STRATEGY RENEWAL AND REVITALIZATION OF THE JEWISH QUARTER IN TŘEBÍČ
Teplíčková, Jana ; Zíka, Vratislav (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The main subject matter of this thesis is to design a renewal strategy and revitalization of the Jewish quarter in Třebíč. Even though it has recently been filed on a prestigeous list of UNESCO heritage sites and the town has seen significant effort in the direction of its renewal, this quarter still has some drawbacks. One of the problems observed is the inadequate technical condition of considerable number of buildings, while other is the insufficient usage of public areas. One can still notice the stigma of a socially excluded and a dangerous district. These traits are most evident in the immediate vicinity of the Subak’s factory. Main goal of this work is to coin an identity change of this site and transform it into an attractive and safe place, unique for its history and atmosphere – a quarter suitable for long-term residence as well as short-term visit. In achieving these goals, methods of tactical urbanism have been employed in the form of public space intervention and then a long-term visions are proposed in the form of the design of new functions at the site and a reconstruction of the formerly torn down historical buildings. A very important aspect of the proposed solution is the preservation of the historical urbanistic structure of the quarter and a respect for contemporary requirements laid on modern functions of a residential area at the same time.

Image Denoising
Jurák, Martin ; Svoboda, Pavel (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
Digital images are often corrupted by noise. Therefore, a lot of methods were designed for the purpose of denoising images. This paper describes and compares three of these methods: low-pass filters, bilateral filter and wavelet thresholding. Low-pass filters are linear filters applied on image by convolution. Their disadvantage is making images smooth. Bilateral filter is an extension of low-pass filters. It smooths images as well, however it preserves edges. Wavelet thresholding is a more complex method using wavelet transform for time-frequency representation of image whose coefficients are thresholded. The downside of this method is making artifacts in images. The PSNR and SSIM methods are used for measuring image quality.

Implementation of wavelet transform in C++
Valouch, Lukáš ; Hasmanda, Martin (referee) ; Beneš, Radek (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is implementation of wavelet transform algorithm for noise reduction. The noise reduction itself is focused on improving informative capabilities of sonographic (ultrasound) images in medicine. For this purpose, thresholding of detailed coefficients on individual levels of multiresolution analysis was used. Common procedures were not used for searching for the most suitable thresholds of those levels. The alternative concept's design is based on fundamental empirical approach, where the individual thresholds are optimised by evolution algorithms. However, with this algorithmic procedure, more problems manifest regarding the objective evaluation of the success of noise reduction. Because of this, the program uses commonly used parameters such as mean square error of the whole image, linear slope edge approximation, relative contrast of two differently bright and distinct points and the standard deviation of compact surface. Described theoretical knowledge is used in developed application DTWT. It executes multilevel decomposition and reversed reconstruction by discrete time wavelet transform, thresholding of detailed coefficients and final evaluation of performed noise reduction. The developed tool can be used separately to reduce noise. For our purposes, it has been modified in way, that it executed through the component for evolutionary optimization of parameters (Optimize Parameters) in created scenario in RapidMiner program. In the optimization process, this component used evaluation received from DTWT program as fitness function. Optimal thresholds were sought separately for three wavelet families - Daubeschies, Symmlets and Coiflets. The evolution algorithm chose soft threshold for all three wavelet families. In comparison to hard threshold, it is more suitable for noise reduction, but it has tendencies to blur the edges more. The devised method had in most cases greater evaluated success of noise reduction with wavelet transform with threshold search done by evolution algorithms, than commonly used filters. In visual comparison however the wavelet transform introduced some minor depreciating artefacts into the image. It is always about compromise between noise reduction and maximal preservation of image information. Objectively evaluating this dilemma is not easy and is always dependant on subjective viewpoint which in case of sonographic images is that of the attending physician.

Adjusting the intersection of roads I/11 x II/474 in Těrticku
Kortová, Anna ; Matuszková, Radka (referee) ; Smělý, Martin (advisor)
Thesis is focused on adjustment for crossing of roads I/11 and II/474 in Těrlicko with condition to preserve right off lane, which is part of motorcycle circuit. Purpose of this thesis is to increase lucidity, to decrease accident rate and to solve preservation of right off lane. Thesis was based on data acquired from actual measurements of intensity which were compiled into cartogram. Result of thesis is design which ensure safer connection of the road II/474 with no traffic fluency disruption to serviceroad. Design decreases dangerousness of solved section with transformation of crossroads geometric arrangement, which corresponds to assessment for capacity and for viewpoints areas.

