Nossek, Radim ; Cahel, Tomáš (referee) ; Májek, Jan (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
Gallery of modern art is located in the historical center of the Brno city. This part is known as "Ringstrasse". Following the Wiena ringstrasse, in Brno, this part is a place for important culture buildings. Close to the gallery, we can find several culture institutions, such as Mahen's theatre, Janacek's theatre, or House of culture. So, Gallery of modern art make's sense in these parts of the city. Main goal was to create a step between city part and city parks. The main inspiration, for me, was an old fortification object called bastion. It was build during baroco era and demolished in the times of Napoleon's wars. I want to bring back an object that formed old city and its surroundings, so its replacement will fit in. It's cascades with green teracces goes down towards the parks, that are next to the gallery.
Reconstruction of Medov court Hermanuv Mestec
Kozhevnikova, Vlada ; Mikeš, Stanislav (referee) ; Guzdek, Adam (advisor) ; Kalousek, Lubor (advisor)
The aim of the thesis was to create documentation for building permit and a part of building design documentation. The topic of the studio work was to think about suitable use of listed building in historical center of Heřmanův Městec and to create an architectural study of monument restoration including a proposal for a new use. The intention was to propose new modern use for heritage-protected buildings and to fill it with economic advantageous functions. The main idea was to preserve the valuable historical elements and also to simplify the floor plan by removing the less valuable partitions and filling the holes. Internal partitions and ceiling structures in this wing will be removed. Therefore, the original roof will be reinforced by cross bars and also be protected against moisture. All mixed masonry of internal and external constructions will be preserved as well as a wooden roof over all the wings of the buildings. The solution of the exterior expression of the building is designed in the classicist style of the house. This is documented by partial photo documentation of the building and partly preserved elements on the facade of the building. The newest exterior adjustments and hole fillings have been removed. The color solution results from surveys of the original color scheme of the building. According to the requirements of the monument care, the tinsmith elements will be adjusted to the color of the plasters (yellow-creme tone) and the paints of downpipes and gutters made in red-brown color (color of old roof tiles), stucco plasters in gold-ocher tone. The starting point of the interior design is the restoration of the appearance of preserved monumental floors, stucco decorations, portals and openings. There was an effort to preserve the dominant spatial element, which is reflected in both floors - anfilada. The design accentuates historically valuable premises and construction of the building.
Modern Art Gallery
Aulisa, Marco ; Fišer, Jiří (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the draft of a new building of the Modern Art Gallery. The plots in question, i. e. no. 272/51 and no. 272/56, on which the construction project is placed, is located in the cadastral area of the city of Brno, with the main access to the land from Benešova street. The building is situated on the land near the border of the plot with Koliště Street, i. e. on its northeast side. The basic concept of the project, that originates from the sole frequency of the surrounding streets, aims to balance the unevenness of the housing development. At the same time, one of the objectives of this thesis is to develop the plot so that the character of the circular bypass around the city centre is preserved. The shape of the final draft was greatly influenced by two urban axes, namely north and southwest, one of which characterizes the housing development in the direction from the Brno City Hall and the other is characteristic for buildings located in the direction of the Main Train Station. The axes then meet in the middle of the proposed building. The proposed building has four floors, while the underground floor also serves as an garage. On the first floor there is a café, which is connected to a outdoor space with staircase steps. The layout of the gallery on all floors is multifunctional. The third floor also partially serves as a terrace. The proposed building is characterized by inducing a feeling of lightening, which was achieved by embedding the first and third floors inwards and also rounding the corners of the façade of the second floor. An important element of the building is also the solution of natural light penetration. Within the exhibition areas, natural lighting is solved by a fully glazed façade, where a foil is inserted between the individual glasses, which absorbs all direct rays. Only neutral dispersion light gets inside the object. The facade of the building is solved by concrete cladding in its natural design.

Nesvadba, Filip ; Turcovský, Štefan (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with a concept of open city block and designs town hall for Brno – centre. Discussed area is situated on the corner of Hybešova street and Nové sady street. At present, there is number of smaller buildings and some hard surfaces used as parking place. The area is very close to the city centre and it is found under the Petrov hill with the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul that dominates the city’s landscape. From the city’s perspective, the locality is very attractive also thanks to its good public transport connection. The aim of this urbanistic concept is to create connection of the area with the city, as well as variation of functions of the new object and composite the object appropriately into the current structure. The town hall in its public significance proposes to become an important building for the locality but also for the whole city Brno.

The issue of completion allows for the expansion of the faculty premises and the addition of capacities for which the current situation no longer has a place. The project also addresses the use of the original historic buildings and the connection of the Faculty of Architecture with the Faculty of Fine Arts within one area.
