neural network (CNN) are described at first. Next chapter is focused on specific detection methods which use CNN. Within a bachelor thesis a dataset of abdominal CT a MRI scans was created. Faster R-CNN and YOLO algorithms were trained and tested on acquired scans for liver detection. Implementation of chosen methods took place in Python programming language using the Pytorch library. Finally, detection results and possible use in medicine are discussed.
Use the Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasoun in the Morning of the Effect of Liver Tumors Treatment by Radiofrequency ablation
Korčáková, Eva ; Mírka, Hynek (advisor) ; Mechl, Marek (referee) ; Čtvrtlík, Filip (referee)
Use the contrast-enhanced ultrasound in the monitoring of the effect of liver tumors treatment by radiofrequency ablation. Summary High quality imaging is crucial for the treatment of liver tumors by the percutaneous radiofrequency ablation. Imaging methods are used for planning, navigation of the intervention and monitoring after treatment. An early detection of residual tumor tissue or recurrence affect significantly the quality of life and life expectancy of the patients. Contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) seems to be a suitable method for monitoring the locoregional treatment mainly because zero radiation impact on patient and allows the highly accurate real-time assessment of vascularization. The aim of my work was to verify the ability of CEUS to detect residual tumor tissue or tumor recurrence in the field of changes after radiofrequency ablation. We evaluated the group of 73 patients, who were treated by radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for liver cancer. CEUS reached in our group the overal sensitivity 77.27 %, and in the group of colorectal cancer metastases 83.33 %. We compared CEUS with results of computed tomography (CT), which is the most commonly used method for monitoring the treatment. CEUS and CT results are similar. Based on this study, the CEUS appears to be a suitable method for monitoring...
The role of lipids in the pathogenesis of liver diseases.
Šmíd, Václav ; Muchová, Lucie (advisor) ; Rumlová, Michaela (referee) ; Mičuda, Stanislav (referee)
1 Abstract In this thesis I have focused on the role of lipids in the pathogenesis of liver diseases, specifically on cholestasis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The first major aim was to clarify the changes in liver ganglioside metabolism in various types of cholestasis and to elucidate the role of heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX1) and associated oxidative stress. The second objective was to determine the effects of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA) administration on NAFLD development in a rodent dietary model of NAFLD and in patients with metabolic syndrome and NAFLD. Our results suggest that increased ganglioside biosynthesis and their re-distribution might represent a general protective mechanism of hepatocytes under cholestatic conditions (both estrogen-induced and obstructive aetiology). These changes are closely related to oxidative stress and might protect hepatocytes against deleterious effect of accumulated bile acids. The lack of HMOX1 activity and subsequent oxidative stress potentiate pathological changes in the liver and resulted in tissue-specific modulation of synthesis and re-distribution of gangliosides (in vivo and in vitro). Contrary to it, HMOX1 activation has an opposite effect and may represent a general hepatoprotective mechanism. We have proven that observed changes...
Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient after Liver Transplantation
Neuhortová, Kristýna ; Polák, Alois (advisor) ; Charvát, Robert (referee)
Title: Case of physiotherapy care of a patient after liver transplantation Aims: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the theoretical knowledge about liver transplantation and to introduce a possible example of physiotherapeutic care for a particular case report of a patient after liver transplantation. Methodology: The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and special. The theoretical part contains general knowledge of liver anatomy and physiology, problems of pathophysiology, transplantation and physiotherapeutic procedures and methods concerning liver transplantation. All information in the theoretical part was taken from the literature. A special part of this bachelor thesis was processed on the basis of continuous professional practice in the period 7. 1. 2019 - 1. 2. 2019 in IKEM Prague. It is processed as a case report of a certain patient. It contains input kinesiological analysis, recording of the course of therapies, kinesiological analysis and evaluation of the effect of therapy. Results: During the therapy, the patient experienced a shift in general health. At the beginning it was a patient with a qualitative impairment of consciousness without any cooperation on therapy, and with disgraceful time her condition was adjusted in such a way that she could...

First theoretical part contains anatomical and fyziologial description of liver and gallbladder, types of illnesses that affects these organs, the diagnostics of those illnesses and treatment. Second - special - part of this thesis is case report of the patient. Results: Due to serious condition of the patient was the main goal of the physioterapeutic care to keep the biggest possible condition and improve actual physical state of the patient after frequent revision operations. These goals were accomplished in the highest possible degree, after the termination of therapies, is the patient able to breath spontaneously, and partly able to self-help by...