The Magdeburg law in the towns of northwest Bohemia in pre-Hussite period
Mareš, Jan ; Žemlička, Josef (advisor) ; Bobková, Lenka (referee) ; Sulitková, Ludmila (referee)
The beginnings and propagation of the Magdeburg Law in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages are in the centre of attention of historical sciences since the second half of the 19th century. The period of great interest in this theme ends in the middle of the last cen tury and there i s a change in the direction of conservation of older knowledge. A detailed look on notorious development trends in connection with use of different types of sources can open new possibilities for efforts concerning deeper cognition of one of the most important components of the so called medieval transformation. The Magdeburg Law is a phenomenon transgressing borders of contemporary as well as medieval states in Centra!- and Eastern Europe, which is the reason to study it in the context of wider regions. Presented study incorporates three themes. The first chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the initial situation that existed in the thirteenth century in one of the most important cities of northwest Bohemia Litoměřice, the later head of a great family of cities of German town law. The starting point for an attempt to explore the Litoměřice law in the 13th century is a not preserved compilation of various legal regulations sent directly from Magdeburg to Litoměřice in 1282. This is a rare case in Czech lands, which could be...

Analysis of financial time series with economical news headlines
Kalibán, František ; Petrásek, Jakub (advisor) ; Zichová, Jitka (referee)
This thesis is focused on options of improving the estimate of volatility of the given financial time series by analysing the economical news headlines. Because of very large volume of data and correlation between word occurence in headlines, the Principal Component Analysis is used to reduce the dimension of data space. For the elimination of significantly large skewness of dependent variable and the preservation of its normality a Box-Cox transformation is used. Finally, a linear model is constructed and its robustness is analyzed by cross-validation method. The computations were made by R software.

Reformation, Counterreformation and Development of After the Reformation Catholicism in Uherský Brod - the Christian Faith in Changing Times
Zemek, Petr ; Rejchrtová, Noemi (advisor) ; Válka, Josef (referee) ; Pojsl, Miloslav (referee)
The study presents an attempt to depict the character of changes in life, thought and feelings of inhabitants of the town of Uherský Brod as Christians throughout 16th - 17th centuries. Its aim is to deepen the understanding of the internal and external factors forming the specific local religiosity in the context of the enormous transformation of the Church at the end of the Middle-Ages and the Early Modern Period. Rather a small social segment has been selected in order to allow carrying out a study on individuals and their behaviour. In Uherský Brod, several substantial changes in confession conditions have taken place in the course of history. In terms of later development, the most important one was the restoration fo Catholicism after the Battle of White Mountain, which permanently affected the religious conditions of the town and the entire region. Based od the source material preserved, the author attempts to get an insight into the people who were actively or passively participating in these processes in order to contribute to a better understanding of the cultural development in the Early Modern Period, with special focus on this region. Basic facts concerning extreme supermodular functions
Studený, Milan
Elementary facts and observations on the cone of supermodular set functions are recalled. The manuscript deals with such operations with set functions which preserve supermodularity\nand the emphasis is put on those such operations which even preserve extremality (of a supermodular function). These involve a few self-transformations of the cone of supermodular set functions. Moreover, projections to the (less-dimensional) linear space of set functions for a subset of the variable set are discussed. Finally, several extensions to the (more-dimensional) linear space of set functions for a superset of the variable set are shown to be both preserving supermodularity and extremality.

Jurij Lotman - the semiotics of culture and the notion of text
Kacetlová, Klára ; Bílek, Petr (referee) ; Heczková, Libuše (advisor)
Yuri Mikhailovich Lotman dealing with culture (both in general sense and seen as art) as a semiotic phenomenon. Culture is regarded as a collection of heterogeneous, often even extremely contradicting phenomena that ever nevertheless organized in a strict hierarchy. With the passage of time these phenomena rearrange in various ways, change their position and disappear only to appear again. The communication between the individual elements is crucial - the very existence of culture depends on it. A conception very closely connected to culture is a conception of text (which does not necessarily have to be verbal), that is, something that needs to be preserved in regard of a certain culture. In the works I've chosen Lotman deals mainly with textual function and relations between texts and culture, texts and their meaning and texts and their recipients from same or different cultures. My thesis also contains a translation commentary, where I explain more complex terms that are difficult to translate and those that Lotman uses in an unusual way, and a foreword focused on the Tartu-Moscow semiotic school with J. M. Lotman as its chief representative. This part of my thesis deals with the conception of culture and text and its transformations.
